  1. I have done this a thousand times and never had this issue. Parameters are set correctly. @NooL how did u solve the issue?
  2. Hello Everybody. Have been running my Xpenology since the very beginning somewhere in 2012 or so. Now I have updated my bootloaders etc to 1.03b and i have set Serial and mac1 and mac2 but for some reason dsm only takes the mac i set in mac1, so the second LAN does not have a Synology compliant MAC ID although i have set it in Grub Config. Anyone have any ideas?
  3. I am currently running Xpenology system 5.2 5565 update 2 and i recently noticed that in storage manager--HDD/SSD--Health info i cannot access the overview or the history panel. it says not available! i have an LSI controller in IT mode. is it just a badly installed system or some crazy configuration thing? i have the same running on another machine and it works fine...
  4. it was definitely a falling drive...still anyone got any idea as to why my system won't show health info on the hard drives tab in the storage manager? neither health info nor history works it just says service not available
  5. have you done any special settings? i cannot access the health info overview pane or the history pane on the HDD overview page in Storage manager which seems quite strange...further i cannot activate enable write cache...i checked, i have p19 firmware in the controller so this is not the problem...it might just be a falling drive
  6. i will dive into the subject of which firmware... but why can i not see the health status of disks in storage manager? is this normal with raid controllers in it mode? i don't get it...
  7. i am currently running dam 5.2 5565 update 2 on 2 systems for a while.very stable, very happy. however, on one system i get I/O errors on one specific HDD (WD RED WD30EFRX, pretty new) once in a while. On that system, i am running an LSI Card in IT mode. now while i was checking, i noticed that i cannot get any info in the HDD health info overview, it says not available.same thing for history. Smart reads me out some values. furthermore i just noticed i cannot enable write cache on the system. does this have something to do with the LSI Card. I further tested and tried to get info from an ssd which is connected to the sata ports on the mainboard, and that also don't work. on the changelog of xpenoboot it once mentioned this: Fixed LSI Controller issues (If you have a problem, please add parameter "rmmod=ata_piix" in Syslinux boot line) am i experiencing issues? i am pretty conservative about meeting around with configs as i am running an 8x3tb raid5 array with my data on it. before starting to fool around i wanted to check if anyone has made similar experiences..
  8. i know that it is not real..i want to change the info though for my geek factor1
  9. Hello there again, Just a trivial question. I am currently running xpenoboot latest version, everything working so far, and for the sake of my own madness i want to change the CPU type showing in Control Panel/Info Center from the i3 which is showing now to the i7 which is actually in the machine... How do i do this? is there a parameter to be added as for custom SN and mac in the Syslinux.cfg on the usb loader or something else?
  10. Hello everyone, Just upgraded to Xpenology 5.1 latest working version and i do not find the etc/synoinfo.conf /etc.defaults/synoinfo.conf files where the max disk number is saved. i pretty much need to do what stanza explained in http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2028 for 5.0 but the config files do not contain the parameters esataportcfg=”0x1000” usbportcfg="0xffe000" internalportcfg=”0xfff” because of that, only 4 of my 8 disks on the sas controller are recognised. in 5.0 i had everything working perfectly. i have an LSI-9211-8i IT Firmware card.
  11. hello, as of now, i am running dam 5.0 latest version with update 2. i have an lei controller which you worked with and it is recognised. i am trying to do the hex calculation and that is exactly where it starts to get a little bit confusing. in total i have 8 sata ports on the controller and 6 sata ports on the main board, plus one msata and one esata port. totalling 16 ports. the msata port is recognised and works perfectly fine. with usb, i am a little confused. there is a total of 14 usb ports on the mainbors, however it show a lot more here, i guess one controller is duplicated or so. how do i setup the hex calculation for the esata port? does it work at all or should i just leave it out and consider it internal? how about the usb ports? i think i can deactivate each single usb port in bios.

    Quick connect

Hello, I have two xpenology ystems up andrunnig. Both have customized serial numbers and mac addresses from my former original synology stations. Until recently, wick connect worked perfectly fine on both. As of now, it does not work anymore. Already did a clean reinstal on one of them to see ifi it wasnt any mod i did, but it wont even work anymore on aclean install. Anyone hve any ideas? Is itpossible that with the relese of 5.1 synology excluded the older systems from sing quick connect?
  13. i have an onboard realtek and then i have a second one in a pie port. i understand that smb performance is also bad so i will try to create a large file backup task and test again... JUST TESTED NOW IN SYNOLOGY BACKUP & REPLICATION APP I CREATED A DATA BACKUP TASK COPYING 170GB OF LARGE MKV FILES TO THE SYNOLOGY SYSTEM WITH THE ONBOARD INTEL NIC. Speed is still around 25mb/s i do not know if i am doing something wrong...but that speed is awful slow... what if i do shared folder sync? is that a different protocol? i will also test that but for now i cant imagine that it is the protocol. maybe someone wants to login to my system and check? i do not mind since i don not have any important data on the system yet...the who 2 sync setup is for a remote location syncing with the current one later next week so there is still time to get the whole thing up and running hassle free.. EDIT: tested shared folder sync also...same speed maybe even a tiny bit smaller...now this is weird.
  14. Thanks a lot ! Stanza is right you ned to odify both files otherwise it will reset after reboot I will work o the hex thing when the hba isinstaled in fact i have the very same card ordered in it mode...is it plug and play or is i a pain to make it work right?
  15. Heres th deal...i amgetn teriblenetwork speeds on my gbit network... In fact i am getting around 30mb/s transfers...heres my setup Asus rt n56u router---synology nas1 (with realtek 8111) ---- gbit switch tplink--- synology nas2 (with intel nic) Now, both synos have ssds and also raid 5 with > 6 disks which are wd red.. I hve tested file transfer speeds by monting one folder in the othe synology nas and then transfering an mkv file of mor thn 10gb...both folders were on ssds so disks should not be the bottleneck. I amgeting the felin that realtek 8111 is slowing this down but before i buy anothe nic i wanted to ask around wht i am doing wrong or if thee are tricks in lan setup etc...the realtek driver i chnged from r8169 to r8168
  16. is there a way to customise the max number of disks for your penology system? i want to make one show a max of 8 disks and the other a max of 13-14 disks as i have 13 in it in the near future
  17. hELLO EVERYONE, I have 2 Xpenology systems up running...one with an intel nic, and another one with a realtek 8111 nic which is the common enumerator in this whole story...i experienced the same problems with woo and network speeds! i defiately have NO hdd bottlenecks as both dams are running 6 disks in raid and also have ssds...did testing and i have 120mb/s on the intel nic over cable...thats about the maximum a gigabit connection can handle...whereas on the realtek i have 35-max45 but very wobbly, probably the average would be around 25...it definitely IS slow...also WOL aint working. i have inserted sinology mac ids on both systems in dam as i had 2 sync stations lying around which i am not using anymore...on intel wake on lan will work with the sinology mac adress! meaning if i enter the mac dress of the sinology i had it will turn on! on realtek it will not work, neither when setting its real mac nor when using anotherone. right now running lspci -v show it is loading the r8169 driver. i am guessing hoping that it is a driver issue that can be solved...i can in fact live without wol but not with those transfer speeds what did you do to fix wol? maybe this will fix the transfer speeds issue too... did you add this rmmod=r8169 insmod=r8168 to use the older driver?
  18. EDIT: hAD THE realtek nice replaced...now i have an intel pro 1000 pt dual port nic in the computer, running with e1000e drivers. still network transfers are averaging 27mb per second which is kind of horrible. anyone have any ideas? Hello, I have 2 Xpenology systems up running on DSM 5 4528 update 2 with nano boot 5.0.3.2 One system has an intel nic the other has one onboard realtek 8111e and a second one mounted. now my big problem is this: Wake On lan won't work on the realtek system, on intel nic it works like a breeze. second thing and that is the worst part is, that i have really bad network speeds on realtek system. when copying files, on intel i have up to 100Mb/s which is pretty much gigabit speed, on realtek i have around 30 max...both show a gigabit connection. i suppose this is a driver issue... running lspci -v gives me this: 04:00.0 Class 0200: Device 10ec:8168 (rev 06) Subsystem: Device 1849:8168 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 44 I/O ports at c000 Memory at f0004000 (64-bit, prefetchable) Memory at f0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 3 Capabilities: [50] MSI: Enable+ Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit+ Capabilities: [70] Express Endpoint, MSI 01 Capabilities: [b0] MSI-X: Enable- Count=4 Masked- Capabilities: [d0] Vital Product Data Capabilities: [100] Advanced Error Reporting Capabilities: [140] Virtual Channel Capabilities: [160] Device Serial Number 01-00-00-00-68-4c-e0-00 Kernel driver in use: r8169 01:00.0 Class 0200: Device 10ec:8168 (rev 06) Subsystem: Device 7470:3468 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 43 I/O ports at e000 Memory at f7d00000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) Memory at f0100000 (64-bit, prefetchable) Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 3 Capabilities: [50] MSI: Enable+ Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit+ Capabilities: [70] Express Endpoint, MSI 01 Capabilities: [b0] MSI-X: Enable- Count=4 Masked- Capabilities: [d0] Vital Product Data Capabilities: [100] Advanced Error Reporting Capabilities: [140] Virtual Channel Capabilities: [160] Device Serial Number d1-54-00-00-68-4c-e0-00 Kernel driver in use: r8169 What am i supposed to do? is there a wa to make nano boot run proper drivers? i am not that good at linux and understanding the whole nano boot thing as to get it by myself...but the speed really are horrible...
  19. Well i figured that out but theprblem is i cannot find any cards with more than 4 ports...is there a list of compatible controllers? Isnt there one mocel that stands out for price and compatibility? I cannot imagine thst users hre only stick with the few onboard sata options
  20. At the moment i do not really mind if its sata 300...i want a cheap controller card which will surely work with 6-8 sata ports.. What about dell perc cards?
  22. sO NOW I AM BUILDING MY SECOND Xpenology System because i like it so much. The new case has room for up to 16 drives and i am currently using a maximus v gene main board which maxes out at 6 data ports. how can i add the needed 6 additional ports? i have seen several raid controllers, of which the dell per is obviously the cheapest. isn't there another cheaper solution, since i do not need a real raid controller but rather a simple data extension? aren't there any cheap data controllers with 6-8 ports for pie available? what is the solution you people use for extending? furthermore, which raid controllers are known to just work with the dsm5?
