Hey! Thank you for recommending that awesome "Friend Loader", it worked, really quick and easy build. So now i begin some testing on BareMetal Question: I have in that PC one NVME drive and DSM7 is not able to recognize it. Is there anyway (preferably easy) to make it work?

Hi Guys! I wanted to ask few questions about redpill loader. 1. it is worth it to run it on BareMetal? 2. is it reliable for basic tasks? 3. Whats yours experience with DSM7 on BareMetal? Some background info: i used Juns loader BareMetal DSM 6 for maybe year or so, with absolutely no problems really liked it, inspired me to someday buy real synology, chosing between some of the better ones when i save up some money, this NAS system is Awesome! I tried DSM 7 RedPill on VMs, Oracle virtual box, ProxMox, was testing camera recordings from survailance station, multiple users downloading some files at once, Raid funcionality, just basic stuff, and it runs Awesome. Everything is working great BUT only tried the VMs. So in reality the question is should i migrate my old NAS DSM6 to DSM7? on my DSM6 i use only basic functions: -Synology Moments (backing up photos from Phone) -General Backing up Files manualy -Plex -Camera Recording for my home door camera 2x 1TB Raid 1 3x 250gb HDD Raid5 1x old ssd for speedup but never noticed difference it is old PC i had around 12years picking dust, gave it second life. Hi, i have been wondering, it is possible to set up email notificaiton when system powers on and about to shut down? some of my friends are using my NAS for Plex streaming and some kind of stuff, i shut down and power on automaticaly with tasks every day and some times i shut it down if i know i wont be using it some time (why leave it on when no one is using it) i would like to automaticaly send emails so they know is it posible? DSM 6.1.7, DS3615xs Thank you

im scared a want be as much ready as possible, because some time ago i accidentaly updated and restarted the system, it never boots up after that... found thread on this forum that i needed fix USB loader because its corrupted so i reflashed it, boots up normaly, system asked me if i want to restore system and files, so i click yes, nothing just only reboot and loader again ...corrupted,, and second option was that i insert new clean HDD instal DSM and then i turn off plug in my old HDDs and click restore... again nothing just reboot and corrupted loader on USB.... tryed both ways, only corrupted loader no progress... so i format both HDD drives and install it again, lucky it had not much files on them -but i think it was because the newer not supported version was still on the HDDs so it maybe tryed to restore that idk... hope you understand my english

like imagine this... my actual PC crashed, so i take out both HDDs (i have Raid1) put them in new PC reconfigure my Loader on USB, boot it up and it should just run? or i will need to reinstal same version of DSM and it asks me if i want to restore or something? Thank you very much for your time

dont wanna run 2 PC, for now i have just one, now i want to prepare for worst case scenario

Hi Guys, been using Xpenology for a long while now, even considering buyng real synology, i have it on old computer (maybe 10years old) but with good specs. the biggest fear i have, what if my machine suddenly decide to stop working? is possible to instal DSM on a new PC? same version of DSM... IDK, wanna be ready for that situation,, any of you had similiar experience? sorry if its in wrong section, was unable to find this kind of question, acc made just now Thank you
