Hello, last weekend I tested the installation of DSM 6.1 loader: DS3615xs 6.1 Jun's Mod V1.02b with extra.lzma file from extra3615_v4.9_test pat file: DSM_DS3615xs_15047.pat connected only 1 drive to blue sata/sas scsi port. Result: installation fails with error ; installation failed, file may be damaged (13) Apparently similar issue. So I will stop trying to get this working. I will forget about the isci controller and add a different controller (4-6 port ahci or lsi sas for 8 ports) to de pcie adapter. Thanks for your all your help and patience!!! Kind regards. Ed

Yes, the usb is still the first in line, the sata /scu devices are all way down in the boot order list..

This weekend i have upgraded the bios version to the latest version of oct 2020. Just to make sure that it's not an old bios bug of somekind. After that I did several attempts to do the same as above suggested. 1) fresh install on 1 disk connected to the 6port sata ahci controller; it starts and runs fine. can find synology and disks to create volume etc. 2) additional install 2nd disk to 4port isci controller (blue sata/sas port) ; the system cannot be found anymore on previously configured IP address or via synology assistent. Also it keeps booting everytime I start a new seach in the assistent. The system is not reachable in this state, so cannot get to the dmesg log messages on the system of this boot attempt. It only boots and starts properly now when the BIOS optiom 'diable SCU devices' is set to 'enabled'.. Then the 2nd disk is not found, but also apparently things are not messed up anymore. Booted same config via Ubuntu with above BIOS settings; then apparently the scsi controller is NOT loaded (output of lspci) . Also the 2nd disk does not show in Ubuntu (but that is too be expected I guess). This loader is not loaded in Ubuntu 05:00.0 "Serial Attached SCSI controller" "Intel Corporation" "C602 chipset 4-Port SATA Storage Control Unit" -r06 "Lenovo" "C602 chipset 4-Port SATA Storage Control Unit" So apparently the scsi controller makes a difference in loading /configuring the dsm 6.2.3 properly... Not sure how to proceed from here...

Additional information: if I reconnect the sata cable from the blue satat/sas port to regular sata port, the synology boots and network card is properly working. Can access the synology then. Sounds like driver issue still.. Do not know how to proceed now. Any help is appreciated for this matter!

Hello all, Another small step forward. Did a full reinstall; wiped the disks and connected only 1 sata disk to the sata/sas port. Then fresh install. With the standard jun's loader v1.03 the sata disk is not found. If i replace the extra.lzma with the modified one, the sata disk ACTUALLY IS FOUND!! So I can start installing. Good news! However, after installation and rebooting: the synology is nowhere to be found on the network. The NIC is apparently not configured properly anymore? What might be wrong here? Outcome of the installation: UNSUCCESSFULL - DSM version uses installing: DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 2 - Loader version and model: JUN'S LOADER v1.03b - DS3615xs - Using custom extra.lzma: yes; added this one: extra3615v011test - Installation type: BAREMETAL Lenovo ThinkStation S30; Sandy Bridge-E ; NIC intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection; - Additional comments: synology assistent finds pc with the sas disks; can start installing DSM; after installing network connection is lost; cannot find synology anymore.

Hello All, Some additional info about things I checked last night. However still not able to see the 3 sata/sas disks in DSM 6.2. But getting closer! 1. SAS HDD enablement module (1-3 drives) is definately NOT present. See photo 1. According to the lenovo forum it's not needed for my purpose. As I want to use sata-disks and not sas-disks. And I believe that is what that module is meant for: <lenovo forum:> The blue ports on S30 can be a little confusing. Their function really depends on whether or not you have an HDD enablement module installed on the system. To see if your system has a module, check the front/right edge of the motherboard to the right of the memory DIMMs. If you see nothing installed (like in the pic above), you have no HDD enablement module, and the 3 blue SATA ports will ONLY support SATA devices. <lenovo forum> 2. The Intel Rapid Storage Technoloy Enterprise (RSTe) was in fact enabled. Hence the ability to use <ctrl><i> to enter this config. see photo2. Found out how to enable/disable this, via bios setting advanced, launch storage OpROM enable/disable. See photo 3. This was enabled and I disabled it for now. the ctrl-i option is gone now as well. The 3 seagate disks do not show anymore in scu 1/2/3 list which is apparently meant for the raid array. 3. How should I proceed? The seagate SATA disks on the 3 sata/sas ports still do not show in the DSM 6.2 disk list. Should I try the extra.lzma file and add it to the bootloader? I am not quite sure how to do that and how use that one yet.. Any pointers here? Thanks Ed.

Hi IG-88. Thank you for you quick response. I think the sas hdd module is enabled; because there is a boot option with <ctrl i> to enter and configure the raid config for the 3 sas/sata disks which are connected. I can see and configure the 3 sas/sata disks into a raid config, if i wanted too. Not sure about another way to verify this properly at the moment. Indeed, it's a basic setup op jun's installer; I did not use the extra.lzma yet. kind request to give me few pointers or url how to install this properly for sas/sata disks. will upload the dmesg output shortly after. thanks in advance. Hello all Here an enthousiast newbie who was able to get xpenology running on a spare lenovo S30 ThinkStation. I used Jun’s Loader v1.03b DS3615xs for DSM 6.2 basic setup. connected 4 WD 6TB drives to sata ports 1-4 and they were found inmediately. Was able to install DSM smoothly. Now I would like to add some new disks, and connect them to the sata/sas ports 5/6/7. However the DSM does not recognise them as new disks. Despite the fact that they are shown in the bios as scu port 1/2/3 with the proper disk names/sizes. Allready went through your very nice forum, but found no mathcing leads which solved this issue.. Kind of a loss here. Any help or advise would be appreciated Thanks a lot.
