Dragster39 Posted January 22, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 22, 2014 I have a few questions about the initial configuration and installation of XPEnology: I have four HDDs available for my N54L: 250GB 2*3TB WD Red (Raid 1) 1*1TB Backup 1. On which drive would you install your OS on? 2. Which drive is the best to install the packages on? 3. Should I install everything on the raid volumes? 4. What is the best configuration if I had to reinstall/upgrade XPEnology? Thank you in advance

Synology upgrade script will format any drives it finds, unless drive is already formatted according to it's standard version (i.e. /dev/md0 - root, /dev/md1 - swap, /dev/md2+ - data). Thank you for the fast reply. But one question remains: 2. Which drive is the best to install the packages on? When I want to install new Software on my NAS the DSM asks where I want to install it. i.e.: My Installation of XPEnology is corrupt and I want to have a fresh install. Do I loose all of my installed Packages?
