Not docker, all drives are on one volume. setup as raid 5. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I should know this as I have built several xpenology boxes but not sure on this. I have one server that I am going to replace all drives with larger ones. I have already removed all the files. After I replace with 4 new drives do I have to do anything with the flash drive or just replace the drives and when I boot I will just be setting up server again. Hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance.

Well after working on this for hours and finally figured it out. Not sure if it leaves me open to any problems. In my PIA VPN app on my phone I selected allow lan traffic. I did get this warning "Notice that some system applications (such as the Google app) could bypass the VPN when access to the local network is allowed.

I have always used an iphone and had no trouble with the synology app connecting to my servers. I now have a android phone and installed the synology app but absolutely can't connect to my servers. Any suggestions. I also can't connect using my firefox browser on my phone. Thanks in advance.

Well I will answer my own question and was a little surprised. I just made a new flash drive with the same procedure as the original one and too my surprise I didn't have to do anything. It booted right up and I am back in operation. :)

I have a server running Xpenolgy 7 working great but what do I have to do to change the flash drive. The one in the server has a broken case and a little flakey. Hopefully don't have to re-do the whole server. I tried to a disk copy but that did no good. Thanks in advance.

After install I can't access the server as long as there is a hard drive in the bottom slot. With only the 3 drives it works fine.

And my final update 4th server went off without a hitch. Less than an hour. Yay. Now what can I do today.

It's funny. I have 4 Xpenology servers. The first conversion went off without a hitch. The second one which I have been talking about was such a struggle. Maybe I was tired as came back and got it done. This morning I did my 3rd conversion and had it done in no time. Maybe I was just tired but 3 server was so simple. Dumb women brain fart on the second one maybe.

Yes I did use redpill and I eventually got it working. To be honest not sure what my problem was. Stepped away for a few hours and then came back and got it working. I have set up 2 others without problems so still a little confused on what was wrong. Thanks so much for your comments and suggestions.

I really wish I would have stayed with some version of 6. I don't have the expertise that lots of these people have on this site. Right now I just walked away from it for now as I needed a break and have spent countless hours on it. One thing if or when I get this fixed I am going to buy a large external drive or setup another server to backup my movies. It's taken years to accumulate them. Thanks for the advise. Will post later on my success when I have the energy to start again.

My main Xpenology server containing 2000 movies is fubared. For some reason the flash drive has failed. I have another flash drive and I installed redpill on it thinking I could recover but it fails every time I boot. I had a spare hard drive thinking I could get it going with that and then replace my 4 drives with the movies on. Install when fine but then when I replaced with the 4 drives and boot it says I need to migrate which I expected and says it has to recover and it goes to about 5 percent and then reboots and back again saying I need to recover it. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Never mind. I just jumped in and swapped drives and migrated and seems to be ok. Only comment I can say is no improvements that I can see but I am a rookie to this still and I am guessing some of you geeks know a lot of great things with 7 😂

I have been testing redpill on my HP N54L for a couple of weeks or so and it's been working great with no problems. I have another pc based server emulating DS918xs+. I now want to move those drives to my new server emulating DS3622xs+ and not exactly sure of the procedure. I have read a lot but still a little confused since there are emulating different models. Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much. Everything went fine. That's my movie server with over 1600 movies on it so for now I am just testing but not wanting to migrate all my movies as it took many years to accomplish. Just using a spare drive for testing purposes. Thanks again for all your help.

I am confused on what is necessary to try latest version of Synology 7 with Red Pill. I am not super technical and trying to figure out if I can just download the loader of if it's something I have to compile which is way beyond my skill level. Just a dumb girl. Running several servers with earlier versions. Thanks in advance 🤣

I have a HP N43L emulating DS3615 with 4 2 tb hard drives. It is only used for movies and it's getting full. I eventually want to replace all 4 drives with 4 or 6 tb drives. I have decided due to the cost I will do one at a time and want to be sure what I am doing wont cause problems. It is running shr1. Can I just shut down the server. Pull one of the drives and replace it with a new one and then restart the server. I know it has to rebuild the raid but I am a little confuse about what's next or if this way is even possible. Thanks in advance.

Happy days are here again. I had been working on this way too long. Needed to take a break and now I am up and running. As far as problem my onboard nic was the problem with my home brew nas. I was able to migrate to my HP N54L and all is good. I did have a backup of my movies but it was a few months ago. Learned my lesson. Back to my normal weekly updates on my servers. Also going to get a battery backup system for my has as power where I live is not very good and often get power outages. Thanks so much guys for all you help and suggestions.

Forgot to ask it has been emulating a ds918 as I mentioned with my homebrew server. If I setup my Hp server again as a 3615 will it be a problem recognizing my moves on my 4 hard drives?

Yes the system that is down was made myself with a mini-itx motherboard. It does have a video port but unfortunately it's just a vga so I may try to see if someone has an old monitor I could us so I could better see what is happening. I took a break for a few hours and will start in again in a bit. Going to make a new usb key and start from scratch. I am very encouraged that most likely all of my movies are still in tact. I will post after I try a few more things. Thanks for everyone's help.

Well I am still confused on what to do. I guess I am in over my head. My server had been emulating a ds918. From what I understand if I try to get the N54l working that runs on 3615 system. I guess even after reading post I have no idea what to do. On my old server thought it comes on it's not booting. Checked the cmos battery and it's fine. It's a headless server so that makes it even more confusing. Oh well. it is what it is. I think I am screwed and not in a good way.
