  1. thanks, found that toolbox after I posted this Had already used the other tool I linked to get what I needed but the Nirsoft tool looks nicer
  2. Depends how far through trhe upgrade you went, if you've done the migration steps, i.e. applied the DSM 6.2 .pat & it has done the upgrade, then I think you'll need to follow the steps as per the OP. If it just fails to show up in Syno Assistance or something like that then yes power off, swap USB Yes should just boot & then be visible in Synology Assistant with a status of Migratable, you can then apply the pat file for the upgrade.
  3. I have now upgraded to loader 1.3b & DSM 6.2.1 using my Intel 10Gbe NIC that I had lying around. It let me upgrade fine, same process as with previous upgrades of doing the migration. Let me log in to DSM fine too, but then started seeing similar issues to others above - package centre showed no packages were running, some would start manually, others refused to start, audio station tried to update & failed resulting in it being uninstalled. Things like Plex were running ok. But few mins later packages started stopping & showed as none running at all. Thankfully I've been lucky & only had to SSH on & delete the old .xpenoboot file & reboot. All now appears well after just doing this 1 thing.
  4. Just remembered I had this problem before. This tool http://www.antspec.com/usbflashinfo/ grabs assorted info on a stick & states the VID & PID match the ones from my parent drop down above.
  5. Trying to setup a new stick to move from loader 1.02 to 1.03 Plugged in 2 random USB sticks I have & niether of them have a VID & PID shown in device manager under the Hardware Ids drop down. I do see them under the parent drop down but that sounds like could relate to the parent hardware, maybe the usb controller. Any advise where I can get the actual VID/PID from or are the parent opnes correct?
  6. ok thanks. Just remembered I acquired an Intel 10Gbe NIC from work a while ago. Might give that a go before I buy another
  7. ok thanks - does the HP only recognise HP branded NICs then? The cheaper 1 I posted, whilst its single port, uses the same intel controller as the HP card so thought would work. But dual port for £13 is decent
  8. would 1 of these NICs do the trick for installing in a Gen8 to be able to go to 6.2.1.? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-Low-Profile-PRO-1000-PT-PCIe-Gigabit-Ethernet-Adapter-Card-D2877-005/192794923180?epid=1917171536&hash=item2ce37910ac:g:QWkAAOSwlfNcQZf5:rk:2:pf:0
