plz post logs rather than telling xyz not working, it's not going to be informative.
I gave up.. with the retirement of wjz304 I decided to move away from a dedicated plex box. Synology and Plex (hw transcoding has always been hit or miss except with the Nvidia NVR route.)

The issue still is problematic..
I see there is a new version released 5 days ago.. do we know what was fixed?
Edit: My system is still crashing with tone mapping enabled. It was working fine on 7.1.1.

Wanting to enable Hardware transcoding with patched i915 (which never worked, I must miss something), I realized that maybe the AMD based DS was not shipped with the i915 drivers and changed to DS920+ in the loader.
From there, started a full day of black screen ... the loader loads and after the installation of DSM and its reboot, the screen goes black, it doesn't display the loader typical information.
I formatted the drives and used DS918+, same deal.
I changed loader to the original ARPL, formatted drives, same deal.
I changed loader to ARC, ... same black screen
went back to DS923+ on ARPL-i18n and it worked again.
So what is it ??
Also, would I be able to enable HW transcoding ?
Thanks a lot
The screen will turn off on a connected monitor when the video driver is loaded properly. This may be what happens in your case. Have you tried connecting via network?

I got mine working finally by turning off my internet during the install process. I now have 7.1.1-U5 working with HW i915 transcoding on an i7-10700.
I used jim3ma's loader
-
I've pretty much swung and missed on the SA6400 install. I can get 7.2 installed on my i7-10700 build, but I don't get /dev/dri and the install for 7.1 just reinstalls/migrates every boot time

how to check how many core are system using. because offically dva3221 support only 4 cores.

how many cores does DVA3221 supported. i have intel i7 8700. it has 6 core 12 thread.
24 i believe. I have an I7-10700 and get 8c/16t just fine.

Do we have confirmation that intel transcoding works on this?
Edit: I get no drives detected. I have both an MSATA and a SATA SSD.

nothing special, just a 9th gen cpu, B365 chipset and onboard sata (ahci)
what hardware did you try?
Shuttle MiniPC w/i3-7100T.. it works fine with DS920 and DVA3221
It does have an msata disk, not sure if the SA6400 has issues with non synology disks
-
How are yall installing on baremetal? I get no disk found when using the image here https://blog.jim.plus/blog/post/jim/synology-sa6400-with-i915.

but i guess there might be performance inconsistencies with syno's old kernels/configs when it comes to E and P core's of newer intel cpu's
I saw something similar regarding using a Denverton build (DVA3221) vs DS920+ (Gemini Lake) the old Denverton would perform slower on cpu intensive tasks (openvpn for one)
-
Do we know what the max cpu is set to for the SA6400? I currently have a 10th gen CPU running as a 920+ with HT disabled, but if this will allow me to turn HT back on I'd make a test of it.
Found it myself: it's 12C/24T
-
Is there any particular reason as to why one build would be slower doing the same task?
OpenVPN Throughput
DS920+ 50+mb/s
DVA3221+: ~25-30mb/s
Same hardware between installs. (i3-7100T)
-
So I found something that tanks performance, maybe it's to be expected, but my DS1621+ (R1600 2.2mhz max) was getting better openvpn performance over a 10700 (4.9ghz max) as a DVA3221 build. Performance was half of what it should have been.
I coundn't figure it out initially, but changing from dev to prod LKM and booting directly to DSM fixed it. Will this create problems in the future when I need to install updates so that ARPL can do the special patching on reboot?

Is the Realtek R8125 2.5gbe network adapter not supported in ARPL for the 920+? I am not seeing it in the gui under modules (but other Realtek USB based 2.5gbe adapters are there).
The adapter works when installing ARPL, but any booting to DSM I have no network. Unfortunately I'm all out of other Nics to test with.
The driver shows to be available on Pocopico's repository, but that's not setup as an .addon.
Edit: 0.5a1 has the Module (not addon) available and the system installs fine

The problem with dva3219, dva3221 is that not all of pascal/turing gpus are supported because of an old driver in Nvidia Runtime Library spk. Current driver used for both dva3221 and dva3219 is 440.44 which is old since it was released in late 2019, many pascal and turing gpu revisions (for example with gddr6 memory) were released after this driver. Once synology updates drivers or a way to edit/replace drivers in ssh will be found things will be more interesting )
My GTX 1650 Super has 4gb of DDR6 and works fine on DVA3221

redpill-acpid is a version developed by jumkey and named "ACPI Daemon v2".
In my rp-ext repo
There is another acpid ext that is not in pocopico's rp-ext repo. This is the version of the link below developed by jimmyGALLAND.
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/PeterSuh-Q3/rp-ext/master/acpid/rpext-index.json
When "ACPI Daemon v2" does not work, it may succeed by replacing it with this jg.acpid.
jg.acpid driver is platform-specific.
Compared to "ACPI Daemon v2" using v6, jg.acpid uses the latest v7 and v7.1 drivers.https://github.com/jimmyGALLAND/redpill-ext/tree/master/acpid
Unfortunately no support for DVA3221 yet on those repos, or any recent 7.1.0 builds for that matter.
I think it's because none of the drivers are put where they need to be? There is no button.ko in /lib/modules
Edit: a W10 guest will shutdown fine, so it looks like it might be a linux issue, not DSM.
Edit: It's a dietpi issue.. fix https://dietpi.com/forum/t/qemu-guest-agent-shutdown/5898/6
-
Is there any chance in getting the acpid driver to properly shut down VMs? If I build a vm, install qemu-guest-agent I get all features except the ability to shut them down via the gui. It's clickable, but the VM never soft shuts down. I've tried 918+, 3622+, DVA3221 ; doesn't work, and I can't remember if it's ever worked for any DSM 7.x builds. I install the redpill-acpid diver fom pocopico's ext repository without issue.

How much power take i3-10100 at normal work ?
Not a whole lot. It's a 65w cpu, as is the 10700

I built a DVA3221 system based on an i3-10100 w/ PNY GTX1650 super. Plex works fine with hw encoding. Updated to 7.1.0-42661-u3 without issue. After a week or so of testing, I'll rebuild it in my server case that has an i7-10700 with RTL8125 2.5gbe nics.
-
I was unable to get a 920+ build to detect hard drives beyond the first one on an H270 based motherboard that has 6 ports after install.
Without changing a thing in the bios (drives hotplug enabled) a 918+ build was flawless.
-
So I'm running into an issue with this.
It doesn't detect my 8125 base 2.5gbe and when I use the manual option, it never actually allows me to suggest other modules
acpid and 8125 that I definately need.
the m.sh script is depreciated so I can't force it..
How do I get past this?
Edit: NM I added them manually via rp-loader then ran my.sh.. all good now.

It was working fine, but with support waning the expectation that it might still be a viable platform doesn't comfort me. I originally built the box as a DVA3221 which worked perfectly. The only hangup was that my server is a Shuttle Box and the video card blocked the x1 slot which means I had to use USB 3.1 to get 2.5g network connections. That created a different subset of problems.
So i moved my plex box to a light unraid install. I gained a few things such as Airvpn wireguard and some better docker support. HDR tone mapping works as well.
I love the synology software platform. My data sits on a DS1621+.
