  1. Will the new 0.7 work with the j5005 with the newest dsm version, transcoding and network? And if you need a tester for that platform, i can help
  2. If you need a Tester, i can help, i have a few spare hard drives to install a test system on them. Maybe that could help with developing for my board and other boards.
  3. When is the new 0.7 version coming out and will it help me using the new dsm versions on my j5005-itx mainboard by asrock and still be able to use transcoding?
  4. With what did you replace it extra.lzma?
  5. Hey, i am using an Asrock j5005 and want to update to 6.2.2, i once tried it, but it failed. Now i wa Ted to give it a try again and See what happens, but nothing happens. I saw a few people posting, that internal Nics doesnt work anymore with 6.2.2, is that true? Do i have to geht a Pcie Nic or something like that or what can i do to get the update to work?
  6. Hey, i just updated to 6.2.2-24922 from 6.2.1-23824-6 via Built-in update, now my Server doesnt work anymore. I can find it, if i try to reinstall it, but nothing else works, it just doesnt appear anymore. Can soemone help me, and tell me, how i can get my data back? I have a self-builded Server , based on the j5005-itx board from asrock and attached 4 hdd´s to it, unfortunatly i dont have any spare hdd. Any Idea? i rly need by Server back as soon as possbile
  7. If you are German or the Language doesnt bother you (I think, u can change it) here is the Link for my Wishlist with all parts, i used for the NAS https://geizhals.de/?cat=WL-986884 but if u want to use the exact same Case, i recommend you to buy this https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B000ONYSR4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 also, because the frontpanel header Supermicro uses ist not a propiatary standard so you need this adapter cable. In this exact Case and with this exact Mainboard, u can only use 4 HDD´s because the Case only has 4 drives (although there are 2 additional 2,5" places to add Ssd cache or something) and the Mainboard has only 4 Sata-headers, you can sure add a few more, but the Pcie slot is only pcie 2.0 x1. Btw, Asrock , or to be exact Intel, only specifies the Mainboard with 8gb Ram support, but many people, me included, tested that, and it also works with 16 gb, some people also tested it with 32gb, but it seems like, that this can become a bit unstable, if u dont choose the right kit.
  8. Just search for "ASROCK J5005-ITX" and you will definitly find it. Added to that, i just used a Supermicro Case, because it was small and has easy accesible Hot-Swap Drive cages, althought it was a bit expensive for just a Home Server Case (~160 Euro).
  9. - Outcome of the installation/update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 1 - Loader version and model: JUN'S LOADER v1.04b - DS918 - Using custom extra.lzma: NO - Installation type: BAREMETAL - Asrock J5005-ITX - Additional comments: Update worked fine. Reboot and Shutdown are ok. Hardware Acceleration via Emby works great, 10-15%% CPU Usage while transcoding a 4k Movie to FullHD and Streaming that over the Network.
  10. So, to give this Thread a Solution: Hardware Acceleration works for me with the j5005-ITX by Asrock when using the new 1.04b Jun Loader and install Emby (You have to enable VAAPI and not Intel Quick Sync). The /dev/dri folder is also available.

  12. Well, the j5005 is definitly a recommendation, simply because of the good Performance, especially if you consider the Price of the Cpu-Mobo combi. The only Problem this Cpu has atm, is that is not cappable of encoding with Intel Quick Sync, which might change in the future. I would like to see this feature come, this would make many things easier, but hey, atm i am running a few Gameservers, Mediaserver and a Teamspeak server on it, and still can use it normally. And thats the reason why i bought this, although Quick Sync wont work.
  13. Well. There has to be a way, to compile the Kernel in Xpenology
  14. Yeah, i know. Its a Problem in Xpenology, not the Cpu itself. Xpenology just doesnt support Gemini Lake Gpus atm, i think a driver is missing or something like that, i dont know, but i guess, we have to wait.
  15. Hmm, thenn i will wait. Already have the j5005 l, so a bit to late, to switch to an older Cpu. Normally, according to Asrock and to a Review of the Cpu used in Freenas, Intel Quick Sync should work on this Chip pretts well, but i guess, we will see it maybe in the Future.
  16. Well, if you have done the installation in the way i described it, then i dont know how to solve this issue, but can u give us any further information? Some screenshots of the virtualbox seetings u choose and what exactly doesnt work?
  17. You could try and install it on your vm baremetall and not VMWare/ESXI. And btw, have u edited the .vmdk file? Because it points to the .img file and is specificly defined with a name, so you should check that name and change it, if it is false.
  18. Well, you have to download the old loader version, with the .vmdk file (if you cant find it, create a .vmdk file with this in it " # Disk DescriptorFile version=1 CID=6ccf51e5 parentCID=ffffffff isNativeSnapshot="no" createType="vmfs" # Extent description RW 102400 VMFS "synoboot.img" 0 # The Disk Data Base #DDB ddb.adapterType = "lsilogic" ddb.deletable = "true" ddb.encoding = "UTF-8" ddb.longContentID = "7e24a756b77e33e24ac940cc6ccf51e5" ddb.thinProvisioned = "1" ddb.uuid = "60 00 C2 9a ee da ca 33-df 5e 04 3f 80 55 f9 62" ddb.virtualHWVersion = "10" ddb.uuid.image="4b2539af-3baa-4d1d-9b66-767de4b8210d" ddb.uuid.modification="f4047fa2-67cb-456a-bbb0-066f2c69a462" ddb.uuid.parent="00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000" ddb.uuid.parentmodification="00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000" ddb.geometry.cylinders="101" ddb.geometry.heads="16" ddb.geometry.sectors="63" ddb.geometry.biosCylinders="101" ddb.geometry.biosHeads="16" ddb.geometry.biosSectors="63" "in it and the new loader. Now rename the new 1.03a2 file to synoboot.img and place both files in the same directory. after this, open virtualbox and create a new virtual machine. Select Linux version 2.6/3.x/4.x (64 bit) and and select "no harddrive". Then ok. Right click on the new virtual machine and edit it. First go to harddrives and delete everything that is in there. Click the first button on the bottom to create a new controller and pick sata (that worked for me). The click on the second button of you new controller and add a harddrive, but pick "existing one" and now select your .vmdk file. After this, click again on the second button of you controlle and add a harddrive but ths time, create a new one, minimum about 15gb as far as i know. After this, change to the network settings tab and anc change from "NAT" to "network bridge" (this could be changed, but this worked for me) Open the advanced settings and make absolutly sure, that you have this "001132112233" as you mac adress. For better compatibility you should choose "Promiscous mode: for all vms and the host" and for the adaptertype "Intel PRO/1000MT Desktop (82540EM)" Everything should be fine now and you can start you virtual machine, after about 5 minutes max you should be able to find you NAS with find.synology.com or with the synology assistant. Find.synology.com sometimes was not able to find it, but synology assistant was always able to find it. I hope this helps you
  19. Well you need a Movie on your NAS and Emby (a programm to organize movies and other things). Then you have to go into the settings of emby and enable hardware acceleration (intel quick sync) and start a video in another resolution. Finally check for the load on your Cpu and if it is as low as normal, then it works, if it goes above ~50% load, then it doesnt work.
  20. Could you check, if hardware encoding using intel quick sync is working with emby or plex?
  21. Ok, i was able to make it bootable in Virtualbox, but even after 10 Minutes, i cant see it in find.synology.com neither in synology assistant.
  22. Könntest du das vllt nochmal erklären, also wie ich die Loader datei einbinden muss in Virtualbox? Wäre sehr nett
