  1. Just upgraded from my old setup (4th gen) to a new Intel 8th gen one, but no matter what beta release or model I pick during setup, I can never get passed the booting screen after picking "Boot loader'. Neither Syno Assistant or my router finds anything with an ip. Have tried with three different USB drives now and still the same. I thought it was my NIC that was the the problem (i219), but if I take the usb from the old setup with 918+ Alpha1 - then it works. Except for HW transcoding which I kinda need. Only difference is that the ip listed during setup/boot have a different ending (56 vs 169). Does anyone have any tips whatsoever, so I can get HW transcoding working again? Would also be nice to get on the beta releases instead, but not a showstopper. EDIT: Ahh can see on github that more users are having issues when there is more than two drives. Will wait for at fix then
  2. Thank you very much for this - helped on my baremetal. - DSM version DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 1 - Loader version and model: Automated Redpill Loader 0.5 alpha 1, DS918+ - Installation type: Baremetal (Gigabyte GA-H97N-WIFI – Intel i3-4170 - 8gb ram - 6 drives) Before the above fix: ARPL 918+ https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/19595117 Linux 4.4.180+ x86_64 198 Single-Core Score 419 Multi-Core Score After the above fix: ARPL 918+ https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/19595197 Linux 4.4.180+ x86_64 891 Single-Core Score 1851 Multi-Core Score
  3. Ahh searched a bit more and found something. So will try this first. Disregard the above post.
  4. Update on this - almost everything still works. Except for shutdown - I can make it shutdown, but it turns back on after a few minutes. Have gone over the forum and can see that people with Proxmox etc. have had this issue, but I don't use Proxmox. The only way to shut down the NAS is to push the power button until it turns off. Can anyone point me in the direction of af forum post with a fix? In the log it says: 2022-10-17 10:49:38 - SYSTEM - System started to boot up 2022-10-17 10:46:54 - admin - System started counting down to shutdown
  5. Hi, I'm adding a JMicron JMB585 pci 3.0 x4 PCI SATA board - are there any risks of adding the drives to the existing diskgroup or is it better to create a new group with only the drives from the PCI? By adding to the existing group I can avoid having to use another disk as backup in raid, so just wanted to check.
  6. I used the same loader yesterday as you can see on page 38 - yes, DS918+ is there and it works. So are you sure that your CPU is supported?
  7. Thank you for the automated tool – easy and straight forward to use. Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: new baremetal – DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 1 - Loader version and model: Automated Redpill Loader 0.5 alpha1, DS918+ - Using custom extra.lzma: NA - Installation type: Baremetal (Gigabyte GA-H97N-WIFI – i3-4170) - Additional comments: HW Transcoding in Plex works Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DS918+ DSM 6.2 JUN loader -> DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 1 - Loader version and model: Automated Redpill Loader 0.5 alpha 1, DS918+ - Using custom extra.lzma: NA - Installation type: Baremetal (Gigabyte GA-H97N-WIFI – i3-4170) - Additional comments: HW Transcoding in Plex works + Docker (Haugene) works
  8. Yes, i'm fully aware of that - H/W transcoding is only used when streams are from outside my home. It is what i'm using today on JUN dsm6.2 DS918. Sometimes i'm looking at 5-6 streams at the same times, so my CPU struggles. That's why HW is important for me. At home I direct play everything.
  9. Hi Peter, You are absolutely correct - it will be a regular 12100, not the F version. So UHD 730. Since the DS3522xs is Xeon based I assume that it will not work with Plex HW transcoding? So can I use REDPILL DS918+ for HW Transcoding or does it not work with 12th gen Intel?
  10. Hi, Sorry if I’m posting in the wrong forum - can't seem to find an answer when searching around. I’m looking into building a new Xpenology to replace my old i3-4170 DSM 6.2 version, but I can’t seem to figure out if Alder Lake is fully supported. I don’t care if its DSM 6.2 or 7 – whatever works with HW transcoding. I use it mainly for Plex and some Docker. What I’m looking into: Motherboard: ASRock Z690 PG Riptide with 8 SATA ports (LAN: Killer E3100G*) CPU: Intel Core i3-12100F Alder Lake *or maybe just buy a gigabit usb/pci network card, if E3100G does not work. So, will the above work with HW transcoding and should I go with 6.2 or 7.1?
