Hi there, I have an older version of DSM (4.2) and I am worried with this Synolocker... I am also with doing an update... I do not want to loose my data and i have no external drives to back up all that. Is there a patch i could install on my dsm or some codes to add to my syno to make it secure against this Synolocker? HI there -- What "Apps" should I install to serve the XBMC? probably mysql, php and the xbmc package (if it exists)... but i would not recommend that. -- I have a TV which support Plex Media Server, what app should I install? I would recommend Plex as it is "click and use" on synology -- The current transfer speed over a 1G network is ~60MB/s. Are there any tweaks to make it go faster? Are your disks full? If they are empty you can expext the speed to decrease a lot later... Use the raid for security AND speed. Then digg into network card aggregation (if routeur compatible). But dont expect to be above 150 all time ehhehe -- How do I set up the SSD for Caching. (I am a tech savvy so a link is fine) No idea. -- Any other "must have" of "fun"apps. Calibre, VisualStation, DS File, Cloud -- Is there new user wiki or forum I should be searching? The official one : http://ukdl.synology.com/ftp/ds/usergui ... _Paper.pdf -- What is nanoboot and gnoBoot, do I need any of these. My system is up and running. I dont know if you already have data on your drives but if not, I would recommend running tests... speed of HD, link aggregation, WOL, Hibernation...

IF it is Nforce4 it will run with the ++ version (it has more drivers...). viewtopic.php?f=2&t=41

Hi there, I am following the wiki http://xpenology.com/wiki/en/building_xpenology to install DSM 4.2 on my ASUS A8N The kernel compiled OK but now i am having issues with the synobios! In fact the synobios in the wiki (for 4.1) is different than the synobios in 4.2 Here is the synobios from 4.2 DS3612xs 3211 (see attachement below) The wiki says to change line 000023E6 that says : .text:00000000000023E6 75 C4 jnz short loc_23AC however, in the new synobios the line is not stating that. (look below) The only line that looks the same is the line 2826 Look at the print screen below : In a nutshell I now need some help on this synobios as the wiki is not up to date and I dont want to create a mess!!! Thanks for yor help... My goal is to create a ++ version for the latest 4.2. Please take a bit of your time to help if you know.... synobios.zip

Salut Mister T, Le msg Booting the Kernel s affiche car tu boutes bien sur la clef et la clef est fonctionnel. Cela ne veut pas dire que ce qu il y a dans cette clef est bon. Tu n as peut etre pas les drivers de ta carte reseau dessus! Essaie avec la version ++. Ce ne st pas une version 4.2 mais 4.1. C est celle qui contient le plus de drivers... A+

SVP, comparer vos version de bios et votre settings de bios. Ces cartes mere ont elle un numero de revision? A comperer... Vos BIOS settings sont il les meme

Salut, Essaie la version ++ car avec la carte ASUS A8N-SLI Premium cela fonctionne. (avec la deluxe aussi du coup je pense... meme chipsets) C est simplement qu il manque les drivers dans la repack... A+

If it loads OK with the ++ version but the LAN card is not blinking on both parts (PC + HUB/Routeur) then it will never work... Are you sure the bios is on default settings? Did you update the bios to latest version? Did you check the cable? Change with another one? Did you check that the LAN card is working (try a live UBUNTU CD??) Did you do an offering or a sacrifice to computer god?
