  2. Hy everybody,

I use a Xpenology NAS with asrock Q1900itx mainboard. I have a problem with 6.0.2 or 6.1 xpenoboot. Unfortunately, I can not install nothing. If I try 5.2 it's run, but the 6.0.2, or 6.1 not. The install stop with error 21. I get this error message. https://www.dropbox.com/s/73d8a0f249k88 ... k.jpg?dl=0

    What I do wrong?

    Can somebody help me?

Take Jun's latest loader (v1.02a2), write it to an USB flash and try again but with the 6.1 DS3617xs latest .pat file

My suggestion is to restore all configurations to factory settings (and keep the data).

    This worked for me

  3. Question for you guys. What would be the purpose of have such a powerfull PC for XPEnology?

Because lots of guys want Plex transcoding for multiple clients in the same time

  4. This latest beta version has been working fine for me on my HP Gen 8 running Jun's 1.02 Alpha loader and 6.1 Update 1.

I did notice it didn't automatically shut down the guest VM when I rebooted DSM, but I'm not sure if that has ever worked.

Do you have the Open-VM-tools installed?

  5. Looks like the DSM 6.1 GPL sources are currently being added https://sourceforge.net/projects/dsgpl/

Indeed. As we speak! Not sure all the source code is included though looking at the size of the source. We shall wait they finish the uploads.

Apparently they're done. As far as I see, all the sources we need are available.

Synology also made a Docker/KVM package/image available, so I was thinking, maybe it would be possible to use a baseline Linux distro with Docker/KVM, and run it inside that? That way most of the hackery to get around their security wouldn't be needed.

That would rock, but I guess they locked it to run only on DSM.

Need some Elder Geek to check if it's doable

  6. I was able to get 6.0 running in gen 1 hyper-v but it comes up as 100mbps and the image i use did not allow upgrade. What i am going to try is to do the nic SR-IOV and see if that works in gen 2 hyper-v; will net you now

    That's great medric!

    I could test, if needed

  7. I got rid of Syno cams and replaced them with a Blink for Home system (https://blinkforhome.com/).

They're just awesome for the average Joe in need for a basic but smart camera security system.

Oh cool, so do they just upload their footage to the cloud or do they have internal storage you can access too?

Yeah, currently all recordings are in their (free) cloud. They announced the feature to add local USB storage to the sync module a year ago but didn't really know if they added it. I never needed it and never tried it, but seems that it's still not implemented (https://blinkinfo.desk.com/customer/en/ ... ge-option-)

Still, if you think twice, it has a good logic to not care if somebody breaks in and steals your whole system to cover their tracks. The recordings are safe

Anyhow, I have about 5-6 friends and colleagues owning Blinks and they're extremely satisfied with what it does and how it does it!

  8. Hey ya'll, I'm interested in adding some security cameras into my place talking to my Xpenology install on a Q1900, could anyone suggest some affordable options which are compatible and easy to deploy (I'm guessing they'd be poe?)

    See Synology's original website https://www.synology.com/en-global/compatibility/camera

Just be aware that the J1900 is not a powerful processor and it might not handle all the camera streams you want.

Thanks, yeah I'm not looking for anything too extreme, just wanna keep an eye on my apartment when not home, maybe a secondary one to watch package deliveries at most, I'll look over the list, if anyone has a first hand recommendation feel free to convey

They're so cool that I put them anywhere without pulling wires and the battery lasts for 1 year at least. I basically got them almost 1 year ago and they don't seem to be 1/4 depleted.

Just that they don't record all the time, but when they see movement, and only in 60 sec movies, followed by a min 5sec wait time, but as I said, enough for the average Joe.

Check them on Amazon too: https://www.amazon.com/blink-home-secur ... Arelevance

  10. Clean OP, add link to Pokanskiman's tutorial and add download mirror.

DMS 6.1 uses updated kernel (3.10.102).

The kernel sources for 6.0.2 (3.10.77) has not been released yet so don't hope anything from Syno before months.

Like before no sources = no loader

    jun's v1.01 loader CAN'T support DSM 6.1 so DO NOT UPGRADE !

I've rebased the vendor changes on 3.10.77 to 3.10.102, seems still works.

    THANKS Jun!

  11. I have a dream that one day even the Hyper-V option, a much hated and disregarded hypervisor, greatly improved over the years, will be made available to the DSM users around the world.

Did you try to convert the VMware image to Hyper-V and give it a try? I have had a ton of different VMware images ive converted and worked fine, always worth a shot in the name of SCIENCE!

Not working. The loader needs the Hyper-V integration drivers. Mostly for the network part.

  12. Hi, i'm trying to setup 10 Gb network with one xpenology DSM6.0 to my desktop pc, nase server has two nics, one gigabit for normal operation, and 10Gb card igbxe with sfp ports.

I setup a iscsi LUN connected to my desktop pc using only 10Gb card via different ip address then gigabit manage interface.

If i try to copy for example 8 gb iso file from my pc to Lun on nas, i get only 100 Mbyte transfer, and yes, i'v configured iscsi on windows to use only 10Gb card to connect to lun on nas.

Where i can look to try to fix?

Another question, there is some trick to use only dedicated 10 GB card for ISCSI instead normal gigabit?

    My rig

mainboard Asus Z97I-PLUS 4 gb ram, one disk wd 2gb WD green Intel x5220 dual SFP 10g card

    Many thanks

    Acivate Jumbo Frames?

  13. Q1900-ITX is one of the most used mainboards for xpenology. Even my main xpenology NAS is build on it so lots of folks could reply to this thread but the thing is nobody comes to the forum once they've setup their systems

I have no problems with Plex, but on the other hand, I'm using it just on one device at a time and not a chromecast
