  1. What source do you have proving this? I believe its still an Intel Xeon D-1531
  2. I sucessfully got a DVA3221 loader working, tested a few cameras all is good even with no presence of a nvidia card installed. I setup plex, i do have plexpass, but when i force a video in transcoding, im not getting hw and cpu usage is through the roof of course. Does this model not support it?
  3. Does DVA3221 loader play nice with plex for hardware transcoding? Also I don’t have a dedicated GPU, just whatever is in a i5-8400. I’m just interested in the fact SS will allow 8 cameras.
  4. Ok, well pretty sure the link provided will have the latest versions available for both dsm 6.x and dsm 7.x at this time. In regards of "for those who know" if you do know how to get latest SS working please dont hesitate to DM me.
  5. Whats so special about 8.2.9? When i look in package centre, only 8.2.8 shows up as an update. I'm still using 8.2.7 for obvious reasons for those who know. looks like 8.2.10-6468 is the latest regardless. You could manually download\install. https://archive.synology.com/download/Package/SurveillanceStation?_ga=2.155313851.1281411959.1640229320-1038010399.1584047835
  6. This was one of the main reasons i dumped DS, because there was no way to flow DS traffic solely to the VPN. One solution could be install a virtual instance of DSM to just have DS be behind a VPN or Docker! There are great torrent containers available that you can use your VPN with and not boggle down the rest of the services that depend on internet in DSM.
  7. I think by default 918 only supports 2 nics natively, using 3615\17 would open up the possibility of up to 4 nics. Maybe custom configs could be added in the grub but thats above my knowledge.
  8. ssh into your dsm, once logged in paste this scrip; sudo mv /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt.bak && sudo curl -Lko /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt https://curl.se/ca/cacert.pem your synocommunity packages will work again.
  9. Is there any sort of framework in place for a pre compiled loader to test with?
  10. What?!?! Are you trying to say the DS3617xs has quicksync? or your just listing desired features that apply to one or the other?
  11. Do rackstations even support intel quicksync for hw transcoding?
  12. Hi everyone, Ive been trying to figure out an ongoing issue in regards to i\o transfer rates or even local downloading via newsgroups on my xpeno rig. I just want to point out that I'm running 8th gen i5, 32GB DDR4 ram and 8x12TB exos x16 in shr2, baremetal, 6.2.3u3. I cant see it being hardware bottleneck but who knows. I've done some compares with using sabnzbd on xpenology and my desktop machine, both using same servers, same amount of connections, same nzb file. On the xpeno i get a very steady 75-78MB\s but on my desktop machine i get a steady 105-106MB\s. The same sort of 75-80MB\s speed i get when just moving files to and from xpeno to desktop machine and vice versa. I've done the benchmarks tests that I've found in one of the topics here and I seem to blow the numbers way past what I'm getting in reality here. Any advice?
  13. I bought 8 12TB exos drives for $260CAD a piece in beginning of march, i recall they went down to $250 which I thought to myself if i should get couple more. Then everything ran dry. I saw some stock pop up couple weeks ago going for $285, all gone again. I'm not in desperation for more storage yet but its nearly impossible to get my hands on more if i wanted too or if i venture out to different outlets for the same drive its easily 40% more expensive.
  14. What do you required HW transcoding for? Plex? If so, you need to update extra\extra2 files if your running 6.2.3 I also use a b365 board from gigabyte and works quite nice as well.
  15. update to 6.2.4 likely wont happen but i could be wrong. I would expect more effort is being or will be put into 7.0
  20. My volume was at 99% full, had like 450GB remaining. I inserted all 6x12TB drives from original built plus 2 additional 12TB in my permanent server, started the expansion with both drives selected, took 56h to complete. There was no need to offload any data.
  21. Not sure if a speed test proves my nic\network is working fine??
  22. I tried looking around if perhaps someone had an issue like me, and seems like the suggestion made to that user was probably not valid as it was about changing MTU settings. So here's my issue, when I download anything really from my xpeno server, I fully saturate my connection (1Gbps), but on the upload side of things I only seem to hit 500Mbps ish. I did some benchmarking of my cpu\drives admin@DiskStation:/$ dd if=/dev/zero bs=1M count=1024 | md5sum 1024+0 records in 1024+0 records out 1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 1.50616 s, 713 MB/s cd573cfaace07e7949bc0c46028904ff - admin@DiskStation:/$ dd if=/dev/zero bs=1M count=2048 | md5sum 2048+0 records in 2048+0 records out 2147483648 bytes (2.1 GB) copied, 3.13831 s, 684 MB/s a981130cf2b7e09f4686dc273cf7187e - admin@DiskStation:/$ sudo dd bs=1M count=256 if=/dev/zero of=/volume1/Downloads/testx conv=fdatasync 256+0 records in 256+0 records out 268435456 bytes (268 MB) copied, 0.632158 s, 425 MB/s admin@DiskStation:/$ sudo dd bs=1M count=1024 if=/dev/zero of=/volume1/Downloads/testx conv=fdatasync 1024+0 records in 1024+0 records out 1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 2.19087 s, 490 MB/s admin@DiskStation:/$ sudo dd bs=1M count=2048 if=/dev/zero of=/volume1/Downloads/testx conv=fdatasync 2048+0 records in 2048+0 records out 2147483648 bytes (2.1 GB) copied, 3.4811 s, 617 MB/s admin@DiskStation:/$ sudo dd bs=1M count=4096 if=/dev/zero of=/volume1/Downloads/testx conv=fdatasync 4096+0 records in 4096+0 records out 4294967296 bytes (4.3 GB) copied, 6.06675 s, 708 MB/s Everything looks good as far as I can gather here. I have 8x 12TB Exos x16 in SHR2, 6 plugged via mobo (all sata3), and 2 via a JMB585 card. I tried with a different computer, being my laptop but i dont have a native network port on it and i did try a usb-c adapter and the upload number were so awful I cant use it as a reference.
  23. I assembled a shr-2 with 6x 12TB drives to start as the temp mobo only had 6 satas. Transferred all my data which left me with about the 500GB space free, hence the earlier questions. Now I've moved my drives to the permanent server with the addition of 2 more 12TB drives. Shockingly, when i initiated the expand, it prompt the 2 additional drives, and final calculation of array size was 65.46TB up from 43.64TB. I thought expansions only happened 1 drive at a time, bonus if it does this all in one shot though. When i look at resource monitor, under disk, i can see disk 1-6 are reading and writing at a decent speed, and disk 7-8 are only writing. This leads me to believe both drives will be added. When i looked up mdstat, it was going at over 60000kbps in the begining, its down to around 50000~55000kbps as I'm letting people stream away from my plex and sonarr\radarr still rolling and downloading as need be. Its been 33 hours and its at 51.5% done.
  24. Whats the fastest kbps speed you've seen xpenology expand a volume at?
