  1. you can login as admin via ssh but you have to turn on home directory on user accounts
  2. anyone know what is for 'stage2' file in DSM5.0 pat? cause it does not appear in DSM5.1-beta and maybe its the problem with running it on xpenology?
  3. virtualbox, esxi or bare metal? and pat file downloaded from synology site or thru web instaler? also installation thru web installer or with synology agent?
  4. looks like its related to DSM5.0-4493 update 7 cause i dont had it installed
  5. strange. i installed 5.0-4528 on virtualbox VM few times without problems, also on ESXi 5.1. it was upgraded from 5.0-4493 and clean install
  6. yes. all installation steps like with 4493, just upgrade number need to be changed to 4528. you can download pat file from synology or let it be downloaded when upgrading thru web
  7. for bare metal option is needed to change menu_install.lst file the same way: kernel /zImage ihd_num=0 netif_num=4 syno_hw_version=DS3612xs sn=B3J4N01003 vid=0x0EA0 pid=0x2168 loglevel=0 vga=0x305 upgrade=5.0-4528
  8. there is no problem with installing new version (4528). 1. start xpenology 2. in menu chose install/upgrade 3. click tab 4. change to upgrade=5.0-4528
  9. it is hard coded in DSM. since DS3612xs is sold only with i3 processor then there is no need to to find proc type and display other than i3, so programmers hard coded this info. about system for DS415+. i found that its possible to install DSM for some RackStations, like RS3614xs+. i think so any DSM from segment 'Large scale business' will work, but not luck with DS415+
  10. My bad, i missed that its only about those systems. But i found hack for myself to run VM with DSM5.1 and installed volumes even when system dont see hard disks. only thing i am struggling with atm is that package manager cant connect to internet or there are no packages for DSM5.1-beta. Its not the cleanest way and i still testing it: 1. install DSM5.0 2. create volume for installing CMS 3. install CMS and add this server to it 4. create cluster volume (required at least 3 drives for raid5) 5. install DSM5.1-beta ps dont turn off CMS when DSM5.1 is up and running cause it will break volumes EDIT restarting VM also break volumes, they disappeared
  11. There is one more thing i found. After upgrading to DSM5.1 fdisk -l shows nothing, even if /dev/hdX are partitioned and initialized
  12. Then my last thought is to "migrate" system. Which mean You have to reinstall system with migrate option. I dont know which system settings will be lost but you will not lost files on volumes, shared folders etc. Dont know what will happened with iSCSI LUNs (if You have any).
  13. Check Synology assistant, maybe will show option to configure system
  14. Something goes wrong, cause i still have Storage Analyzer on DSM5.1 update 1. Can You upload somewhere upload exported VM in ovf (not ova) format? Maybe its something with VM configuration? W/o hard drives off course
  15. i figured out the same. in DSM5.0 raid is build on sdX and under DSM5.1 on hdX. i think its related with that: its from DSM5.1 release notes. in my case the problem is that after using this procedure cat /proc/mdstat is showing that that md0 and md1 are build on sdX and i dont know how to change it or just delete md0 and md1 manually.
  16. "/usr/syno/sbin/synospace --enum -a" shows me nothing.. same here. synospace --enum with any option shows nothing.
  17. i was able to run xpenology on bare metal with 2 IDE + 1 sata disks with no problem. just 1 of IDE disks still got overheated, but i think its not related with xpenology. DSM 5.0-4493
