nliebherr Posted January 28, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 28, 2014 Hello, I just installed DSM 4.3 (build 3810++) on my HP N54L. Everythings seems to work as expected instead of Plex Media Server. I installed Plex via Packet Manager and if I try to start it, I get an error. The protocol says: Do you have any hint for me? Thanx!
stanza Posted January 29, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 29, 2014 I had a PLEX error once. (Wouldn't start up) Trick for me was to unintall PLEX delete all plex directories you can find. eg /homes/Plex /Plex then reinstall PLEX try again ?? . Djey Posted January 29, 2014 Share #3 Posted January 29, 2014 There's an alternative install method to try : download plex SPK on official site : https://plex.tv/downloads and choose NAS, then Intel architecture. in DSM package center, manually install SPK file
nliebherr Posted January 29, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted January 29, 2014 Stil not working I deinstalled, deleted "/usr/syno/synoman/webman/3rdparty/plex" (the only directory I found) and reinstalled... same problem. So I deinstalled and deleted directory again. Installed manually but stil not working. DSM said there is an update.. so updated, but not working. In /var/log/messages it just says: Jan 29 21:07:35 ds9 PkgSynoMan.cgi: pkgstartstop.cpp:114 Failed to start package Plex Media Server Jan 29 21:18:51 ds9 PkgMan.cgi: pkgstartstop.cpp:114 Failed to start package Plex Media Server Jan 29 21:30:48 ds9 PkgMan.cgi: pkgstartstop.cpp:114 Failed to start package Plex Media Server Jan 29 21:31:10 ds9 geticon.cgi: pkgcurltool.cpp:458 http://www.synology.com/pkg_img/Plex%20Media%20Server/0.9.8.18.290-11b7fdd/screenshot_04.png, Failed to request packages, httpResponseCode=404 Jan 29 21:31:18 ds9 geticon.cgi: pkgcurltool.cpp:458 http://www.synology.com/pkg_img/Plex%20Media%20Server/0.9.8.18.290-11b7fdd/screenshot_01.png, Failed to request packages, httpResponseCode=404 Jan 29 21:31:18 ds9 geticon.cgi: pkgcurltool.cpp:458 http://www.synology.com/pkg_img/Plex%20Media%20Server/0.9.8.18.290-11b7fdd/screenshot_03.png, Failed to request packages, httpResponseCode=404 Jan 29 21:31:19 ds9 geticon.cgi: pkgcurltool.cpp:458 http://www.synology.com/pkg_img/Plex%20Media%20Server/0.9.8.18.290-11b7fdd/screenshot_02.png, Failed to request packages, httpResponseCode=404 Jan 29 21:31:36 ds9 PkgMan.cgi: pkgstartstop.cpp:114 Failed to start package Plex Media Server Jan 29 21:34:19 ds9 PkgMan.cgi: pkgstartstop.cpp:114 Failed to start package Plex Media Server
Turbine-7 Posted January 30, 2014 Share #5 Posted January 30, 2014 Have you installed the Synocommunity Python package? Remove the Synology one if installed, it's not needed.
nliebherr Posted January 30, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted January 30, 2014 Python was the right hint! I haven't installed Python before... after installing Python, Plex is running! No I'm not sure why Plex was running on my DSM 4.2 because I haven't installed Python there. Maybe it was pre-installed. Thank you!
yaqushi Posted February 1, 2014 Share #7 Posted February 1, 2014 Hi there, thought I high-jack this thread: I am running the DSM 5 beta, fresh install and struggling whole morning to get Plex to run. I installed Plex, but it doesnt start automatically; after pressing run it gives an error message with "failed to run". I followed advise here, uninstalled, deleted all plex files and folders with WinSCP, reinstalled phyton and plex, also other packages. Failed. All packages are running, but plex wouldnt. Manual install of plex from plex.tv website doesnt work etiher, as it seems the synology software for plex is 0.9.8.19, whereas under plex.tv/synology/intel the software is 0.9.18.18. Any ideas what i am overlooking here? Aja, I am running a ASRock Z87 ITX with i7 4770T, not a HP N54L as this thread suggests.
