  1. Thank you for writing this, I'm just as lost here on the update procedures. Would be very thankfull if someone could write a small tutoral for dummies for TCRP.
  2. Coud you eleborate a bit more on this or on how to use tcrp with friends? In above I should reboot system enter tinycore desktop enter that line and thats it?? then boot into the synology and try to update via update and restore???
  3. Hi, maybe not the right place to ask, but I have been running TCRP DS918+ for quite some months now without ever doing an update. I also have a real DS918+ that currently updated to DMS 7.1.1-42962 Update 6. My xpenology machine shows to be up-to-date with DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 1. I'm wondering why it's not suggesting me to update. It used to suggest me updates when was running Juns loader. Can I manually do the update or do I also have to do some steps with the TCRP loader? cheers.
  4. +1 for the patch for the DMS 7.1.1-42962- update 1 (DSM918+) I used wangsiji python script to get AME (advanced media pack) installed (link below). It's now showing the codec for HEVC but not for ACC. In surveillance station my cameras started to work with H265. In video station however I cannot run movies with H265. So the patch in this topic would also unluck the codec for Video station???
  5. After running the python script I managed to get the same status as above.... somehow I dont have the option to update to Version 1.0.0-50001. I tried setting surveillance camera to H265 or play a HEVC movie in DS video, but without succes! What could be wrong? I'm running dsm 7.1.1-42962 - Update 1 (DS918+)
  6. being a total python rooky here:😐 Could anyone explain how to run a python script? Do I need to copy wangiji code into wordpad and save as *.py and then save it on the synology? Than go into ssh and try to run it? Tutorials I find on running python scripts all are about task scheduling it. Is that needed?
  7. If one of the NICs wasn't support was there no option to use the other (intel I219-V/Intel I210-AT)? Confused so we can also try a MB by trial and error even if other people have the exact same MB working...
  8. I'm also looking at what CPU to use for my built. Just a bit unsure about the intel T-series. (perhaps one day I want to use the CPU for another system). Guy in youtube video below tested both T and normal processor and found almost no differences. And yes he using a desktop environment but my system would be idle most of the time and there is almost no difference at idle either. "If you decide not to watch the video in it's entirety, the short answer is I saved 1 watt at most. Unless there is something I am missing in configuration, using a T-branded Intel CPU in a standard desktop environment gave no saving in power consumption either at idle or under load."
  9. Makes sense.. I guess I better built something because I have a good powersupplies and ATX case laying around. Size doesn't really matter because its will go in power cabinet so I was thinking about an ATX board. Think for about 225euro can built something more powerful than the ds918+ ASRock H370 Pro4 +/- 90euro (6 SATA3, 2 Ultra M.2) Used Intel I5 7400T +/- 100euro 8GB Corsair DDR4 +/- 35euro
  10. Hi guys, I'm quite new to Xpenology and in the passed days have set up XPenology (bare metal) on my Dell precision M4600 laptop. Its running really nicely and stable on the latest DSM 6.2.2-24922 for the passed few days now. For years I have two DS213 synologys and am really blown away with the performance improvement on the old dell laptop (core I7, 16gb). For example I moved gigs of photos in DS photo folder and it rendered those tumbnails in no time (on the DS213 that would takes months). I consider getting a 4 bay DS918+ but I basically am sceptic because of sluggishness of my old synologies (if only they'd offer better CPUs). Right now looking to extend my test setup (only 2,5inch internal HDD of laptop) with more drives. I understood from reading on this forum that eSATA connector on the back of my Dell doesn't have a portmultiplier so if buy something like a icydoc 4bay HDD enclosure and hook up via eSATA I reckon I am only able to see one drive. I ordered some cheap old eSATA Expresscard which according to its specs should supports portmultiplier (no idea which chipset). My goals is to get the eSATA of the Express card working with a 4-5bay enclosure (single eSATA cable) and to have DSM's raid functions available. Do you guys have any idea if this could work? Is my scepsis on the Intel Celeron J3455 used in the DS918+ justified or will it just run as smooth as my old I7 laptop? greets
