  1. Hello, I am encountering a weird issue with my server (hp n54l baremetal). It has been working for years with no issues at all with DSM5.2 Two days ago I was thinking to backup my booting USB in case it might fail one day and if I wanted to finally update to 6.x So I turned of my server, remover the usb drive and tried to back it up with my laptop. I say tried because each time the software I use gave me an error saying it could not do it. Then I gave up and put back the usb drive into my server which booted with no problem...until I wanted to acces one volume (I had 2), but it disappeared!! Nothing! DSM does not give me any error but thr fact it cannot mount some folders (the ones on this volume). This volume is a raid 1 of two drives. Here what I did and check by order: -bios : all drives are detected, including the 2 of the missing volume -I unplugged the drives and tried others wit no luck (still detected by the bios but not DSM) -I plugged them an another machine : they are detected. -fdsik -l : does not post the missing drives -So I decided, what the hell lets update to DSM6.1, maybe something wrong with the usb drive I tried to clone. I used a brand new usb drive, loader 1.02b...etc migration done with no issue, but still the missing volume!! -OK then, let's do a clean install ... still, the two drives are missing ... -I put the drives in an old 710+, and they are detected perfectly I am out of ideas, could it be hardware while the drives are detected by the bios?
  2. After upgrading from DSM 5.2 to 6.1, NAS no longer starts My hardware HP Server Gen8 with 4 x 2TB HDD My approach as described by Polanskiman. Juns loader 1.02b modified accordingly (PID, VID, MAC-Adr. and Ser.Nr.. After inserting the SD card with the modified loader, the server and the boot loader started. I saw the boot menu of the loader on the monitor and was also able to start the upgrade process from the PC with the Web Assistant. After that, the server reboots and since then the NAS is unreachable.
Thierry
  4. Hi, I just installed Xenoboot5.2-5664 on my Esxi 6.0 U1 server by following this guide https://ahkhai.com/2016/02/09/installing-synology-nas-on-virtual-machine/ Upon installation of XPEnoboot DS3615xs5.2-5644.5 (Using the ISO to boot) i was able to login to the synology initial configuration page ( i located the ip trough my router) moving on, From the GUI it will ask you to manual install the DSM firmware and i selected the DSM_5.2-5644.PAT file. From here the system formats and loads loads up the firmware. after that it will reboot the system to complete the installation. So now when it reboots, the whole system just gets stuck at a black screen showing a small non blinking white Cursors ( Find attached) I need some help here as it seems that it just dies once i upload an install the .PAT firmware file. I've tried it with other versions as well ( VM version 11 compatible for esxi 6 and vm version 10 for exsi 5.5), including the one identical to the guide ( with the only difference is that i'm running it on esxi rather then virtual box) and all of them leads back to the same conclusion. Once the PAT firmware in installed and the system reboots it just hangs there. anyone can help me here? as im planing to set up this to share ISCSI LUN to my servers
