Hi All,
Following my thread about updating my Diskstation.
I was successful in updating the NAS to a more recent version DSM 5.2-5644 DS3615xs
The NAS last weekend auto updated to the most recent by itself and now the packages like Plex, Audio, Download Station do not work and refer to a database is unavailable.
I tried to rebuild the NAS by flashing the USB that held the Pat install but it refuses to downgrade to what I initially upgraded to.
Any help please !

Somewhere between the version you have and the current version, the devs changed the synology model for a more up to date one - DS3615xs. So the ones you are looking at are fine. When you upgrade, DSM thinks that you have taken the disks out of a DS3612xs and put them into the later unit and goes ahead with the changes.
I'm sure there is a step by step guide for bare metal somewhere here, but I had a quick look and couldn't find it. javakias' guide will work with some modifications.
"Converting the boot image" becomes : Create a bootable USB stick from the img file using something like win32diskimager.
"Configure your VM" becomes: Attach a screen and keyboard to your box and boot from the new USB stick.
Should I be able to follow this guide ?

create a USB flash with the latest XPEnoboot image. Remember to modify the syslinux.cfg if you have already modified it with the running version on you system.
Boot from it and select install/upgrade from the menu.
As soon as the boot finishes, use Synology Assistant or enter the web ui and choose to migrate settings.
Set the update file manually (the latest .PAT file can be downloaded from XPEnology).

1) Make sure you have the latest XPEnoboot on your USB boot loader
2) Download the latest Patch Level for your Xpenology box from xpenology.me/downloads
2) On the XPEnoboot boot selection screen, select the last option for "migrate/upgrade"
3) Go to control panel > update > manual DSM update > select file from step 1
3a) Some smaller patch level updates will update fine from a direct Synology download. If it fails, use the one from the downloads section of xpenology.me
That should be it. Many users try to do a direct upgrade without rebooting onto migrate/upgrade mode, which prevents the update from properly being applied. Once you have updated, the DS should automatically restart and you'll be good to go. On older patch levels, some system services needed to be re-activated/re-started such as media server, photo station, etc. I did not experience this with the most recent 2 patch levels.
I went to Xpenology.me but couldn't find the software for DS3612xs which is my version, can you advise whether I would find it ?

I build a xpenology NAS few years ago, My system setting say I have an update available, but when I go to download and install it on the NAS it get stuck at 25%
Any idea what I need to do ?

All,
I have my music and movies stored under specific libraries in plex folders and not the root Music and Videos folder.
As a result of this DLNA does not find my media.
Any way I can change the directory locations for the Music and the Videos Apps for Synology?

If you need $ to buy this, why don' t you just buy a tiny sandisk usb drive
Not sure if you understand my issue, I want to copy data (photos) from SD card to my synology nas.
By the was the Buffalo is only micro sd and not sd.

I am using micro SD card to USB reader
Actually some buffalo USB drive if your tear it down, it is a USB reader + Micro SD card
I might give it a shot as I tried an Orico one and it didnt work.

I have a bare metal build of xpenology but the chassis does not have any SD card readers.
I recently used a sd to usb reader which didn't work.
Has anyone tried external sd card readers with their NAS, and which one has worked?

Hi,
I tried to plug in a SD Card with a USB 3.0 interface, even though the USB was detected on the bare metal Synology NAS build the file system could not be displayed.
Anyone know a way I can get my SD cards to be read?

Control panel > Task Scheduler > Create > User defined script. Call it something like update script. User: root, and paste in this...
sed 's/flashupdateDeb/flashupdateDeb1/' /autoupd@te.info> /autoupd@te.info1
mv /autoupd@te.info1 /autoupd@te.info
Now go to updates and download the update. DO NOT update yet. Go back to task scheduler, select the script you just created and press run. Then back to the update and update.

I have a barebone install of Synology, the OS is picking up that there is a new update, but when I download and install the update it says the update is corrupt.

The traffic can be seen as p2p only with some badass firewalls and traffic analyzers when encrypted. Try to use it by default like this.
I am new to this care to elaborate what settings I need to change on my DSM.
