  1. That's great to know, thank you. I'll give it a try and see what speeds I can get.
  2. I believe 7.1.1 update 5 includes SMB multichannel support. My gen 8 microserver has two NICs, so I'll give it a go. Has anyone managed to get this working with Xpenology?
  3. I have a gen8 microserver which is running well on 7.1.1. I have 4x3b HDDs in one SHR array, and a single 2tb as another volume. None of the drives ever spin down and I want to fix this. I am considering replacing the 2tb volume with a large 2tb SSD, and installing all the various DSM packages on it, including cloud station, surveillance station, docker etc. I will use the HDD array for storing files only. Will this allows the HDD array to spin down?
  4. Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL😁 - DSM version prior update: DSM 7.1.1 42962 UPDATE-1 - Loader version and model: Automated RedPill Loader 0.5 alpha-1 DS3622xs+ - Using custom extra.lzma: NO - Installation type: BAREMETAL - HP Gen8. - Additional comments: Updated via DSM GUI (manual). No need for any loader adjusting - just a simple reboot and it worked.
  5. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 7.1.0-42661 Update 4 (DS3615xs) - Loader version and model: ARPL 5.0A1 - DS3622xs+ - Installation type: BAREMETAL - HP Microserver Gen8 - Xeon E3-1260L - Additional comments: ARPL made this whole process super easy. 5 drives migrated perfectly.
  6. Quick appreciation post... I've just updated my Microserver Gen 8 to 7.1.1 update 1 with ARPL. I've used just about every loader going over the years, and this process was exceptionally quick and easy. Thank you to everyone that puts in their time to make it happen!
  7. That's good info - thanks! I'll be using that fifth drive for a couple of CCTV cams only - so speed won't be an issue. That'll free up the fourth front bay to expand my main storage pool... Honestly, I can't believe how long I've had that Gen8 - and I still don't see any reason to upgrade. Fantastic piece of hardware. I finally set up the ILO interface today, in preparation for moving to a newer loader and DSM version - which makes it even more amazing...
  8. Well I'm just going to go ahead and answer my own question... Yes, you can put a 5th drive in there. I have an SSD connected with an adaptor to the floppy power cable, and a spare sata cable to the motherboard. Showed up in Xpenology right away once I booted - nothing needed to be changed in BIOS or in the loader. Next step is to see if I can replace the SSD with a full size HDD...
  9. Does anyone know if I can add a 5th int drive to my gen8 - either an SSD or 2.5" HDD, for use with surveillance station? I know it can be done physically, but will xpenology see it? Do I need to change anything in the HP bios? I'm on DS3615xs 7.1.0 at the moment. Will be switching to DS3622xs+ and 7.1.1 soon.
  10. Finally decided to go from 7.0 to 7.1 today on my Gen8 bare metal and it's been a steep learning curve! I now know a lot more about satamaps than I ever wanted too. Quick question though - I'm using ds3615xs because I thought my CPU - e3-1220v2 -couldn't handle anything newer - but I've seen some people using the 3622xs+ build on the Gen8. How is this possible? Can I just run through TCRP loader again, and select the 3622 instead?
  11. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 7.1-42661 - Loader version and model: Tinycore Redpill DS3615xs - Using custom extra.lzma: NO - Installation type: BAREMETAL – HP Microserver Gen8 Notes: straight from 7.1 to U4. Ran postupdate via TCRP SSH - seemed to think I was on U3 but still worked. Weirdly rebooted back into TCRP loader again, so had to restart and manually select DSM.
  12. I'm not sure the CPU in the Gen8 can run the ds3617xs - you need to use the 3615xs instead I think. Works for me anyway. Think you may have to build the loader again as well.
  13. I went from 6.2.3 with no issues.
  14. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 3 - Loader version and model: RedPill DS3615xs v7.0.1-42218 - Using custom extra.lzma: No idea, so gonna say NO - Installation type: BAREMETAL - HP Microserver Gen8 (Intel Xeon E3-1260L) Notes - used RedPill Tinycore loader.
  15. So happy to read there is life in Xpenology yet... Massive thanks for all your hard work!
