  1. Due to my impatience and stupidity I hosed my nas. It has been running on 918+ 6.2-23739. Being bored with nothing to do today I decided to upgrade to the latest 24922. Well unfortunately now I can't access my nas. It has 4 drives in it running shr. I  know I have to probably start from scratch but how can I do this without losing all my data. That would be a disaster as I didn't do a regular backup, only relied on SHR which I realize was stupid. Is there any hope?

  2. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL

    - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 2

    - Loader version and model: Jun's Loader v1.04b - DS918+

    - Using custom extra.lzma: NO

    - Installation type: BAREMETAL - Mitac-PD10BI

    - Additional comments: No Reboot Required

  3. Okay thanks I think I'll stick with the 4 gigs. I've got a huge movie library and it seems to be streaming perfectly and the main other use for it is just backing up my other PCS and I'm getting real good transfer speed so no sense wasting money on more memory. Thanks for your opinion.

  4. I have a nas emulating DS918 on a J1900 motherboard. I use it for backups and plexmedia. Right now It's running 4 gigs of ram. Is there any advantage to install more than the 4 gigs  I am using now. Seems to be running fine.

  5. I have another question. I found I wasn't using the correct shutdown for 918. I installed version 6.2.02.  Same as before. It almost shuts down though the fans still run but I can not longer access server. Do you think if I hard shut it down after that it is likely to corrupt files? Did it a couple of times and it still boots fine. Maybe back to to openmedaivault software but really like xpenology.

  6. No luck with shut down. Once I initiate shutdown it does something as I can no longer access nas but fan still running and it's showing up in my router so I guess I am stuck. I am running ds918. I don't know if a different version would have different results.

  7. I am getting the below message on my 4 bay xpenology server. My question is how can I determine which drive is starting to fail  since it just says disk 7?

The hard disk 7 on DS918_PLUS had an I/O error, but it is working properly now after several retries. It might have been caused by bad sectors. If this error occurs again, please back up your data and run the S.M.A.R.T. test on your hard drive to examine the hard drive status.

  8. I have a Mitac PD10BI motherboard. I think they are normally only used for commercial applications. It has a Bay Trail J1900 processor. It is working fine running Xpenology Ds918 0n 1.04b boot loader with one problem. It won't shut down. I tried the program that someone made to shut down nas but still won't. Only way to shutdown is a hard shutdown with the power button. I am guessing eventually my system will get corrupted. Any suggestions. It's a great little board and runs way better than I expected, especially with Plex Media Server. Thanks in advance.

  9. Been using this software for a while and love it. I have a friend that wants me to put a nas together for him. I want to use an embedded motherboard. I think that the Asrock J5005-itx seems to be the best choice and most performance for an embedded system. Just want some feedback. Mainly he wants a low power usage system so I though embedded would be the way to go.

  10. Outcome of the installation/update: SUCCESSFUL

    - DSM version prior update: DSM_DS918+_23824

    - Loader version and model: JUN'S LOADER v1.04b

    - Using custom extra.lzma: NO

    - Installation type: BAREMETAL  ASRock Q1900-ITX

    - Additional comments: Internal NIC works great

    - Additional comments: REBOOT, OK and Shutdown OK

SDR Mode with 3 WD 2tb red drives and 2 Crucial BX500 2.5" 120GB SATA for caching

  11. I have no idea why as I had no luck with 3615. I have tried about everything and coudn't get 918 installed but was able to get 816. I think I am still going to send the board back to New Egg. My other installs have been simple  without these problems and am afraid as soon as I want to update I will be stuck again and have to start from scratch.

  12. Yes not the cable. I have tried so many different things. 918 3615 17 etc and different versions. I just cant get it to work. Had no problems with some of my other boards but really wanted to use this due to low power usage. Sending it back to New Egg. By the way works fine on linux and windows. Spent so many hours working with it to no avail. I have been defeated. :( Any suggestions on an embedded motherboard what will definitely work other than the one I tried greatly appreciated. Also updated bios to latest just hoping that could be the problem but no difference.

  13. I just can't connect to install os. It's a brand new board. I have installed xpenology on other motherboards so I have some idea what I am doing. What I noticed is one of the leds on the rj45 network connector is red. It should be yellow or green so I wonder if I have a bad nic on the board. About ready to return the motherboard unless there are other suggestions. Really wanted to use this one due to the low power usage. I am guessing my onboard network isn't compatible. I have 6 drives so I can't use an addon card for network as the one slot is already filled with a sata card.
