I'm not sure the CPU in the Gen8 can run the ds3617xs - you need to use the 3615xs instead I think. Works for me anyway. Think you may have to build the loader again as well.

I went from 6.2.3 with no issues.

Full install (migrate) from 5.2 to 6.1.2-15132 successful on baremetal Gen8. It wasn't straightforward though - the first time through I couldn't find the DS at all. Restarted, still nothing. Reinstalled the same version a second time, and it worked.

I'm amazed that dsm6 even boots. Let's hope this means official support for dsm6 is easier work for the devs! Sent from my ONE E1003 using Tapatalk

Don't think you can not off the microSD. Just use a cheap old 2gb card. It's only for booting - DSM is stored on the hdds.

There's a thread for reverting to 5.1.

Building from one to two drives would just mirror the first drive, then adding the third would then wipe that second drive and rebuild as raid5. Send like a real faff. I've got everything backed up, so I'm going to try going straight to 3 disks. Fingers crossed.

I have a Microserver Gen8 up and running with a single 2TB in SHR. I want to add two more identical drives. Do I just add them both and build straight to a SHR raid 5 array, or do I have to do one drive at a time?
