  1. Hello all,

I have been helping a lot of people setup their Xpenology and also using this tool http://quickconnector.orgfree.com/index.php to generate 3615xs serial number then register it with a synology account.

Recently I found that the serials generated for 3615xs are all unable to register. But if I choose another product e.g. 3612xs, the registration success.

is it the serial number has been exhausted so that all the serials I generated is a duplicate one? or Synology noticed this and simply block all 3615xs registration?

this is a real problem as quick connect has been so useful.

    Andrew

Don't use quickconnect, you're destroying this project by using it!

  2. well it does look like you have hung hopes on 2 devs. jun and trantor for drivers.

It has always been like this. During the 4.x times, even during 5.x, we only had 2-3 devs, and ~200-300 users depending on their work.

Maybe that's because there is almost no documentation about how to make a bootloader.

If there are some good docs on how to build an image, maybe more volunteers will show up.

  3. Just to add to the general paranoia :

While I was testing a DNS server on my network (and looking at the logs), I found that my box - which has quickconnect off - contacted account.synology.com and another url (I forget) which retrieved my external IP.

So they probably have a better idea of how many people are running XPEnology than anyone here

Good call, blocked that domain in firewall

  4. Seems that others are scared to introduce themself

    Currently have the following hardware:

    Core i5-4460

    16GB Mem

    ASRock Z97E-ITX/ac

    Silverstone DS380

    3x 2TB

    3x 3TB

Planning to buy new hardware this year.

This time i will go for the following case:

    071A8935_1.jpg

    This is a U-NAS NSC-810A

  5. Seems that synology checks the serial and mac address during installation.

I tried to re-use my old serial and mac from the ds3615xs on the new DS3617xs, but the installation failed over and over.

Once i flashed the DS3615xs loader it all went fine =)

  6. That line could refer to the fix for the volume issue - not sure of the exact ins and outs though.

I'm increasingly willing to risk an upgrade on my main NAS.. I'll keep one eye on the Synology forums though - to see what issues are present..

    Cheers

Let me know how it went.

Is upgrading from dsm 6 (jun 1.0 loader) as follows:

    - Flash the new 1.02a loader

    - Take out old usb drive

    - Reboot with new loader

    - Choose upgrade

    - Profit????

Anyone who can confirm those steps?

  7. Really tempted to upgrade my main NAS now.. It's backed up, so fingers crossed should be fine..

My test 6.1 'server' is running fine..

The main reason is that they've finally got Virtualbox to work as an installable Syno Package..

Any news on moving out of Alpha, or is there not enough data back in yet?

    #H

Same here, really temping to upgrade.

Might give it a go this evening.

    Are you running bare metal?
