  1. I'm not sure if you have seen Wolfgang's Channel on youtube, he has cool contents on building NAS but one of the videos was interesting and came handy on building SOHO NAS (at least for me). There is a German forum that the whole community is working and keeping tabs on their NAS consumption and keep posting their findings in an Excel sheet which shows the builds that are under 30W. Big shoutout to each and everyone of them if they ever see this comment. It's candyland there, you can even find builds that idle at 6 to 7w !!! Here is that video, around 2:28 if u want to save time but i would suggest watching the whole video even though it's long Here is the thread, and here is the sheet
  2. So today I changed my platform to DS923+ and updated the DSM to DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 4 with the help of ARPL and since I have a 10Gb NIC which, I chucked it along with a M.2 NVMe (Silicon Power M.2 NVMe gen 3 1tb) to use it as a drive (this whole update/upgrade was to be able to use it as a drive). Everything seemed fine, the 10gb NIC showed up and NVMe drive showed up as well and I erased it to create a storage pool just to find out that not all M.2 are supported! The device is there but it cant be initialized! The So my questions are: Can Silicon Power M.2 NVMe gen 3 1tb be used as drive? If not, I have a 980 PRO Samsung which is still packed, can that be used? I cant find anything on the forum related to using NVMe as a drive (i dont want to use it as an SSD Cache) and on reddit someone said not to use a PRO Samsung as its a waste?!? Now I'm just looking for a way to make this work and I will take any help I can get.
  3. Yessir. Long live arpl . Got it working with DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 2 on DS920+
  4. So I tried migrating to 918+ with arpl, didnt get the option. but I was successful with 920+ on arpl and went with DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 2 and Vollah. Thank you very much for the help mate
  5. none of those extensions are for 920p geminilake-7.1.0-42661 ! or can I use a different one? okay, the moment of truth, I'm not a expert like most of you guys are and I tried booting into tcrp. Since my knowledge on this whole thing is not sufficient, I tried to add necessary extension by running "./rploader.sh listmods geminilake-7.1.0-42661" and I keep getting "Error: Platform not found"! what am I doing wrong here? p.s. in my user_config.json the model is ds3622xs+ while when i boot into my DSM, the info tab says im using ds920+ ! its probably bcoz i migrated from ds3622xs+ but shouldnt this info be updated?
  6. Hope all ya tech whiz are doing fine. I am currently running DS920+ with DSM 7.1-42661 Update 1 on TCRP. Recently I purchased a Mellanox ConnectX-3 Pro Dual Port 10Gb SFP Network Interface Card (MCX312B-XCCT) and chucked it in the machine but nothing comes up in my Network Interface tab. I searched and i found out some of the Network cards needs additional drivers and dependencies must be added by extension in the Tiny Core. So my first question is, if i want to add this extension, do I need to start from the top of this tutorial ? if not, how can I add the extension which contains the drivers for MCX312B-XCCT without reinstall the whole thing?
  7. So for those with similar issue, I have removed the Synology Drive and removed the @synologydrive_16... file from and the NAS immediately freed up the space. Been running with no problem for the past 2 hours and I rebooted the NAS just in case to see if anything shows up but everything is working fine. I'm gonna go ahead and mark this as resolved.
  8. I wasn't using it till your comment. So I installed it and it was empty! Could it be from the previous DSM which I migrated from? Tried it and here is just the first page result: 160320356 . 140776316 ./repo 46094768 ./repo/2 20646552 ./repo/M 19116544 ./delta 12582040 ./repo/2/P 10462276 ./repo/p 9614528 ./repo/I 9583160 ./repo/2/J 7368612 ./repo/2/G 6760548 ./repo/2/P/.W 6760548 ./repo/2/J/.6 6760548 ./repo/2/G/.I 6308108 ./repo/2/u 6043568 ./delta/4 5548404 ./delta/8 4855004 ./repo/2/A 4440188 ./delta/4/.1 4221376 ./repo/I/.7 4141692 ./repo/M/.p 4053064 ./repo/H 3857256 ./repo/M/.l 3699976 ./repo/2/I 3632408 ./repo/P 3623596 ./repo/P/.G 2903960 ./repo/.v 2835680 ./repo/p/._ 2682996 ./delta/8/.9 2664564 ./delta/8/.a 2640796 ./repo/p/.- 2578536 ./repo/I/.c 2474292 ./repo/M/.I 2375736 ./repo/A 2326124 ./repo/K 2300688 ./repo/M/.F 2175932 ./repo/K/.h 2171112 ./repo/q 2169376 ./repo/q/.e 2099592 ./repo/M/.B 2071480 ./repo/A/.6 2011620 ./repo/M/.N 1959284 ./delta/7 1956368 ./repo/.q 1760232 ./repo/.d 1754456 ./repo/s 1733692 ./repo/2/A/.w 1733692 ./repo/2/A/.M 1708108 ./repo/.K 1708108 ./repo/.D 1655864 ./delta/5 1595116 ./repo/.u 1575672 ./repo/2/u/.4 1543640 ./repo/2/u/.7 1533684 ./repo/.F 1529680 ./repo/.c 1512456 ./repo/.b 1446316 ./repo/2/u/.5 1361160 ./repo/.i 1338056 ./repo/.e 1266120 ./repo/I/.1 1256560 ./repo/.o 1194404 ./delta/2 --More-- And the list goes on ... I suspect it is! and I read the post which you sent (thank you btw). they said they couldn't get the space back?!? and they didn't reply if they found a solution for it! So I'm not sure if its safe to remove it or not! What do you think?
  9. I have a small setup for some of the everyday stuff, which my friends and I dump our files and movies there till we have time to get to them and sort them/move them to where they should be. Recently I have noticed that a big chunk of one of the storage (volume1) is taken by an unknown directory that does not belong to any of us (the drive is 215Gb, and this directory is 153Gb!). So now I'm wondering what this directory is for? Is it the indexing of my files/drives? If not, can I remove it(or at least clean it somehow)? Or how can I reduce its size? Some info that may/may not be useful: Directory location: /volume1/@synologydrive_1647715418/@sync DSM version: DSM 7.1-42661 Update 1 Loader version and model: DS920+ Installation type: BAREMETAL
  10. thank you for the guide, works perfectly, I was using 6.2.3 and migrated to 7.1.0 CPU: i5-3470T MB: Dell D28YY Optiplex 790 Sff RAM: 12gb tinycore-redpill.vX.X.X.img.gz geminilake-7.1.0-42661 DSM920+
