CPU Upgraded

Hi guys

 

I just upgraded my HP Microserver Gen8 from a Celeron 1610 to a Xeon E3-1265L V2 CPU and everything works fine.

But I started to wonder if I'm using all 4 cores (8 threads) of the new CPU, cause control panel says I'm using an i3-4130 with 2 cores (the native CPU of the DS3615xs which the build is taken from).
But it was the same with the Celeron CPU.

 

So is there any way to monitor if all cores are active when I'm transcoding etc.

You should be using all cores of the new CPU, the CPU info you see in control panel is hard coded & reflects what is in a genuine synology. You can check by running the following command  

cat /proc/cpuinfo

What you see in the GUI is simply the cpu that Synology uses in their hardware. It's hardcoded, but DSM is actually using all cores.

SSH in your box then run:

top

then pressing 1.

OR

running:

htop

You should see all cores running.
