George Posted March 12, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 12, 2018 Hi all Curious, how intelligent is XPenology on the network side. My switch is a 24 port unmanaged TPLink. Thinking of cabling my new Xpenology NAS into the network via 2 x 1Gb links, hoping to e able to get 2Gb link to the NAS. Normally this would e via LACP which requires NIC Teaming/aggregation which actually requires a managed switch. Have watched a couple of youtube videos where both ports are patched, but double the normal user/consumer will have a managed switch at home. Polanskiman Posted March 12, 2018 Share #2 Posted March 12, 2018 I do not know what your switch is but in order to achieve what you want your switch needs to be link aggregation capable, meaning it needs to supports IEEE 802.3 ad otherwise it will not work as you intend to make it work. Looking at the Control Panel > Network, options provided in Link Aggregation mode are: On a DS214+ it looks like this: On a DS3615xs it looks like this: Link aggregation needs to be configured first on the switch, then on DSM. All you can do is Load Balancing and Active/Stanby which do not require a special switch. I use a Cisco SG200-08 that is IEEE 802.3 ad compliant.
