  1. Thanks but have no idea what you are saying. I used the latest loader and still had no lucky
  2. I thought I had read everything before I built my second nas. After failing to connect to the Asrock J3455-ITx and reading further looks like a just bought the wrong version of the J3455 motherboard. Is there any work around or do I just need to return the board. Thanks
  3. Great. thanks so much. Just the information I was looking for.
  4. I have a 4 bay server case with 3 hard drives at this time setup in shr mode which I guess is about the same as raid 5. I am going to add a 4th drive to the case. Will it basically running in raid 10 mode then. Other questions is with other operating systems I have always manually setup as raid 1, 5 etc as I have never had shr option. Is there an advantage of setting up as standard raid over using shr? Hope that all makes sense. Thanks
  5. I am a retired tech from Xerox Corporation. Been building pc's since the beginning it was possible do. Before that worked on CPM machines. Love anything Technical. From South Dakota but right now living in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Much better weather this time of year. Love the site. Lots of information that helped me get my nas going. Was using Whs V1 and V2 and after that was no longer supported have been using Windows server 2016 essentials, which for my need is way more than I needed as it's just for home use. Love Xpenology os.
  6. 1. Wait for reports of successful install under ESXi 2. Test on testing DSM install 3. Wait a week 4. Push to main production install
  7. Thanks so much for the reply. That's kind of what I thought but wanted to be sure.
  8. I have my pc nas setup as DS918+ and it's working great and i love it. My question is It has 3 hard drives running in SHR mode. One of the drives has failed. Is it just a matter of shutting down the nas, replacing the bad drive and booting it back up? Will it rebuild itself or is there a specific procedure? Thanks in advance.
  9. Never mind. Had wrong version of plex and yes I have a plex pass.

Outcome of the installation/update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.2.1-23824 - Loader version and model: JUN'S LOADER v1.04b - DS918 - Using custom extra.lzma: NO - Installation type: BAREMETAL - ASUS H110I-Plus/CSM LGA 1151 Mini-ITX Motherboard / CPU I5-3570S / IO Crest 4 Port SATA III PCI-e 2.0 x1 Controller Card Marvell Non-Raid SI-PEX40064 / DISKS 4 2TB Western Digital Red Nas Drives / Nic Onboard 1 x Realtek 8111H Gigabit Would rather use different nic but only have one pcie slot taken by controller. Seems to work fine though.
  11. Thanks so much for the advice. No hurry to upgrade as things come out but don't want to brick things and have to start bare metal again.
  12. I have my pc nas setup with DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 1 and it's working great and I love it. My simple question is in the future if I want to update to a newer version what the procedure is? All my installs on different versions have been bare metal and since I am so happy with exactly what I have ended up with just curious so I don't screw something up and have to start from scratch next time I want to update. Can I just update through the web gui update and restore? Thanks in advance.
  13. I have used plex since the beginning on Microsoft products by now using it on xpenology. I have it installed from the package that came with the original install on xpe and and getting a message saying there is a new version but I have to update it manually. I want to update to a new version of plex and manually downloaded it. I then tried to install manually but I get the message "Package not supported" . Any advice appreciated.
  14. I got xpenology on a pc setup and working great. I really love it. I pulled it offline so I could put covers back on and clean things up. When I got it going again I accidentally had one of the drive trays slightly out so it didn't recognize one drive and now it's degraded. This is just a 2 drive nas for now. My question is I plugged the drive back in but still have the same message. Will it rebuilt itself automatically or is their a procedure to pair the drive again? Thanks in advance.
