  1. Okay, so I took the EXTRA.LZMA from the link you sent and replaced the one in Jun's Loader v1.03b DS3617xs. Once again, i get no network at all. I'm certain that I'm doing this all wrong. I'll try unpacking the EXTRA.LZMA file and manually adding the driver. Other than than, I'm once again - stuck
  2. UPDATE: Manually trying to load the ARCMSR.KO module returns: root@xpen01:/usr/lib/modules# insmod arcmsr.ko insmod: ERROR: could not insert module arcmsr.ko: Invalid module format ...crap The serial console remained connected and i caught this: [ 441.091774] arcmsr: version magic '3.10.102 SMP mod_unload ' should be '3.10.105 SMP mod_unload ' [ 441.091774] arcmsr: version magic '3.10.102 SMP mod_unload ' should be '3.10.105 SMP mod_unload ' So, the module is not compatible with the kernel in the synoboot image? Unsure where to go from here.
  3. So, I am working with the image file: Jun's Loader v1.03b DS3617xs Synoboot_3617.zip | 19.5 MB | MD5 = 94d18efbc349da2bd45d6e57adabc54f I selected it because i saw in a table that it supports 24 drive, which i have. This bootloader brings the system online without issue - except that it wont see the ARECA card or its 24 drives. Then, using OSFMount, I mounted the BIN file and opened the 2nd partition, saw the EXTRA.LZMA file and replaced it with this one: extra.lzma for ds3617 v4.8 http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=82063388171933855891 This boots, but does not start the network. Connecting to the serial port console, I see only loopback when I type IFCONFIG: ifconfig lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:65536 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B) DiskStation> I have read that perhaps I should return to the unmodified SYNOBOOT.BIN image and them attempt to manually start the card. What follows is the boot sequence for the STANDARD - UNALTERED Synoboot_ds3617 image: I'll start messing with this one and try to unpack the contents of the extra.lzma you linked me to. 4. So, I did get the server up and running before i posted this. That's how I knew it wasn't seeing the 24 drives on the ARECA controller. The hardware I mentioned previously as being ASUS, but to be specific, this is built like so: Motherboard: ASUS DSBF-D RAM: 32GB CPU: Dual Xeons (6 cores each.) CONTROLLER: ARECA 1280 ML (ver C) There is also an SSD on the SATA port on the motherboard. It always sees that drive and is fine. The link you sent is to a forum and i have seen that area and read much of it. Do I just simply take the EXTRA.LZMA file and replace the one in the BIN image using OSFMOUNT? I ask because the last time I replaced an "extra.lzma" file, it just hung - i let it stay hung overnight too and still frozen in the morning. What is the process? Also, how can i see the boot process on the server console? This synboboot just makes a console screen that does nothing. I would like to have more use out of the console than that.
  5. I have spent 5 hours learning about the various ways that people install Xpenology and i have seen that ARECA Controllers are (or were) supported (or maybe drivers were provided in an extral.zma file?) Getting right to the point... I'm probably an idiot for not understanding this but HOW do I install a version of Xpenology that will support an ARECA 1200 series SATA card?! I need about a half-pound of Advil and a few shots of vodka at this point.
