  1. Please see here for my latest results:
  2. Cheers IG-88 and hemp. I tried another USB3 card, this was a Dell x1 slot only too so freed up the larger lane. Speed was less than the previous USB card, around 160 Mbytes/s write and just over 200 read. The transfer speed was more stable though, less up and down in speeds across the 60GB transfer. Running Karen's Replicator was no issue and files were still copying when I stopped it. Whereas on previous USB card it would cease. I did try a Windows 10 install, was thinking maybe doing W10 and a 6GB/s RAID card. Speeds were about 185 MBytes/s write and read up at 250. This was from a single 250GB SSD in slot 1. With your help I went down the driver route with extras, I got the appropriate v.0.12.1 for my DSM3617xs and boom, the card showed straight away. Initial speeds and Karen's Replicator results look promising. So hopefully I have long term stability, 2.5GBe network speed and also high speed USB3.1 in the old Microserver. If NOT, then it's Tinycore Redpill for DSM7.1
  3. Ah OK, so I should move to v7 and see from there. So the TP-Link 10GBe card is NOT likely to work on 6.2? I have tonight tried a different USB3 card, it's bench marking slower but seems more stable - Karens Replicator copying very happily right now
  4. I did just find this: https://github.com/bb-qq/r8152/issues/121 From my understanding, this will work with Xpenology (any version) and supports 2.5GBe?
  5. So I did some more testing the Sabrent USB 2.5GBe, I had to add the auto script to get it running after boot - I added a delay as it was NOT working and I suspected the USB driver hadn't yet loaded before the script was trying to enable the ethernet sleep 1m ifconfig eth3 up synonet –dhcp eth3 All seemed well, did a few large transfers, left it streaming 4K movie. Next I decided to update the files on the Microserver from the other unit using Karen's Replicator. This is where it fails, so after a period of time doing the data transfers the ethernet stops talking. Unplug the ethernet cable and re-insert, back running again (on the USB 2.5GBE). So I decided to try the PCI-E 2.5GBe, Edimax (chips says RTL8125AG). Sadly it's not seen in Xpenology. I am running DSM 6.2-23739, is there an extras package for this version with an RTL8125 driver? Do I need to move to a higher version of DSM?
  6. So the system was up and remained stable for over 20 days, this was with only the 1GBe LAN plugged in - the 2.5GBe still showed as available though. I created the auto task as per instructions online to get the USB 2.5GBe working after boot, worked fine when I ran script after booting and on 1GBe. It did NOT work when booting with only 2.5GBe connected to LAN. As I am running a PCI USB3 card, I thought maybe the script ran too early - trying to enable the 2.5GBe before the UBS3 card is even loaded. As such, I set a delay in the script, now works. sleep 1m ifconfig eth3 up synonet –dhcp eth3 Please note I am eth3 as I also have a dual 1GBe adapter installed, not being used. It was still working after 24h, only went down as power company works meant I had no power all day today. So I am thinking, when I booted with 1GBe on the LAN, then enabled the 2.5GBe and unplugged the 1GBe cable - the 2.5GBe then fails after some time. Is it trying to default back to the LAN it started on? So now that I have the 2.5GBe from startup all is good. I will see how it goes over the next few days. The Edimax PCI 2.5GBe has arrived, the chip says RTL8125AG -so fingers crossed it works. Unfortunately I just sold my spare Microserver and I am hesitant to make changes (for testing) if this USB 2.5GBe stays working
  7. I would be keen to know which specific files you used, at the moment on my N40L I am trying a USB 2.5GBe adapter I have a PCI-E 2.5GBe on order (EN-9225TX-E Edimax) - have not been able to verify if it's RTL8125 or B version. So I'm guessing my 6.2-23739 won't have that driver installed and I will need to move to 6.2.3?
  8. So long term stability might be an issue, needs investigating (1GBe vs 2.5GBe over several hours). I have ordered a PCI-E 2.5GBe (RTL8125B) card, see how that goes. If all good I could then try the Adaptec 6805t, P410 and/or LSI 9260. Perhaps the write speed will increase. Ideal outcome is stability with 2.5GBe and USB3 support, if that comes off I'll sell the DS1512+
  9. So took a chance and migrated from DSM5.2 to the 6.2 (above). That went just fine. The system has 6x 4TB drives: writing to N40L averaged 175 MBytes/s and reading 253 MBytes/s - single 60GB ISO file (see images) For a $50 (AUD) adapter that's a nice upgrade
  10. I actually bought a DS1512+ while I was taking the N40L offline, originally, I planned to get that at 2.5GBe but it doesn't work. The N40L does though: N40L Jun's loader for DS3617xs (6.2-23739) DSM 6.2-23739 from Synology Website R8152 2.15.0 Broadwell Drivers Silverstone ECU03 USB Card - sadly PCI-E Gen2.0 x2, I need a x1 so then I can try some faster RAID cards too Sabrent USB 2.5GBe ethernet adapter With a single 250GB SSD installed, I can read from the N40L at average 282MBytes/s, at this moment in time (just got it running) the write speed averages to 65MBytes/s. So I am losing 1/3 in write speed for 2.5x the read speed. More testing to come
  11. On behalf of a friend, running DSM5.2 on an N36L, already tried a new boot USB stick but still getting this on bootup: Xpen.mp4
  12. Hi Team, My mate has an issue very similar to this, have attached the video (hope it shows). He has tried a NEW USB boot but no help, any ideas? Xpen.mp4
