Changing hard drives

Question

Hi,

I set up a hp micro with xpenology about a year ago and it stopped booting after a few months so guess it was down to an update?

Anyway, I’ve not been able to get back to the data on the drive so was wondering if I fitted another drive to the unit and set it up with a new install would I be able to gain access to the old drive?

Hope someone can help!

Thanks

Maybe, maybe not. Without having the source of the problem or you discribing errors you might see on screen it is difficult to assess and help.

Thanks for reply, I’m not sure what happened to the original drive, It was working fine then disappeared, only thing I can think of is that it did an update, I’m not sure what else I can do to see what’s caused it.

Can you ping the box when booted?

Also, hook up a monitor to the box. What does the monitor show when the machine is booted?

Have you tried to connect to iLo? There some good information about the generall health of system. Was the system setup as raid?
