  1. WiteWulf's post in How Do I Disable 2FA? Locked Out of DSM7 was marked as the answer
Okay, I figured this out, should have read the documentation!

I was using the wrong verb on the Synology group command, should have been 'addmember', not 'add'.

I've now added the temp account to the administrators group and disabled 2FA

Having now booted up and logged in, it looks like the reason it was failing may be something to do with two of my four HDDs being missing. Looks like I have satamap problems
  2. WiteWulf's post in Please Help: Can't Update DS918+ on ESXi from 7.0-41890 was marked as the answer
Okay, I sorted this in the end, but it's more of a workaround than a fix, I never managed to get 7.0-41890 to upgrade in place to anything newer.

In the end I created a new DS3622xs+ VM with TCRP and mounted the HDD from the original DS918+ VM in that. When it booted up it identified the old drive and offered to do a "migrate disks" procedure, which worked and got me to 7.1.0-42661-1. I then ran through the individual updates to get it to 7.1.0-42661-4

    Job done.
  3. WiteWulf's post in Migrating Baremetal to ESXi - Passthrough HDDs or Controller? was marked as the answer
I'm going to mark this thread/question as answered, but as it's a combination of all the different responses I can't mark any one of you as having answered the question, sorry!
  4. WiteWulf's post in Upgraded to 6.2, Can't Login to Web UI & Network Changed was marked as the answer
Okay, fixed it, what a pig that was!

    Following saoclyph's post here:
...I started digging around in /etc. I replaced all the rc.* files with copies from the installer .pat file (it's a tar file, you can extract it and find the files you need) and also deleted an old .xpenoboot folder in root. Rebooted and I'm in to the DSM interface with no problems. Hope this is of help to others who run into the same or similar problem!
