  1. I checked as you mentioned, this was the output: root@ner0-NAS:~# ls /dev/dri card0 renderD128 root@ner0-NAS:~# cat /usr/syno/etc/codec/activation.conf {"success":true,"activated_codec":["hevc_dec","ac3_dec","h264_dec","h264_enc","aac_dec","aac_enc","mpeg4part2_dec","vc1_dec","vc1_enc"],"token":"123456789987654abc"} As you can see this is using a fixed token due to it being patched AME and not using official Synology account. The HEVC playback is working, but the HW acceleration doesn't seem to be working at all due to the high CPU usage as I mentioned previously, either that or not optimized at all. So far I've only tried using it with VideoStation, that's where I get the 60%-70% CPU usage while playing HEVC videos in the browser. EDIT: I also have this set of permissions, not sure if relevant: root@ner0-NAS:~# ls -al /dev/dri/ total 0 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 80 Jul 23 22:20 . drwxr-xr-x 14 root root 13980 Jul 23 22:21 .. crw------- 1 root root 226, 0 Jul 23 22:20 card0 crw-rw---- 1 root videodriver 226, 128 Jul 23 22:20 renderD128
  2. CPU is Intel i5-4590T + iGPU Intel HD Graphics 4600 DS920+ auto-generated SN, synocodectool patch applied to all 5 paths available AME shows enabled HEVC but greyed-out AAC (although AAC still plays), yet the result is the same in that the CPU usage is 99% by ffmpeg alone. EDIT: Cleaned everything and started from scratch, now CPU load is at 60%-70% - it's still a lot considering that in Windows it uses around 1% CPU and 5% iGPU - unsure if this can be further optimized.
  3. I can play HEVC videos now, but the CPU is maxed out, this is expected, right? I suppose DSM can't access any HW acceleration technology and the CPU ends up doing all the heavy lifting. Correct me if I'm wrong because I'd be interested in playing HEVC files without lighting the CPU on fire.
  4. This has happened a second time now. Things that might be of note: - Target model and DSM: DS920+ & DSM v7.1.1 build 42962 - Build process failed to start the first time with a config corrupt message, says to reset model - I select the model and version again, and I also insert custom MAC (Synology, but different than the generated) - Build process doesn't seem to present errors, although I did not save the log. After restarting, once again the boot fails with cmdline parameter cuting after dom_szmax=1024 NOTE: Custom MAC appears to have been ignored
  5. Only the 2 mentioned in my initial comment:
  6. While this doesn't seem to have made it better or worse, I've build and installed about 15 instances in the past 2 hours and only a couple did not go through completely for unrelated reasons. I seem to be doing exactly the same things I did yesterday, but today almost everything is installing flawlessly. One issue I had was TCRP Friend presenting one IP address on screen while DSM was actually using another. This is not really a failure, but at least could constitute a bug. Here's a screenshot of that: The second issue I had was actually a bad cmdline in the loader, which happened to be built through HTML Builder (although most worked fine), here's a screenshot: Anyway, I don't know how or why I kept banging my head and having the VM always shutdown, today it hasn't happened once so everything seems to be working fine. Thank you!
  7. I need some help figuring out why a VM with DSM shuts down as soon as I try to access the web interface (after DSM installation). Quick summary: Host: - CPU: Intel i7 3370K - Hypervisor: VMware Workstation 16.x Guest: - 8 GB RAM; - 1 CPU, 4 cores; - 1 SATA HDD with TCRP image (tinycore-redpill.v0.9.4.6.vmdk); - 1 SATA HDD with 25GB (for DSM); - 1 Ethernet adapter, bridge mode (tried e1000, e1000e, vmxnet3); I tried 2 models (DS920+ and DS3622xs+), using DSM v7.1.1 build 42962; tried the usual manual route from SSH and also using the HTML builder. In both cases I can start the installation fine, but it is suspiciously quick in my opinion; goes from 0% to 8%, then after 5 seconds jumps to 40%, 55%, 56%, 57%, 58%, 59%, and restarts leaving the browser with a 10min. countdown. After restarting, whenever I try to load DSM web page I immediately get a 502 error - white page with Synology logo and the message "Sorry, the page you are looking for is not found." and then the VM just shuts down after 3 seconds. Note: After "installing", on next boot friend reports "Ramdisk upgrade has been detected zImage upgrade has been detected". I did have some other minor issues before this but was able to find information that pointed me in teh right direction, but this one has me completely stumped, especially due to the lack of verbosity (afaik). Can this be due to the nature of the platform combination with VM and TCRP support for those being shaky/recent? Do I need to include any special module during the build? I am unsure if there is something that I'm doing wrong here, I've only ever installed on baremetal but this time I'm trying to use virtual for testing purposes. I'd be glad to provide more details or logging info if anyone cares to help out. Anyway, appreciate any help I can get. Thanks. test.mp4
