  1. Hello TC community! Quick shout out to all the Devs. that made this possible. I've been an early tester since TG began work on the next loader, and @pocopico @Peter Suh @haydibe and so many others I have not mentioned here, have continued the ongoing effort and development of xpenology. I am so grateful for all the hard work and time each of you have put forth. I have always been running my xpenology machines baremetal, until recently I decided to move my entire home lab to proxmox - what an undertaking that was, but well worth the effort! Having the ability to do vzdumps, snapshots, and backups makes recovery and testing so much easier! I just completed doing a build for DS3622xs+(7.1.0-42661) I have two pcie sata cards- configured to passthrough to the DS3622, one with 8 ports with 6 spinning drives drives attached- the other card with 6ports, and all six attached to SSD drives, (The disks were from my baremetal DS3617xs) The upgrade went smooth. I have 6 onboard sata connections, but only one drive is connected here and is only used as the main drive for this proxmox host. I did notice in storage manager the drive order was out of sequence. I recall on my previous 3617 baremetal build, I had to put this "sata_remap": "7\\>6:8\\>7:9\\>8:11\\>9:12\\>10:13\\>11" in my user.config and it mapped correctly, however I tried this with the current (proxmox)virtual build for the 3622, and it appears to not have any effect on the drive sequence. Is there another way to do this with the 3622? The other thing I noticed is two of the six ssd drives indicate "warning" in orange under drive status - health though is green - I am thinking of replacing my ssd drives soon - is this warning due to an actual issue or age with the drive or something else? Thank you all! here is my user.config: * Serial and mac omitted { "extra_cmdline": { "pid": "0x0001", "vid": "0x46f4", "sn": "XXXXXXXXXX", "mac1": "XXXXXXXXXXX", "SataPortMap": "1446", "DiskIdxMap": "10000408" }, "synoinfo": { "internalportcfg": "0xffff", "maxdisks": "16", "support_bde_internal_10g": "no", "support_disk_compatibility": "no", "support_memory_compatibility": "no" }, "ramdisk_copy": {} }
  2. Hello @pocopico huge thanks for the great effort in putting together tinycore loader process - I have successfully configured a 3617 on baremetal using tinycore - I've installed the following Raid card Broadcom / LSI MegaRAID SAS 2108 and able to see it with lspci -nnq in the terminal while dsm 7.0.1 is running, however none of the (6) drives connected to the card show up in storage manager ( I have 4 other drives connected to onboard sata and those work fine) - i've added the megaraid_sas driver in tinycore and built the loader but no luck - should I be using a different driver or is this card not supported? any help would be appreciated! Ren
  3. @ngsupbit worked! I pulled the drives, formatted to ext in linux, popped them back in. Blocked the test machine at the router level so it can't go out the network and do its update - install proceeded and reboot came back with "services starting" in syno assistant - awesome! for reference this is for 3617xs using tinycore on i7 10700 with asus z490 strix mobo
  4. Hi Synoxpe, I am using newer hardware mainly the cpu is 10thgen i7 - my understanding is 3617 can fully utilize all the cores with hyperthreading - is this the case for DS918+ as well? Also, i'm using 10 drives 6 spinning and 4 ssd's - the 918 has 4 drive limit - can this be increased through configuration file? appreciate the suggestion! Ren
  5. Thanks @ngsupbI thought I remembered formatting the drives - I will try again, thanks! Ren
  6. @gorski I've spent the last day or so trying to get a baremetal (even tried a vm in proxmox) install for 3617xs using tinycore. It comes up in syno assistant, you can push the pat file, and it appears to complete the install and reboot, however when it comes back up, you go through the same install loop ( syno assistant indicates status as not installed) another member here advised it might be updating during the initial install, to latest version of 7.0.1 which appears to break the install. I tried blocking the machine from going out to the network, at the router level a few times, and then by disconnecting the ethernet cable, just after it begins the pat file install, but no joy - still getting the install loop. I'd be more than happy to try anything else to get a 3617 working - open to any suggestions! Ren
  7. Hi all, trying to build a broadwell-7.0.1-42218 image for 3617 - I have an LSI SAS2308 Fusion MPT SAS-2 controller installed and getting "no drives detected" in syno web assistant. I am testing installation of the sas drivers but not sure if I am missing a step: sudo ./rploader.sh ext broadwell-7.0.1-42218 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/megaraid_sas/rpext-index.json after this I am building with sudo ./rploader.sh build broadwell-7.0.1-42218 it seems to build successfully, no errors in log Is there any other command I need to run to make sure the loader is built with the sas driver? When I run satamap I am getting HBA: 00:17.0 Disks : 6 SataPortMap=6 DiskIdxMap=00 the board has 6 sata ports but I am currently just testing the LSI card appreciate any help or suggestions in advance! Ren
  8. Hi All! been following along here since redpill has become available for testing. I've recently been testing tinycore (awesome tool, huge thanks to @pocopico and all the rest of the devs that have been contributing) I am testing on baremetal for DS3617xs - was able to boot into tinycore - ran the update command to get latest sources. Then ran the serial gen, identifyusb, commands, and satamap and finally sudo ./rploader.sh build broadwell-7.0.1-42218. Everything appears to complete successfully - I copied the .pat file to local machine and proceeded to boot redpill. I am able to upload the pat file completes at 100% - on reboot syno assistant shows not installed and repeats the process of asking for the pat file. I did get the warning that 4 hard drives would be formatted the first time- this is a test system so I proceeded - but this process just loops of installing the pat, reboot and repeat. I did see the following in the output when creating the image - also included output for lspci and lsscsi - appreciate any help or suggestions! 9. Hello all, so glad to see the continued work here! - longtime xpenology user on Jun's loader - Wanted to provide some feedback on some recent testing I've done. My setup has always consisted of 2 baremetal configurations. I have a qnap TS-251+ running 6.2.3-25426 Update 3 ( 3615xs on 1.03b) - and a custom build on a Z490 motherboard with i7-10700 (DS3617xs - 6.2.3-25426 Update 3 ) I am highly considering doing a proxmox or esxi setup and running this in a virtual environment in the future, but for the time being, wanted to see how things run in a baremetal setup. I removed current drives on the TS-251+ and replaced with some test ones - Using @haydibedocker tool, I created the redpill img and was able to successfully boot and install 3615xs-DSM 7.0-41222 - I've left this unit running for the last 2 days and it appears to be quite solid - no crashes or any visible issues thus far. I've been able to install docker, and virtual machine manager - containers and vm's run well and as expected. I did the same thing for the custom build on the Z490 board (with the exception of installing the LSI storage controller and using my "production" drives) installation worked without issue and the same apps work as well. Really want to give a huge thanks to all the devs that have, and continue to make this possible @ThorGroup@haydibe @gadreel and any others I've missed!
  10. @Cheesefoam "I've found that if one adds the "noxsave" boot option (for example, when at the first boot menu for Ubuntu, under advanced options), everything will work fine afterwards." This totally worked!!!!! I'm running a 3617s on current gen LGA 1200 motherboard with an i7 10700 with 1.03b loader - all cores are recognized and everything worked flawless save for only being able to get linux vm's to run with cpu compatibility mode enabled which emulates a core2duo processor. Your configuration allows it to run without compatibility mode. Thank you so much for this! cheers, Ren
  11. @FOXBI new patch works great - appreciate all of your work here 시간 내주셔서 대단히 감사합니다 Ren
  12. @FOXBI Thank you so much for such a great fix to get cpuinfo to display correctly - I too have upgraded my DS3615xs unit to latest DSM version 6.2.2-24922 and the script does not appear to work - Hoping you can work your magic and help us all out soon, thanks in advance! Ren
