nrupalp Posted February 22, 2014 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2014 I just got the N54L and have XPEnology installed natively on a usb and DSM is working perfectly fine. I set the HDD to hibernate within 10 mins of activity. How do I check if this is working or not? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. fabjan Posted February 22, 2014 Share #2 Posted February 22, 2014 In control panel / hardware / HDD Hibernation, you can check the "Enable hibernation logs". In the System logs, you have messages like "Internal disks woke up from hibernation". No message when they hibernate, only when they wake up. nrupalp Posted February 23, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted February 23, 2014 Changed that setting and I do not see them hibernating. I even ejected the flash drive. I have 1 ssd and a regular HD.
PF62 Posted March 2, 2014 Share #4 Posted March 2, 2014 It will not be hibernating because lots of packages stop it hibernating. If you shut down all the packages, it should hibernate. By turning them on one at a time, you can then experiment to find out which packages stop it hibernating.
stanza Posted March 2, 2014 Share #5 Posted March 2, 2014 Honestly, I find the hdd spin down a waste of time... Too many things can wake them back up, and you end up with them spinning up every 20mins... Not worth the power saving over the wear and tear of spin ups every few minutes. .
