it is the default i440Fx, does it matter? Watched 3-4 guides on youtube, all of them used i440fx and only Home assistant used q35
-
it is set to "host" from the start, but it is SeaBios (every guide set that SeaBios) can this be a problem? (now I test 2 cores for Synology and 2 cores for HomeAssistant)

I bought an Intel N6005 board from TopTon on aliexpress, and installed Proxmox 8.0.3. I have 2 VMs Synology and Home Assistant, both got 4 cores to maximise performance (4 core total). I have 16gb ram, 8gb for Synology and 4gb for Home Assistant without ballooning, 4gb for proxmox. Randomly I get this error message: Synology was shut down improperly and softreboot itself, Proxmox shows no errors. Reinstalled Proxmox completely and tried to leave everything on default and even tried other Synology loaders and switched from 923+ to 920+ with the same error. DSM shows nothing useful in error logs and same goes for Proxmox. Read this topic that someone had similar problem with Intel N5005 but that was for Proxmox 7 (kernel 5.x) but Proxmox 8 has kernel 6.2 already, so I can't really update it. The VM does not freeze but the DSM inside shuts down. The CPU is around 55-60°C and 20-40% load because of Frigate in Home assistant, I also use Coral AI TPU in my NVME slot.

Bought this N6005 board from aliexpress and still thinking about what OS should I use for it. My friend has a NUC and said he had problems with Linuxes older than 6.1 kernel. After some research found out that DSM 7.2 has Kernel v4.4. Anyone has this board, does it work well with DSM 7.2? If yes which Synology device do you use for it?

UP! same problem here.

SN/MAC - Does it affect the original owner?
BullFrog replied to BullFrog's question in Answered Questions
Good idea, now it is working with the new MAC address but I save this method for later use! (or should I change the SN too?) Btw when you tested, did the original Synology drive get back on track and worked after a while (DSM login), or you had to reinstall it to use normally again? -

Thank you guys, I have changed the MAC but the SN stayed the original. Restarted router too just in case. -
SN/MAC - Does it affect the original owner?
BullFrog replied to BullFrog's question in Answered Questions
Alright, it is 2 days late, but how can I change SN or MAC the easiest way? I don't want him any trouble. Does simply editing existing grub file on the boot pendrive enough? edit. Turned it off and pendrive is in my computer but can't mount the grub file... Can I make a new pendrive and reinstall the system without loosing all the stuff I setup in the last 2 days? (docker etc) edit2 - google is my friend, right? I will try this: "chaning the mac adress from the grub menu worked perfectly. --> by pressing C in grub menu, enter "mac1 your_mac" in command line, then ESC and boot." CAN the SN stay the original? MAC will be the hardware MAC of the device -

BullFrog replied to Olegin's topic in Tutorials and Guides
2. Transcoding (needs sn and mac from real syno hardware) I'm using my friends SN and MAC address, but after a fresh install cd /dev/dri shows nothing. -sh: cd: /dev/dri: No such file or directory cat: /usr/syno/etc/codec/activation.conf: No such file or directory What did I miss? 1.04b bootloader, DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 3 Asrock J4105- 264 replies

My friend gave me his SN and MAC address for his DS918+, but does it affect him if I start using it? I don't use quick connect (I use dyndns), I need it for hardware transcoding, but I don't want to hurt his system.

Asrock J4105 - What is the current working DSM?
BullFrog replied to BullFrog's question in Answered Questions
I tried that at first for installation but couldn't see the device in find.synology.com. Deleted extra2 and replaced extra.lzma, but didnt work, When i used the original files it booted up to install, but lost it after a few restart. I will give it a try again and leave extra2 and just overwrite lzma.extra -
Newbie here. I tried to install 1.04b and 6.2.2-24922, but after it reboots network goes offline, or just stuck and wont load the web interface I guess. What is the current DSM version that is working without issues? I've seen confirmed update with this motherboard and I just don't get it, someone can't reboot because network lost, and somone is using it without issues...how?
