  1. When you set up you drive, which raid type did you choose? SHR or Raid 1? If Raid 1 you may need to change it to Raid 5 before the NAS will recognize the disks. Look here: https://kb.synology.com/en-au/DSM/help/DSM/StorageManager/storage_pool_change_raid_type?version=7
  2. So weird thing happened. I built the loader using ARPL and waited for the system to reboot... it didn't reboot after 10 minutes, so I forced shutdown and then rebooted. After the reboot I got an IP with Synology Assistant and was able install DSM 7. Give a hard reboot a try.
  3. Are you able to set your SATA Emulation to AHCI only? I have a Z400 at work that I can test with later today. I can let you know what I find if you haven't solved the problem by then.
  4. Don't look at the R710, R720 or R730 servers for a music studio unless you have a closet to put them in. Although the fans do quiet down after they boot, they can get noisy under stress. I have a R620 beside my desk for testing and when turned on the noise is very noticable. My HP Z8 is quiet and not noticeable at all. I would find a 9th gen Intel mobo/cpu combo and a case you can live with to build something custom and quiet.
  5. Without more information about your hardware, platform and loader you are using???… help us help you…
  6. If you want to build a DS920+ you should try ARPL. Its a dts (device tree) platform so extra configuration is needed. I also had a hard time building a DS920+ with TCRP, so I gave ARPL a try and it works great.
  7. I also have an old Optiplex 390 that I have not been able to install DSM 7.x.x on. I don't think it can be used for Xpenology. I have tried DS3615, DS3617 DS1621 and DS3622 with TCRP, ARPL and M Shell. I get the same "No drives detected" message. The processor is too old for most other platforms.. so I did no try any others I have read somewhere that the 390's SATA controller is to blame because there are a number of dummy ports that you cannot disable or bypass because of the basic BIOS settings. I also have an Optiplex 3020 that installs most platforms that I have tested on it.
  8. Yes that card will work. You will still need to add the itch driver, and it can be found here: https://github.com/pocopico/rp-ext/commit/cb4f272bb4183c6f332e0465748785407be1385d https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/igc/rpext-index.json
  9. Which loader di you use? This is if your NIC is the RL8125.. NOT the RL8125B. If you are using TCRP, you will have to rebuild the loader after you add the driver for the card. ./rploader.sh ext <your platform>-7.1.0-42661 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/r8125/rpext-index.json ./rploader.sh build <your platform>-7.1.0-42661 or ./rploader.sh build <your platform>-7.1.0-42661 withfriend (if you used friend)
  10. In your bios look for boot options.. What is your motherboard and CPU?
  11. Is your boot options set to legacy boot or UEFI?
  12. Please correct me if I am wrong, but the only way I am aware of to boot TCRP and ARPL on bare metal is with a USB stick. See here: And here:
  13. Try moving your 4tb drives to SATA 1 and 2 and leave the SSD disconnect for now. DSM is installed across all hard drives and definitely not just to a SSD. Try your build again with just the two 4tb drives. I would still suggest the DS1621+ for your hardware.
  14. Have you tried ARPL? You don't have to worry about dummy ports with that loader: Is your motherboard a Ryzen model? I googled it and it came up as an AMD mobo. You may want to switch to the DS1621+ for your hardware if it is. Have a look here:
  15. I believe that card needs a driver to be added. Have you tried adding the "hpsa" driver before you built the loader?
  16. You are following the tutorial for bare metal installs: You need to follow the tutorial for ESXI: But, if you are looking to get more camera licenses, consider building a DVA1622. You will get 8 licenses with that model.
  17. I believe you are following the wrong guide. There is one for bare metal that requires a USB stick to boot. Then there is the one that is for ESXI that you boot from a SATA drive (the one you need to follow): Both were created by @flyride and they both work well.
  18. Yeah.. looks like an old PERC 6/i. You are better off trying to sell it because I don't think there is any IT firmware fir it.
  19. Its in the Loader Releases & Extras section:
  20. What card did you remove from the DellT110? Are you able to flash that to IT mode?
  21. No it does not. Even though its a permanent part of the Xpenology system, the USB flash drive is only used to boot the system. The DSM (OS) is installed on your larger SATA/SAS drives. What tasks are you performing when you get "medium performance"? What platform are you using?
  22. Are you using the correct image? Do you have your BIOS configured correctly? Is the USB set as the first boot option? To better understand the process of building a 7.1 box, please read through this: And this:
  23. I think you will be fine for years to come, especially with the hardware frendly DS3622xs+. Don't be too concerned keeping up with the latest DSM updates, I still have a box that I run DSM 6.2.3-25423 on. The others I have updated to 7.1.1, but one of them is just for testing. Don't update until its okay to do so from the developers.. especially since this is your production box. See here: As far as 10 gig NIC cards go, I don't use any because as of right now, I don't have a need to.. But @painkiller895 noted that they tried an Intel X520-SR2 that works out of the box:
  24. @Onknight I have to say, there is something to be said about keeping thing simple and removing anything you may not need. I have a Dell R620 with a H310 flashed to IT mode still using SAS drives using TRCP with Peter Suh's Mshell I built a RS4021xs+ A custom built PC with a Gigabyte motherboard with a 9th gen CPU and 4 x 4tb Seagate NAS drives with just and added NIC, DS918+ used TCRP I do feel that ARPL works very well.. especially for device-tree-based models like the DS920+ and DS1621+.
