  1. I followed everything to the letter but still had the problems and I also tried an install from fresh but I still ended up in the same situation. I think I will try again but life has taken over at the moment so it won't be for a couple weeks.
  2. If I am honest I have made no progress getting usb working, to the point where I think I may have to accept that is the way it is.
  3. Thanks @Polanskiman I have got a bit confused by the look of it. I read your referance to the extra module for usb 1.1 in 1.02 and didn't realise the was a different subject
  4. I have tried using Jun's v1.02 for the last two evenings with 3 different USB drives and I keep getting ”Failed to install the file. The file is probably corrupted. (13)" So I follow your advice and I am 200% positive " it means your VID and/or PID is wrong. If you are 200% sure that your VID/PID is correct and you still get that error message then try to 'Force Install'." But there is no Force install option. I have also downloaded the .pat file about 3 times just in case that was the problem. Now I am out of ideas unless I can I edit the grub menu to present a menu to force option?
  5. Thanks Polanskiman I tried the update using Jun's 1.01 loader with no success 1.02b has no AMD support from what I have read, however I did manage to use this before my crash. In the end I found this loader https://mega.nz/#!PRIECYqJ!24VjNAOTozWoLlKyKrSngn1ArYT-VPd-1tvlizTDFDU it was created by Jun but then repackaged by Arcao with some extra drivers and that has worked for me. I am now running DSM 6.0.2-8451, I managed to save all my data too, which I am really pleased about. I might try the standard ramdisk and see what happens The last issue is getting my UPS to work. its a PowerWalker vi 650va if anyone has any suggestions.

  7. I have a HP NL40 running DSM 5.0-4493 I am able to upgrade to DSM 5.2 and all goes well. However I have followed your tutorial 3 times now and I can't get jun v1.01 boot loader to work, when I select the 4th option for AMD, then I am just not able to see my NL40 via synology assistant. Do you have any suggestions?
  8. Update it was an AMD processor even though it was reporting to be an Intel i3 in the system info. After messing around last night I got to a point where the system was always in a recover state on every reboot. I did however still have a USB with a nanoboot version of DSM 5 so I have done a clean install and at present I am on DSM 4.4493 Am I right in thinking that I can get back to DSM 6.01 and be stable? can anyone offer any suggestions before I make my next move.
  9. Thanks I will try this tonight @sbv3000 I tried on a different PC and it was ok so must be microserver issue like @nemesis122 has described

  11. I will try that tonight when I get home, and report back here, thanks
  12. Thanks for the reply I have already checked this and it is defaulting to the install menu (1st option)
  13. thanks for the reply, I am quite new to this, is the grub menu the menu I can edit on boot by pressing E? If so this is it. if so this is the menu Set img = savedefault loadlinux 3615 usb loadinitrd showtips
  14. I am running DS3615xs DSM 6.1.3-15152,using Jun's Mod v1.02b everything was working perfectly and I had a power outage (and no ups) on reboot once power was restored my HP Microserver would not boot back in to synology. However if I use the reinstall, it see the diskstation in a migratable state and everything comes back and is fine, until I reboot then I have to use the reinstall method again. Am I doing something wrong?
  15. I hope someone can help me. I installed DS3612xs_3202 on a HP Micro server quite a while ago and it has been working flawlessly. I decided to change my room around and powered it down (with usb removed) and on reboot in Synology assistant I get the status "Not Installed". Now I have quite a large amount of photos and Movies on the drives. What do I do next?
