  1. I don't think this board is even available in North America yet. While I think baremetal install would work, you may not get Turbo boost, which will limit the CPU freq to 1.5GHZ on this board.
  2. I would like to know if there is a way to enable burst ( turbo boost ) on my J3160 CPU as well.
  3. I was lucky, and bought a NSC-800 from eBay. I don't know where to get U-NAS case now, but if you search for " Will Jaya" on both Amazon and eBay, you'll see the 4 bay and 8 bay version of the U-NAS case. i'm quite sure they are identical. that's Jaya, with Y.
  4. I owned these two case before, and I highly recommend U-NAS NSC-800. It's quiet, well built, and much better ventilation. the fan system in the Silverstone DS380 doesn't pull much air, and hard drives becomes very hot with this case.
  5. how can you get the XPEnoboot 5.2-5592.2 to work with DSM 5.2-5644 Update 2 ? I have a bare metal set up, booting Xpenology from the USB drive. If I can just write another USB drive with XPEnoboot 5.2-5592.2 and just start the NAS, I may go with that route as I need my Virtual machines to work.
  6. We may have similar problem. however, my kern.log looks different. 7. This can be the solution. This person created a package to install SharePOrt. Though It only works with USB sound card, it does work pretty well. My $10 BurrBrown DAC sounds great when streaming from my Macbook. http://home.losty.ch/webfilebrowser/sha ... y=d97c1ef3 I wonder why this package isn't on the https://synocommunity.com/ .
  8. I still rather use the onboard Sound card for AirPlay or something. I don't want to get another device and keep it on. I found this on the net. http://www.losty.ch/2014/01/synology-na ... eiver.html that person use Optware to install SharePort. I haven't try though.
  9. Does bare metal install on Q1900 support Turbo Boost , or Burst frequency?
  10. really? it can't turbo boost? so it's missing the kernel module? What about the J1900 , can it turbo boost? i'm just looking to buy a N3700 today, until I see this.
  11. oh, no. I was just needing to reinstall the OS. where can I get a working .pat file now? never mind, i found it: https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B8WTs1D6 ... t=download ( from xpenology.me )
  12. I would like to know too. This would stop logs being written to my drive.
  13. I wish they would inplment SnapRAID. I like the idea to do RAID5, but it's pointless to keep all the hard drives spinning. SnapRAID is great. each hard drive spin up as needed, and all are spinning during back up.
  14. SInce the root volume (/) is in RAID1 configuration, this kind of stuff is replicated across all your hard drive, which lead to a write of this log every minute, and prevent the system to be "idle" . This is affecting me as well. Does anyone know how to disable SmartDataRead and disk_temperature_get.c ?
  15. I have the same logs too. THis gets written to the kern.log every minute. any one know how to disable this? I am running xepnology 5.2 5592 Update4, under virtualbox.

    no ACL support

I would get this in my /var/log/messages: Apr 11 10:39:03 HOSTNAME entry.cgi_SYNO.Core.Share.Permission[1].list[16201]: permission.cpp:834 failed to get share Downloads acl

    no ACL support

THis is my set up: OpenMediaVault ( based on Debian linux ) host, Xpenology as Virtual Machine (Vbox). Volume1 is a virtual drive on SSD; Mass storage is exported through NFS. NFS is mounted on Xpenology ( e.g. /volume1/Downloads, /volume1/Music ). While I can read and write the NFS through Xpenology, but I there is no ACL support; All users can read and write these shares at will. Does any one have an idea how to fix this? Host's export: /export/Music 1.1.1.10(rw,subtree_check,secure) /export/Downloads 1.1.1.10(rw,async,subtree_check,secure,no_root_squash) Xpenology NFS mount: mount -t nfs 1.1.1.20:/export/Downloads /volume1/Downloads mount -t nfs 1.1.1.20:/export/Music /volume1/Music Message on DSM5.1 The volume where the share is located does not support ACL. Please refer to Help for more Information.
  18. I have OpenMediaVault set up as Host, then Xpenology as a virtual machine. Storage is NFS exported from OpenMediaVault. For the most part, it's fast and working, but just ACL from Xpenology.
  19. I have a similar concern. I have 6 disks in my Xpenology, and I want to convert them to JBOD. I currently have RAID5, but that keeps all drives spinning at all time, and every time I access a small file, all 6 disks are being accessed. I was thinking to go to JBOD, so ideally, if the file I access is only on drive 1, only drive 1 will spin up and being used. So, Dfds's respond, i would run into similar limitation as well?
  20. for me from logs you posted before it looked like problem with access rights then i asked about reinstall virtualbox. about icon, strange, icon could be in menu as usual Login with an admin user, and grant this user the right to VirtualBox ( Control-Panel -> Privilege )
  21. So I see a mixed report here. Some people with the RR662 works. Some say there is lockup issue. It's almost December now. Can anyone provide a long term usage status of enabling mutiplier eSATA?
  22. NO, i haven't upgrade to the latest DSM5.0 yet. still on Update7.
