  1. Hi there,

    I have a 2 synology boxes and 1 xpenology.
I am wondering if any of you has a package or knows a package to benchmark CPU.

The closes thing I have from that is in this post : https://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?t=93106

But it is not really a benchmark tool as it only test on one core...

The goal (especially for xpenology) would be to know which box is the best in transcoding videos.

Please do not tell me to go to cpubenchmark website as all soft we are using on xpenology are hacks, I would prefer directly testing the hacks. (example: I am using a xeon processor s771 into a mobo s775 with a hardware hack)

    Cheers

  2. If it says it will erase data, then it will erase data.

Not sure... As I recall on my former real Syno it used to only reset the "user specs" of the syno - which is not the volumes but only the syno config.

As someone tried? If not, how can I do that?

  3. Hello,

I have an issue with my DSM. Since the update 5 (coming from update3) I get an error "DSM cannot start up normally because it ran into a problem"

I dont know how to solve that (and I did some research), so i was thinking of doing a reset.

The official synology guides are useless because they mention to press a button on the back of the box. We dont have that

    I found this :

    Screen_Shot_2016_06_01_at_3_24_37_PM.png

But as you see, it seems that it also deletes the volumes? Is that correct? Or it only deletes the config file of the DSM?

I dont want to lose my volume and data... only I want to reset the config of the box.

    How do i do that?

    Please help

    Thanks

  4. Here is the solution :

It was not a real issue. I thought it was...

I used to have a shortcut to access my syno interface at : https://192.168.1.10:501/webman/index.cgi

But the latest updated mooved it to:

    http://192.168.1.10:5000/webman/index.cgi

I was using a "not up to date" version of Syno Asssistant and the connection was not working : the path was : http://192.168.1.10:500/?timestamp=1464771377

    Problem solved.

    Thanks

  5. Hi sbv300,

First, thanks for your reply

I do not recall when it happened, so i dont remember if it is just after the reboot, sorry...

The unit is seems by the SynoAssistant and its status is ready  When i try to connect to it, i get an empty page "This site can’t be reached"

I can ssh to the box, but from there i do not know what to do.

    Please advise

    Thanks

  6. Salut a tous,

J ai recement mis a jour mon DSM_5.2-5644 Update-3 vers Update 5.

    a><!-- m -->

Comment resoudre cela? Faire une mise a jour du XPEnoBoot?

Comment faire la mise a jour du XPEnoBoot sans perdre de données (dois je sauvegarder certains fichiers type adresse MAC???)

    Merci de votre aide

  7. Hello there,

I recently updated my DSM from DSM_5.2-5644 Update-3 to Update 5. Yesterday I rebooted and I had an error.

The way I did the update was using the PAT file from the synology manual update. It seemed to work. (I did not use the XPEnoBoot update boot menu)

    My XPEnoBoot is 5.2-5644.4.

Here is the error on the screen :

    IMG_20160530_121747.jpg

How can I solve this without lossing anything?

If i update the XPEnoBoot, what files should I migrate for me not to loose anything. (I am thinking of MAC adresse and all that...)

    Please could you advise

    Thanks

  8. Salut a tous,

  9. Hello,

I am now running a DSM v 5.1-5022 and I would like to know if I can easily update to the latest 5.2-5644.4?

Updating the previous versions was easy but I do not want to take risks if nobody tried that before me... i have a lot of data on my xpenology...

    Thanks for your help.

  10. Hi there,

I would like to create a team of people to create a modded version of DS download for Leechers.

Indeed, I am using some torrents that uses ratios. Ratios are a stupid way to impose sharing and not quality sharing...

However... Anybody interested in creating/compiling that for synos?

I did a transmission version modded for leechers a year ago. But i would like to update it...

    Any help?

  11. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

But i have to say that i installed this update on 3 "syno" 3612xs and it worked ok :

    1- Download synology_bromolow_3612xs.pat from here :

    http://ukdl.synology.com/ftp/criticalup ... ck/4493-7/

    Direct Link : http://ukdl.synology.com/ftp/criticalup ... 3612xs.pat

2-Go on manual updat on your syno and select the PAT file you just got in step 1.

3- DO NOT CLICK ON YES (see below). DO NOT FINISH THIS STEP.

    4493-3-2.png

4-Use putty or equivalent to SSH to the server and run this : (on the root folder)

    sed 's/flashupdateDeb/flashupdateDeb1/' /autoupd@te.info > /autoupd@te.info1

    mv /autoupd@te.info1 /autoupd@te.info

5-Only then click on the YES on the syno

    That should be OK now...

  12. I did a successful conversion from 4.2 tot nanoboot 5.0.

That took me about 20 minutes. The advantage of upgrading to 5.0 is that there are a lot of guides which are recent. Upgrade guides from 4.2 to 4.3 maybe outdated and are likely to take only a small amount of less time to update.

I would strongly recommend upgrading to DSM 5.0-4493 Update 4.

Which guide did you choose? Could you point at them? Thanks
