  1. Thank you so much for your help Would a build with a Intel Celeron G5905 duel core 3.5ghz ASrock H470M Would this be better? Is there a notible difference between a duel and quad core chip if primarily used to back up data? Realised as I have had to move due to covid I would prefer to keep electricity costs down and this would be a alternative build I could do? To my understanding this would use the DS918+ dsm?
  2. Hey, thanks for responding just to clarify, I would be downloading the DS3617xs platform? What difference would nvme cache vs not make? Transcoding isnt a issue, as it would be purely used for storage to have a constant backup of a few PC's which have important work which cant be lost. Is it also possible to make it work with a realtek lan rather then intel?
  3. Hey all, Looking for some advice on how to proceed, I'm hoping to use XPEnology on my own hardware but not sure where to start and how to download/install. My hardware is as follows: Asus B450-m Prime AMD 1600x 16gb 3000 ram 2x4tb HHD cheap gpu I have looked through the foruums but got rather confused by the options and variations of downloads etc.. Thank you!
  4. Hey, I'm Kef and I'm a statistical analysist/data scientist. Looking at building a XPEnology nas to primarily use to back up data from my PC and laptop but not sure where to start. Completely new to NAS. Considered buying a synology but have majority of the parts available to build a second PC to use a NAS and not the funds to buy a synology. I'm interested in building pc's but have limited knowledge on using linux systems, coding outside statistical uses and languages, and anything more technical although I'm hoping to expand my knowledge. Would love some advice on whether my hardware is suitible and where to start and what loaders/DSM would be best to use in easy to understand noob format.
