  1. Thanks for the help. You guys are right, I done a clean install (wiped system settings) and /dev/dri is present. So confirmation 8th gen is supported on 920+/7.2 out of the box 👍
  2. Thank you @smilenkovski so you didn't need to do anything extra after installing DSM to get /dev/dri to appear on baremetal? Not sure what went wrong in my case. It was working in 7.1.
  3. Not working for me on DS920 with 8700K. Should it work? ID is 0x3E92. I thought it should be compatible with 8th gen? On your 920 version I tried following the guide https://imnks.com/6421.html Using hex editor I replaced all '983E' values with '923E' but get insmod: ERROR: could not insert module i915.ko: Invalid module format Should I be able to use your original file since it was for 3E92 or was it for previous DSM version?
  4. Thanks for the help 🤗 I just ran ./m.sh DS920+ the first time (and assumed auto-mapping) then rebooted after completion. Found with Synology Assistant, uploaded DSM .pat no problem but then had disk missing issue. I'll try your steps 👌
  5. When I migrate from DS918+ to DS920+ only 4 disks and my m.2 disk are detected. When I migrate back to DS918+ disk 5 is in crashed state and needs to be deactivated/repaired. @Peter Suh could you help me fix the .dts so it detects my sata disks properly in DS920+? lspci 0000:00:00.0 Class 0600: Device 8086:3ec2 (rev 07) 0000:00:02.0 Class 0300: Device 8086:3e92 0000:00:14.0 Class 0c03: Device 8086:a2af 0000:00:14.2 Class 1180: Device 8086:a2b1 0000:00:16.0 Class 0780: Device 8086:a2ba 0000:00:17.0 Class 0106: Device 8086:a282 0000:00:1d.0 Class 0604: Device 8086:a298 (rev f0) 0000:00:1f.0 Class 0601: Device 8086:a2c9 0000:00:1f.2 Class 0580: Device 8086:a2a1 0000:00:1f.3 Class 0403: Device 8086:a2f0 0000:00:1f.4 Class 0c05: Device 8086:a2a3 0000:00:1f.6 Class 0200: Device 8086:15b8 0000:01:00.0 Class 0108: Device 1344:5405 0001:00:12.0 Class 0106: Device 8086:5ae3 0001:00:13.0 Class 0000: Device 8086:5ad8 0001:00:14.0 Class 0000: Device 8086:5ad6 0001:00:15.0 Class 0c03: Device 8086:5aa8 0001:00:16.0 Class 1180: Device 8086:5aac 0001:00:18.0 Class 1180: Device 8086:5abc 0001:00:19.0 Class 1180: Device 8086:5ac6 0001:00:19.2 Class 1180: Device 8086:5ac6 0001:00:1f.0 Class 0c05: Device 8086:5ad4 0001:00:1f.1 Class 0c05: Device 8086:5ad4 0001:01:00.0 Class 0106: Device 1b4b:9215 (rev 11) 0001:02:00.0 Class 0200: Device 8086:1539 (rev 03) 0001:03:00.0 Class 0200: Device 8086:1539 (rev 03) lspci -tvnnq -+-[0001:03]---00.0 Intel Corporation I211 Gigabit Network Connection [8086:1539] +-[0001:02]---00.0 Intel Corporation I211 Gigabit Network Connection [8086:1539] +-[0001:01]---00.0 Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88SE9215 PCIe 2.0 x1 4-port SATA 6 Gb/s Controller [1b4b:9215] +-[0001:00]-+-12.0 Intel Corporation Celeron N3350/Pentium N4200/Atom E3900 Series SATA AHCI Controller [8086:5ae3] | +-13.0 Intel Corporation Celeron N3350/Pentium N4200/Atom E3900 Series PCI Express Port A #1 [8086:5ad8] | +-14.0 Intel Corporation Celeron N3350/Pentium N4200/Atom E3900 Series PCI Express Port B #1 [8086:5ad6] | +-15.0 Intel Corporation Celeron N3350/Pentium N4200/Atom E3900 Series USB xHCI [8086:5aa8] | +-16.0 Intel Corporation Celeron N3350/Pentium N4200/Atom E3900 Series I2C Controller #1 [8086:5aac] | +-18.0 Intel Corporation Celeron N3350/Pentium N4200/Atom E3900 Series HSUART Controller #1 [8086:5abc] | +-19.0 Intel Corporation Celeron N3350/Pentium N4200/Atom E3900 Series SPI Controller #3 [8086:5ac6] | +-19.2 Intel Corporation Celeron N3350/Pentium N4200/Atom E3900 Series SPI Controller #3 [8086:5ac6] | +-1f.0 Intel Corporation Celeron N3350/Pentium N4200/Atom E3900 Series SMBus Controller [8086:5ad4] | \-1f.1 Intel Corporation Celeron N3350/Pentium N4200/Atom E3900 Series SMBus Controller [8086:5ad4] \-[0000:00]-+-00.0 Intel Corporation 8th Gen Core Processor Host Bridge/DRAM Registers [8086:3ec2] +-02.0 Intel Corporation CoffeeLake-S GT2 [UHD Graphics 630] [8086:3e92] +-14.0 Intel Corporation 200 Series/Z370 Chipset Family USB 3.0 xHCI Controller [8086:a2af] +-14.2 Intel Corporation 200 Series PCH Thermal Subsystem [8086:a2b1] +-16.0 Intel Corporation 200 Series PCH CSME HECI #1 [8086:a2ba] +-17.0 Intel Corporation 200 Series PCH SATA controller [AHCI mode] [8086:a282] +-1d.0-[01]----00.0 Micron Technology Inc Device [1344:5405] +-1f.0 Intel Corporation Z370 Chipset LPC/eSPI Controller [8086:a2c9] +-1f.2 Intel Corporation 200 Series/Z370 Chipset Family Power Management Controller [8086:a2a1] +-1f.3 Intel Corporation 200 Series PCH HD Audio [8086:a2f0] +-1f.4 Intel Corporation 200 Series/Z370 Chipset Family SMBus Controller [8086:a2a3] \-1f.6 Intel Corporation Ethernet Connection (2) I219-V [8086:15b8] ds920p.dts (I've copied from ds1621p.dts since it has 5 sata devices listed) Thanks
  6. Hope you guys can continue the collaboration. The work from you both has been fantastic Seems like pull requests might be the way to do this 👍 Thanks for the hard work!
  7. This was quick and easy solution for baremetal (6.2.3-25426 Update 2) using a Crucial P5 M.2 2280 NVMe 1TB SSD. Thank you @Hackaro and thanks to @The Chief @flyride and anyone else that contributed to the great work. Only a few questions. Should we still expect DSM upgrades to wipe this? Should the cache always be removed before upgrades? Can the patch be re-applied on startup by adding the above into a new "libNVMEpatch.sh" and placing into /usr/local/etc/rc.d?

    DSM 6.2 Loader

Massive thanks to jun! Hardware acceleration is now working on my 8th gen i7-8700K. Using new ds918 loader 1.04b. Bare metal on DSM 6.2.1. Even with Plex running inside a Docker container it is detecting the hardware (for anyone wondering, this required the plex user having ownership of /dev/dri/* and setting the device flag + mounting /dev/dri in the container). This is really super... I thought it would only be possible with another big kernel upgrade from Synology. Fantastic to have it working with these CPU's. Thanks again for the amazing work jun 👌
  9. Quick update on my issue. I just noticed the Intel Coffee Lake CPU's (8th gen) are officially supported in Linux kernel 4.15 (released 18.01.18). The DS918+ is using kernel version 4.4 (released 10.01.16) so it's quite far behind the main release cycle.. I guess it will take quite a while for the i7 8700K to get HW acceleration in DSM unless Synology patch it in? So it looks like IG-88's list is correct for these 8th gen CPU's (working but without hw acceleration).
  10. Intel Core i7-8700K ASRock Z370M Pro4 Migrated DSM from 916+ to 918+. Tested to boot: ok Tested to video hardware transcode: not working (latest Plex Pass and Videostation) Would appreciate any feedback on the hardware transcoding? Activation looks okay with SN/MAC, maybe missing some codecs? {"success":true,"activated_codec":["h264_dec","h264_enc"],"token":"xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"} I also ran this command: sudo synocodectool —activate_codec h264_dec --pkgname videostation reboot There were some errors like this in the logs: 2018-07-05T15:11:34+01:00 Syno synoscgi_SYNO.VideoStation2.Streaming_2_open[4635]: json_utils.cpp:147 Failed to parse json file [/tmp/VideoStation/enabled] 2018-07-05T15:15:19+01:00 Syno synoscgi_SYNO.VideoStation2.Streaming_1_stream[7036]: vte/adapt_streamer.cpp:48 Failed to hls transcoding 2018-07-05T15:15:27+01:00 Syno synoscgi_SYNO.VideoStation2.Streaming_1_stream[7102]: vte/adapt_streamer.cpp:48 Failed to hls transcoding 2018-07-05T15:15:43+01:00 Syno synoscgi_SYNO.VideoStation2.Streaming_1_stream[7294]: vte/adapt_streamer.cpp:48 Failed to hls transcoding I noticed the /dev/dri folder is missing? It was the same on 916+. No HW transcoding in Plex or Video Station.
