  1. Or try install a Nec USB 3 chipset pic-e adapter and see will it solve your problem Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I think it is mostly hardware limitation related problem, you need to dig in deeper and see what kind of hardware chip is it using, referring to the USB chip on your N54L motherboard I have hard disk enclosure which used a Jmicro chipset to run eSata or USB 2.0 that does not support hard disk that is over 2TB capacity Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hi pigr8, Thank you for reply. I am not a Synology DSM guru. Ok, then if it is possible, how to force the installation at Volume 2? By default, Surveillance Station Package software is always installed in Volume 1(which created by DSM by default, during 1st time install) How you manage to do it? Moving the surveillance folder out and place it on Volume 2, via using WinSCP program, that is run SSH into XPEnology system and move folder from Volume 1, and dump it in Volume 2? That simple?? Do you mind elaborate more? PLEASE!!!???
  4. Hi there, This question specifically deal with Surveillance Station package software. I just want to ask whether it is possible to have the surveillance recording be recorded on another volume/disk group? Is there an option of doing this? Be default, it is always do recording in volume 1 which is where DSM 5.2 OS is stored. So, I have created a disk group 1 with a couple of SATA HDD lumped together, using Synology Hybrid Raid (SHR) with 1 fault tolerance. How to install Surveillance Station in volume 1 (by default) but recording is stored at another storage space, in disk group 1 for example. Most appreciated if someone can advise me. Thank you.
  5. Just to answer the title of this post, if you are not running a couple of of XPEnologized PCs, and you got 1 to play, then you no need to mess around the serial no. to make it unique. If want to use QuickConnect ( strongly not encourage) then you need to make your serial number unique and matching MAC address, you need to refer to http://xpenology.me , refer to the tutorial tab, and find how to do change serial no. And matching MAC address for your system. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I suggest you check on your PSU. What kind of PSU you are using, if you using those crappy PSU that uses dual 12v+ rail, pay more to get a stable single 12v+ rail PSU. I am just guessing here. But I may be wrong.[emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Apologies todi, for hijacking for POST @cosmic_phil, thanks for sharing your information on your motherboard. If Advance Power Management works with your Motherboard, then it is great news. As for my case, I am using an old type of motherboard: ACER-Q35T-AM which, I found out that auto shutdown at specific time is working fine. But..... Auto power up cause BIOS checksum bad
  8. Hi, cosmic_phil Would you like to share what kind of motherboard that you are using? I suspect that the software package-Advanced Power Managment only works with your motherboard and not all of them. I installed it on my system, and it did not work as expected, I configured it to power up at 8.00 am. And as usual, when it did power up, the system stuck at POST, saying CMOS checksum is BAD
  9. Hi todi, Up till now with the latest XPEnoboot bootloader, there is no solution in making power schedule to work. You can search around the Forum for compatible motherboards that works or the other way is to get a network that supports WOL, Configure DSM to support WOL, configure yr router to run WOL in order to boot up Your PC Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Ok, then when enter the host name in DSM, did you get a successful connection update to no-ip? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I saw a couple of PATA modules loaded, but just can't tell which one manufacturer, I did recognized one though, SIS an VIA. But the Promise module loaded did not work with the Promise Fasttrak SX4000 card.
  12. Hi All, This question is directed to those who are familiar with hard disk performance, in terms of read and write speed. As my subject concern, has anyone tried using ATA133 7200rpm IDE drives as storage, run together with modern SATA3 hard drives, meaning DSM is running on SHR setup? Is there any Read and Write performance drawback, when using IDE + SATA..... compares to only SATA drives? Thanks
  13. Yes, router is usually have SoC chipset, to run all those full feature stuff, which is not equivalent with our modern PC architecture.
  14. Ok, then, I will stay away from this route. I guess. I wonder the latest XPEnoboot bootloader includes drivers from the previous / older version of bootloader like Trantor, because, I saw Transtor's version of bootloader does have some Promise PATA drivers: http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1028#wrap ???? Thanks.
  15. Getting Quick Connect to work refer to here: http://xpenology.me/how-to-generate-syn ... alid-pair/ If you think it is hard, then don't worry about reading the tutorial above. Do your research and get your DDNS and port forwarding working. Try this Synology tutorial available in youtube and see it helps or not.
  16. Hi there, Promise Fasttrack SX4000 IDE raid card PCI adapter, see the picture on the link below: https://goo.gl/Ma6Cx8 I know what you are going to say....."what the hell you are still using IDE adapters when most of us has migrated of using SATA technology long time ago. Where were you all these years?" Yes, guys I am still using old technology here, dig out from my cabinet, and what the heck, I got couple of IDE drives still working, doing absolutely nothing except gathering dust! Let's make a full use, before they are become obsolete soon. Yes, I think it already obsolete already..... I looked at the compatible page: http://xpenology.me/compatible/ to check out whether this card is supported in XPEnology. Hmmmm....it looks like it does not support. The only drivers that I can find on the Internet is here:http://www.opendrivers.com/download/driver-19191.html Question: How to install linux drivers into XPEnology to get this card working? Thank you.
  17. Hi Guys, I know my post has long been overdue for an update. But it is never too late than never update at all!!! Latest motherboard I tested: ACER Q35T-AM motherboard(2nd Hand), OEM motherboard from ECS motherboard manufacturer. Yes, I know, still using old technology here. Kind of like poor man's budget NAS. You can check up the motherboard here:https://www.google.com/search?q=acer+q35t-am&espv=2&biw=1280&bih=923&tbm=isch&imgil=GTi1lfxTr0n-tM%253A%253BIC_vnk10AdiCHM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.aliexpress.com%25252Fstore%25252Fproduct%25252FDesktop-motherboard-for-acer-Q35T-AM-beautiful-condition-FREE-SHIPPING-TO-ALL-COUNTRY%25252F208174_508957937.html&source=iu&pf=m&fir=GTi1lfxTr0n-tM%253A%252CIC_vnk10AdiCHM%252C_&dpr=1&usg=__rViZw6envfRNvt7kLG7Jc_jQ7aE%3D&ved=0CCcQyjc&ei=hAeiVbr4OYq0uAT9kYG4Bw#imgrc=GTi1lfxTr0n-tM%3A&usg=__rViZw6envfRNvt7kLG7Jc_jQ7aE%3D Pros: 1) It supports AHCI 2) It has got an Intel Gigiabit NIC on-board(not Realtek or Atheros like those cheap ATX motherboard) 3) It comes with North B intel = Q35 and South B = ICH9 that can supports up to 6 SATA II devices. Cons: 1) It does not come with I/O metal shield black plate, reason being the motherboard was removed from Acer desktop case. 2) Scheduled power down works but when booting up again, CMOS get reset!!!!

  22. @ Lockon, Thank you for your valuable advice, I have never really thought about this. [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Thank you for the suggestion, I was hoping someone can recommend a free or paid service similar to QuickConnect, where there no need to open ports on my router, some thing like Teamviewer, using packet relay, if I am not mistaken. DDNS is an alternative way, but I need to open ports, it is safe to open ports on router? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
