but i can't give any feedback, i've tried alpha 5, had problems, not sure if its gnoboot related or not, and i have not been able to try out alpha 9 before alpha 10 came.

i know you want feedback but some users wont be able to give feedback.

i rather don't give feedback when i feel i can't tribute to anything, then just writing down something for the ability to get the password.

/Best regards

Henrik

Well To do what as been asked I will give mine below. Since I was unable to get alpha9 working at all in ESXi 5.5 the only release that I was able to test was alpha 5.

Alpha 9: after installing it would cause a grub error. I tried everything I could and could not fix this. I spent over 6 hours and one upset girl friend and still no luck. The only way to not get the grub error was to install alpha5

Alpha 5: It installed fine but I could not get iSCSI to work. Windows files share worked and where very fast. Did not get to test NFS. This was using version 5 of the DSM.

I am hoping the alpha 10 vfat image works. I don't know if it had to do with the fact that since it was a zimage with alpha9 that I messed it up and caused the grub error after install.

Also for all the esxi user out there I plan on doing a write up / guide once I get a working configuration for all to go off.

The only image I have is alpha5. I still don't know how to update a zimage. If you'd like me to test alpha10 please send me a password. I've happily filled out the form but still haven't really got anywhere using alpha9 due to the zimage. I'm attempting to test baremetal gen8 microserver. I never tested alpha5 since I figured I'd update to the latest first. However, if you insist, I can test alpha5 and report back in order to get the password. While I appreciate your desire for feedback, I think simply requiring the form to be filled out before should suffice. There is no need to force people to work with you, we all support what you are doing and want you to have the greatest success.

Still very much a n00b to all this. Only discovered XPEnology a week or two ago, (boy I wish I'd found it before trying OMV), and the learning curve has been steep. Managed to get alpha7 working in ESXi on my N40L but disapointed to find it didn't like SCSI interface so DSM a no go.

Admit to being overly confused right now with updating the zImage. Been holding out for a complete new image to try so hopefully will be lucky enough to receive the password for alpha10.

Heya gno... can I get the password? Been testing since initial release but don't have it working with my primary systems.

mpt2sas driver isn't working on Dell Perc H310s flashed to LSI 9211-81 IT Firmware (run with 3 in primary system).

I have had it working once or twice on old AOC-SATA-MV8s but always crashes within a couple days (run with 3 in secondary system)

Don't have it working with AOC-SASLP-MV8s.

Have ~6 different systems to test on and play with.

Yep. Did you also copy the new GRUB conf? If not, then delete all "initrd rd.gz" lines in your config.

Hello,

I have a Asrock H87E motherboard with an integrated Giga PHY Intel ® I217V network card.

Unfortunately, the network card is often not recognized at the start of Gnoboot (alpha9) and the system starts without a network.

Is it possible to deposit the network card in the config fixed, so always the Intel driver is loaded.

How exactly do I have to do that and what files need to be adjusted accordingly.

Thanks and regards

Michael

I sumited the form and waiting for the download link. Can I have the password for alpha10? want to give it a try for the new FAT32 image.

i've tried alpha 8, the system is very stable.

But little problems(mark red):

SMART not supported is Virtual Machine issue.

I am sending report/feedback for gnoboot-alpha9 on Xen Server. (dd alpha7 + alpha8 grub config + alpha9 zImage), regarding paravirtualization.

Generaly there is problem with disks (Xen blkfront, attaches new devices /dev/xvd[a-f] instead of /dev/hd[a-f]). Further I can't install DSM using Syno Assistant - error 38 - no Disk.

See attached dmesg + boot screens, any Idea how to fix it?

Another issue is default video mode, Xen does not support default one, I am using 318. In addition to that maybe there is wrong Hypervisor detection, see frst boot screen - hyperv detected :/.... What seems wrong is default inet_number = 4... see some messages in dmesg / boot screen.

Once problem with disks will be solved, i guess paravirt will be working fine. Maybe for further Xen optimization some kernel modules should me disabled (failing during booting anyway).

Thanks

Michael

It's already default, can you provide dmesg?

The Problem.is xens para disks are reflected as xda xdb etc... Syno needs them to be at /dev/sda and so on

@gno: Probably that behavior is tuneable in the driver?

Nope, but there's a workaround which is a bit ugly or modify the driver but I'm not sure about its side effect. :???:

@billy

Are you running nested Xen on HyperV? Can you login to console and try running virt-what?
