yaqushi Posted February 26, 2014 Share #77 Posted February 26, 2014 Question for the hibernation in this release - I dont get it to work. Following the guides here, i do the following: 1. create new script S99ZZZ_USB_eject.sh: sync; /usr/syno/bin/synousbdisk -umount sdu1; >/tmp/usbtab (checked if sdu1 really is my USB drive) 2. copy it in the /usr/syno/etc/rc.d directory 3. give it the execute permission When i reboot the system and look in the log file, it says right after startup that USB1 was ejected. So far so good, apparently only if the USB1 drive is ejected, the sytem can hibernate. But, only 20sec later log shows: USB1 was mounted. Every time i reboot the system, I have no clue why. Some help here how to get hibernation to work? Cheers Y

PF62 Posted February 28, 2014 Share #79 Posted February 28, 2014 Just registered to firstly say a really big thanks to everyone involved in making this work. I have it installed on a N54L, and the process was simpler than I could have hoped for. Secondly I wanted to share my experiences of hibernation. Initially I could not get the machine to hibernate, so I went through the process of shutting down every package so it was just the 'bare bones' to see if it would hibernate. It did. Although it has been mentioned that the machine will not hibernate with a USB stick mounted, I found this not to be the case. The next stage was starting packages one at a time, to see which had an impact on hibernation. The main three packages I needed to run were Plex, Sickbeard, and SABnzbd. I found that Plex was fine, using the tips to turn off automatic updating, and turning off all the log files. However I have not yet tried it logged into myplex. Sickbeard and SABnzbd were more problematic, no matter if I set them not to scan for a couple of hours, they still kept the N54L awake. A bit of googling turned up this - http://www.mimimi.be/2012/11/sickbeard-preventing-synology-ds213-to.html which looked interesting. I created another partition on the USB stick used to boot the N54L, and redirected the logs to folders on there. For SABnzbd that was fine, and it would now hibernate, but it still didn't work for Sickbeard. So I tried it with the custom version of Sickbeard, Sickbeard Piratebay, and bingo the N54L now hibernates.
pameijer Posted February 28, 2014 Share #80 Posted February 28, 2014 So I tried it with the custom version of Sickbeard, Sickbeard Piratebay, and bingo the N54L now hibernates. And does it wake on lan?
PF62 Posted February 28, 2014 Share #81 Posted February 28, 2014 And does it wake on lan? Yes (obviously I edited the MAC address) and followed this guide - http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=
yaqushi Posted March 1, 2014 Share #82 Posted March 1, 2014 Does the Hibernation work for you guys? I cannot get this to work, everything else is fine in DSM5beta I tried the script sync; /usr/syno/bin/synousbdisk -umount sdq; >/tmp/usbtab but after reboot i ejects the usb, and only 20sec it mounts it again automatically. No idea whats wrong here.
PF62 Posted March 1, 2014 Share #83 Posted March 1, 2014 To demonstrate that it will hibernate with the USB drive mounted - The hibernation time is set for 10 minutes, the N54L was rebooted and left with the disks mounted for 20 minutes, and then the interface opened using Synology Assistant to read the logs. PF62 Posted March 1, 2014 Share #84 Posted March 1, 2014 An update, Sickbeard Piratebay seems to allow it to hibernate some times, and not others. 100% of the time when Sickbeard is off, but Plex and SABnzbd are running (with the USB disk mounted), it does hibernate. But when Sickbeard is running, it is quite hit and miss whether it will hibernate.
yaqushi Posted March 2, 2014 Share #85 Posted March 2, 2014 so just to clarify: you guys dont use the script (sync; /usr/syno/bin/synousbdisk -umount sdq; >/tmp/usbtab) at all to eject the system usb stick, it just works for you in DSM5?
PF62 Posted March 2, 2014 Share #86 Posted March 2, 2014 To be clear, I do not use the script. The USB stick is mounted all the time, and DSM5 will hibernate with it mounted. It will also WOL/sleep with it mounted. From experimenting, it seems that it is the packages that prevent it hibernating, not a USB stick being mounted. From Googling, hibernating, or lack of, seems to be a general issue with Synology, not an issue specific to Xpenology or DSM5 - http://www.synology.com/en-us/support/faq/568 Why not do as I did/am still doing, try stopping all the packages and see if it hibernates. If it does, turn them back on one at a time to see which cause a problem. For me Sickbeard seems to be a problem, so I am experimenting with setting up a schedule to run it, so instead of it searching every xx minutes, I stop that service, start it on every xx minutes for it to do its stuff, and then stop it again. So far that looks promising. It still finds and feeds things to SABnzdb, but the machine hibernates when it isn't doing so.

datom Posted March 5, 2014 Share #88 Posted March 5, 2014 Hi, I have installed 5.0 Beta on my N54L and it works very well. Thank you, Trantor for all the work. When I insert a PCTV nano DVB-T stick (73e), the stick is not recognized by Videostation. In the logs I see insmod: can't insert '/lib/modules/dvb-core.ko': unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter Mar 4 14:34:31 DiskStation kernel: [21837.057503] dvb_core: Unknown symbol __refrigerator (err 0) Mar 4 14:34:31 DiskStation kernel: [21837.064910] dvb_usb: Unknown symbol dvb_dmxdev_init (err 0) etc. Is the dvb support simply not compiled in? andymiller6891 Posted March 6, 2014 Share #90 Posted March 6, 2014 Don't suppose you could throw in drivers for an adaptec 5805 raid adapter. My array is built but DSM wont detect and drives or volumes. https://www.adaptec.com/en-us/support/raid/sas_raid/sas-5805/
Zakkieboy Posted March 9, 2014 Share #91 Posted March 9, 2014 My upgrade didnt fair too well, it seems to be 95% complete, but then times out in The assistant trying to write config files From what I can tell most services are running, but Apache is not configured. I can access the shares via SMB, but not web gui for me! A manual restart of apache renders: Prompt> /usr/syno/etc/rc.d/S97apache-sys.sh start Start System Apache Server ..... -DSSL -DSPDY -f /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf-sys httpd: Syntax error on line 149 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf-sys: Syntax error on line 11 of /etc/httpd/sites-enabled/SYNO.SDS.App.FileStation3.Instance.alt_port.conf: Could not open configuration file /usr/syno/apache/conf/extra/httpd-alt-port-rewrite-default.conf: No such file or directory httpd: Syntax error on line 149 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf-sys: Syntax error on line 11 of /etc/httpd/sites-enabled/SYNO.SDS.App.FileStation3.Instance.alt_port.conf: Could not open configuration file /usr/syno/apache/conf/extra/httpd-alt-port-rewrite-default.conf: No such file or directory Recover to default setting httpd-sys start/running, process 16195 /usr/syno/etc/rc.d/S97apache-sys.sh: system httpd started with default setting is this a simple case of getting the config files? Or, is there a new beta on the way that will fix this for me? I think it was an error on my part, as other have upgraded their NL54 easily - so im crap unlike the developers here! Well done on the work to date! Thanks

newbi Posted March 10, 2014 Share #96 Posted March 10, 2014 Can't we update the same way we did with the update we got when it was first installed?
Diverge Posted March 10, 2014 Share #97 Posted March 10, 2014 Can't we update the same way we did with the update we got when it was first installed? Nope, they are 2 different things. small updates come as deb packages, and don't increase build number. new builds have a new build number (4458), and comes as a pat file. Hemin Posted March 11, 2014 Share #100 Posted March 11, 2014 Hi all! First of all thanks for porting this "OS" to a non Synology NAS, I'm a owner of NL54 server and it works like a charm! And now mi little problem..., I've updated MariaDB module to the last version and doesn't star. Searching on Google I found that this solves by upgrading to the new version, so... waiting for the new XPEnology version , it's possible to roll back to the old MariaDB module without losing any data? Thanks!
