It’s all good,  I appreciate everything the community does.  NIC is an easy fix if that’s all it is.  Part is already in the mail. Will report back when I confirm it’s working.

I ordered the Intel EXPI9301CT. Based on everything I read it seems compatible / recommended.

So how are things working out for you?  I have the same problem.  I am going to order the same unit you did.  Please update when you get a moment.

    Thanks

  2. I did search for this topic and it was a mixed bag, so I apologize in advanced if this has been ask/answered.

I am currently running a new (to me) DSM 6.1 build (15047). My hardware is:

    FM2 motherboard

    Athlon A6 CPU

    8 gigs DDR 3 RAM

    I/O Crest 4 Port SATA III Controller Card Marvell 9215 Non-Raid SI-PEX40064

    4x 3 Terabyte in RAID 6

    16g Corsair USB flash

    Standard VGA

I am wanting to install a couple of TV Tuners for a PLEX install.  I have on hand

2x AVerMedia A188 HD Duet - Dual ATSC PCI-E TV Tuner

Am I needing to install drivers for this?

Will this be good enough for trans-coding?

What would be recommended replacements of any of the above other that HD?

  3. Olegin,

Thank you for replying to this thread.

remy inform me when you need the complete package with loader and DSM PAT  version for the last DSM 5 Version it was 5967.1

Hey nemesis, thanks for the offer.  I have since took the dive and updated to 6.1. My issue now is finding a way to use my current RAID controller or find one that is already included in the 6.1 build.  Either works for me.  If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them.🙂

  5. I was able to watch this video and was able to get 6.1 installed and it migrated my 4.2 files and configuration.

I had the same issue as you with it freezing due to not having the correct synoboot. But once I figured that out.  I was able to get it done in less than 20 minutes.  That including the migrating of files.

Now I just need to figure out how to get my original RAID drive to be seen. I know its a driver issue. Just not sure where to go from here.

  6. I first want to apologize if this issue has been addressed. I searched this forum but did not find anything on this subject. If there is a thread on this, please kindly post it I will start my research there.

I am using a home built unit (custom PC with RAID 5, 4 disk) with the software noted below. It was installed using an USB drive. Does the USB drive need to be installed at all times? Or is it just needed for the install? I have never removed it to test.

When attempting to upgrade (even within the same version, like from 4.2-3211 to 4.2-3827) it fails either in error or in not completing process. I have read in some places to disable HTTPS and that has been done.

Process 1: Upgrading from within the system by letting it DL the next upgrade, in this case 4.2-3827.
    Start
    Download the recommended version
Get the DSM DL complete notice
    Click on Upgrade Now
Confirm with Yes on the next screen
"Preparing for system update" window pops up
Then get the Unknown Error Occurs (Error 21).
    End

Process 2: Upgrading from a manually downloaded 4.2-3827 on external drive
    Start
File downloaded to a folder that is shared with open access to all file read\write for everyone
    Select 3827
    Confirm on the next window
Transferring data to the server. Please wait...
After 2 mins, "Unknown Error occurs (Error No:21)
    End

Process 3: Upgrading from a manually downloaded 4.2-3827 on a folder from the NAS
    Start:
File downloaded to a folder that is on NAS that has open access to all \\DISKSTATION\music
    Select 3827
    Confirm on the next window
Transferring data to the server. Please wait...
Clears logs (Notice log window clearing out)
    Preparing for system update...
    And we wait......................................................
This is where it will sit for as long as I would let it.
Hit back button to end process and restart server.
    End

This time I just notice that the system is asking for JAVA. Not sure if this is going to help or hurt but I installed it successfully.

Process 4: Server Restarted and confirmed all services has stopped. Upgrading from within the system by letting it DL the next upgrade, in this case 4.2-3827.
    Start
    Download the recommended version
(Taking much longer to DL, this is after going thru system and turning down all services. Java v6.37 installed)
Get the DSM DL complete notice
    Click on Upgrade Now
Confirm with Yes on the next screen
"Preparing for system update" window pops up
Update Progress.... YAH!!!!! (Got all the way up to 3%)
Short lived... DSM Update: Unknown error occours (Error 21).
    End

Any assistance you can provide would be grateful

  7. I am hoping to revive this topic.  I never did get any assistance last time.  I am back in the mode now of trying yet again to get some answers.

Any assistance would be appreciated.  I think I can create another disk with 4.2 on it and boot it up instead of the 4.2 disk, but not sure.

The attached pic is of the error that I keep getting regardless of how I attempt the upgrade.

  8. I was told that I formed my last post badly.  I will attempt to ask the question another way.

I have a 4.2 server I am attempting to upgrade to at least v5.

I currently keep the Compact Flash drive in the computer because I am thinking it is needed to boot the system. Is  this true?

Does the OS reside on each of the drives in my array?

If I created a new compact flash drive with the new OS, will it see the older volume?

The array is managed by the controller not the OS.

    Thanks

  9. Polanskiman,

apologies for the hard to read post.  Just attempting to put everything in there that I can

If it was not clear, I am attempting to get off of 4.2  But keep running into the issues outlined in my post.

honestly at this point I would happy just to have an upgrade of any kind just to go thru to completion.

  11. Hello all,

The good news, I have successfully installed this on an AMD dual core CPU w/ 8gig ram. And its running on a 4 gig Compact Flash.

The no really bad but not good news either. While I have been getting things setup properly, I have run into a few issues I would like to get the collective groups idea on:

    * Is it possible to do teaming on network cards with two ports. I see that they are both active, but how do I determine that they are teaming or not. The card does not present a pre boot option.

    * I think I understand that I cannot get QuickConnect to work because these are unsanctioned machines that cannot register with Synology. But are there other options to host a Could service on the OS?

Otherwise, it seems to be pretty good sofar. I have not had it running that long but so far so good. But would like to get those two items figured out.

Thanks in advance for any help.
