hi there, I re-installed xpenology due to having problems with plex. I took out my drives with the data on them and re-installed xpenology on my boot primary drive. nothing else goes on this drive. after it was up and running and put my other 3 drives back in and downloaded the apps I use inc plex. everything is back up and running but I cant seem to get my photos and music to show up. the folders and data are still on the drives but its as if synology doesn't see the folders... any one have any ideas?

hi there im on DSM 5.1-5022 Update 5 and use the plex app. now for the last few weeks I have to re-install plex as it will not allow me to access the server remotely. it works fine for a few days then I get the message "Version 0.9.12.1 Not available outside your network Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network. Learn more" ports are forwarded correctly for plex as it works fine for a few days, trying to distinguish if its a plex fault (plex forums not being very helpfull) or a xpenology problem. the only way I can get it back up and running is to delete everything to do with the plex server and plex user, and re-install plex again. ive tried different plex server builds and all end up with the same result. nothing has really changed on my nas as once its up and running for plex, teamspeak and photo/music station I leave it alone. ive had plex running for over 12 months and this has just started playing up.. just a heads up, my server switches off every day at 1am , so its not running constantly 24-7 any one?

hi there, if you haven't already upgraded to 5.1 I changed the following in : usbstick boot\grub file: menu_nano.lst change the serial number and add mac: timeout 5 default 0 fallback 1 title Nanoboot (5.0.3.2) DSM 5.0-4528 root (hd0,0) kernel /zImage ihd_num=0 netif_num=4 syno_hw_version=DS3612xs sn=xxxxxxxxxxx mac1=000000000000 vid=0x0EA0 pid=0x2168 loglevel=0 vga=0x305 title Main Menu configfile (hd0,0)/boot/grub/menu.lst I did this first in my windows file explorer , but it didn't apply the changes, so I redone it in the sinology file browser

ive edited my file in /usr/syno/etc/packages/feeds using the above.....all the websites show in the source settings...but now all I get is "all packages installed" under community apps. It no longer shows any apps. edit: Downgraded to dsm 5.0 and all back up and running

Hi there, everything seems to be working fine including my quick connect on a bare metal machine, but just a quick question about changeing the serial and MAC address. I have set up a synology account with this serial and mac, but I don't own the original box. Is my data still safe ? It's just to put my mind at ease that's all. Don't want my machines quick connect showing up on a friends account lol

I dont think you need to wet anyones anticipation, you will make a lot of folks very happy with this release , and like me , many cant wait to see this latest release. I hope everything is on track and you get all the donations the team deserves. I will soon need a new f5 button lol.

hi there, ive got xpenology running on bare metal (I think that's what you call it) and I run plex. the thing is the plex app is outdated on my dsm 5.0 can I just install the latest plex app from the plex site? the one for synology nas? thanks

Hi there, wandering if any one can help... I've got a domain name with 123-reg.co.uk and I just went to put the details in the DNS part of xpenology. Only to find the provider isn't listed So I've read I can edit ddns_provider.conf but I don't know what to put in the query= bit. Any one help

Hi there and thanks for the reply.... That's exactley what I did, but on the desktop the name is there but no icon. Will reboot and retry it. Also is there a way I can monitor cup temps? I don't thinkthe info in the information centre is correct as it always stays green and reports 40c . Just want to make sure it's ok for 24/7 usage. I did set bios to let me know if it goes over 60c but the main board doesn't have a header fora speaker so don't know how it would alert me lol.

Ok so I bit the bullet and installed the latest xpenology, and everything went fine. Had some message about hard drives but clicked repair and everything good to go. There is one thing though , there is no icon for the virus protection app on the desktop.

Hi there, Im a noob when it comes to this so ill just explain what I have done so far. my system consists of : asrock b75m-itx intel 3470 4 gig ram 250 watt psu unas nsc-400 case 1 x 1tb hdd 2 x 2tb hdd I used cyanlabs no exsi, no usb. the image went straight on the hard drive. (1tb drive) it was using version 5.0 - 4493 the other 2 hard drives are used as simple volumes and no raid. they both have movies, tv series etc on them and used with plex. there are also movies on the 1tb drive which xpenology is installed on. Due to the new update , I have been in touch with cyanlabs and you cant just update the image, it needs a new installation. and the person that runs cyanlabs is very busy at the moment. so here goes....if I copy the data from the 1tb drive over to a spare drive, then reinstall the latest xpenology using the usb method... 1. will I lose the data on the other 2 drives? 2. is there a way to migrate the 2 drives back into the new installation.? 3. after installation of the new xpenology , will it boot straight into dsm? this is why I don't normaly touch......I don't want to lose everything stored on the drives.... cheers chris
