Thanks @IG-88. It has been a year and I grow more XPE-server at home. I am now, own N36L / N40L and one X9SCL-Xeon E3-1220v2 | 32GB as my main server. I wonder, in terms of performance, how would you setup for the hardware & folder share ? As I tried various setup and I still couldn't find my path before I purchase / setup a new combo... 2 x SSD cache + 4 X 3TB - raid5 in LSI-9220-8i IT mode [ all shares inside this big-vol ] 4 x 1TB SSD in raid 0 + 1 x 120GB SSD for applications , moment databases... I did tried on a Ryzen 3600 ITX and put photo+moment storage in a NVME, and it is super fast, but too hot !! .. this combo always shutdown.. I did tried 2 x 3TB in raid0 + R/W 2x NVME 250GB as cache but in terms of performance, it is not faster than I put moments/photo folder inside a NVME. What is the best practise to setup these combo ? I mainly use 3 mobile apps: view moments by ipad / mobile backup photos / video from iphone DS files to search & check various folder structure ( I have about 4TB very important data ) Thanks !

HP Proliant MicroServer N36L | 8Gb | DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 2 | 2x3TB - RAID 0 | 1x3TB - JOB 2). i5-650| ASUS P7P55-D | 8GB | DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 2 | 6x3TB - RAID 5 + 2 x 250SSD cache It serve me quite happy and they are very cheap. Thank you Xpenology!! But I'm looking for a faster NAS for indexing 200K photos... still struggling what to buy next in my 3rd NAS. Welcome suggestions

Hello all, My first post here and I have been greatly benefit from this site and thank you very much. I have been using this server since 2016 and it runs like a charm; last week, my raid shown "degraded" / "bad sector" and I was swapping around the disks and finally it went into a "Danger" status. I pull out all HDDs and boot from another machine (using a live ubuntu desktop 20.04 as advise, using the link as reference 😞 https://www.synology.com/en-us/knowledgebase/DSM/tutorial/Storage/How_can_I_recover_data_from_my_DiskStation_using_a_PC Was able to performance step 1-9, but after the step 9: "mdadm -Asf && vgchange -ay" I was able to see my raid, but I couldn't find any vg group. Is there any reference, guidance, so that I can recuse my raid ? as it has 3TB valuable data I couldn't loss.!! Your help is greatly appreciated.. Regards, H
