@Olegin
Thanks again for all your work on this.
Question:
Currently on one of my machines running 918+ 1.04b i do NOT have a dev/dri folder.
I have purchased new Z390 board + i5-8400 with UHD 630 Ipgu
Can i simply swap this new hardware in, and the dev/dri folder will show up?
Or will i have to do some kind of re-installation?
p.s ive tested new motherboard and cpu and they work with Xpenology
I have a 9600K on a Z390 board and it also doesn't show up (i5 7400 did). The driver is too old, from what I gather there is not much we can do about it. The kernel has to be updated most likely. The iGPU is detected in lspci, i915 is loaded but unused.

- Additional comments: Reboot required

OK!... thanks, but the "loader 1.3" have the same result
Did you try DSM 6.2 with DS3615? 6.2.1 doesn’t work with 3617 at all and also doesn’t seem to work with non-Intel NICs, so it probably won’t work for you since you have Realtek.

Yes!.. is true 😂, this the configuration:
CPU : i5 2400, 6GB ram, Lenovo IH61M Intel H61 Socket 1155 mATX Motherboard, 8TB hd, Realtek RTL8111E LAN.
There’s your problem. DS918+ is Haswell or newer, you can’t use it with your CPU.

Most likely 3615/17 with 1.02b DSM 6.1.x. Are you sure you've installed DSM 6.2 and not 6.2.1? It might work as well but I'm fairly sure 6.1 will work.

I have the same question. I'm migrating from a synology ds1512+ and wondered if I could use that serial on my xpenology ds3615+ installation to get quickconnect working?
Late reply but this is probably not going to work. I tried a couple valid pairs from different models and it seems you need a pair from the same box at the very least. A pair from a different model will give an error when you try to use quickconnect. Worth noting that you only need a valid serial for video station hardware acceleration, not sure about other packages.

SO the only things i can do it' to wait a new version of loader or it's definitely dead and i need to buy a new baremetal server ?
I’d guess there will be an update for DS3615/17, it’s the most stable version after all. You’re not really missing anything, in fact 1.03b can work with DSM 6.2.1, at least if you have an Intel NIC it should. On my hardware it works just fine for example.

Does anyone know if 1.04b works with the intel 82567lm, It is in a Dell Optiplex 760, I cannot seem to get it to show up on my network ?
All I find for that model are Core 2 models, the CPU is way too old if that’s the case. DS918+ only works on Haswell and newer.

Hello
I have a HP-Compaq ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 Pentium G2020T with dsm 6.1.7-15284-2 JUN'S LOADER v1.02b - DS3615
If i undestand i can update to 6.2 with JUN'S LOADER v1.04b ?
But i need to change model to ds918 ??
How can i check my driver if they are official ?
Thanks
CPU appears to be Ivy Bridge, DS918+ loader only works on Haswell and newer.

Hopefully not the wrong places for asking.
I have a question about the 1.04b loader and the DSM 6.2.1-23824 - WARNING:
"DO NOT UPDATE TO DSM 6.2.1 with Jun's loader 1.03a2 or 1.03b or earlier. You will most certainly brick your box because of a change in the kernel config that breaks all non official PCIe devices drivers."
Is this solved with the 1.04b loader?
I now use 1.02b loader with SATA onboard controller (ASRock B250M-HDV) with passthrough in ESXi on DSM 6.1. Should this work with loader 1.04b and DSM 6.2.1?It should, but try it in a new VM just to be sure. 1.03b might also work (3615/17) depending on your hardware, it worked for me on baremetal Kaby Lake with Intel NIC but didn’t in a VM.

I tried to load the loader but it does not work in any way it gets frozen on the black screen and does not take ip. Observe the pendriver light goes out after a while. I do not know if it crashed or gave any error. can help me. thanks in advance.
😥
It won’t work on Ivy Bridge, you need Haswell or newer for DS918+.

It’s probably mislabeled since it says DS918+. I still have the img as well but I’m pretty sure that’s the same one.

Since we all know that 6.2.1 is currently not working with the 1.0.3b loader:
https://xpenology.com/forum/announcement/17-dsm-621-23824-warning/
Is this something that is "fixable" or has Synology delivered a serious blow to the xpenology project by modifying some kernel options?
It does actually work. It depends on your hardware. It seems Realtek NICs don’t work for example.

you dont mention the brand of the add-on card/controller, but check that raid is disabled ( set IT or JBOD mode) and the ide ports are too. Not an expert but I think the drivers/modules in the 3615 image are different to the 918, maybe the 918 version behaves differently. Also, try setting the sataportmap to default.
I don’t remember the brand, I think it’s IOcrest or something. I finally managed to enter its BIOS but there’s nothing to configure besides RAID (which was disabled anyway). It only shows the one sata disk I have installed, it’s marked as AHCI Mode. It doesn’t show the empty slots or any way to disable the IDE port. It’s probably some weird interaction with the DS918+ loader considering that it is being detected but for some reason just doesn’t work.
With the DS3615 loader the disk showed exactly as it would if I had it plugged in directly the motherboard. I’ll just switch to DS3615 when I actually need to use the extra ports. It could be that the IDE port is the problem with the newer kernel that DS918+ uses, I don’t care enough about hardware acceleration to get another card right now.

I can't get the DS918+ loader to detect HDDs on a 88SE9128. It shows up in lspci in slot 1:00:
root@NAS:~# lspci -s 1:00 0000:01:00.0 SATA controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88SE9128 PCIe SATA 6 Gb/s RAID controller (rev 20) 0000:01:00.1 IDE interface: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88SE912x IDE Controller (rev 20) 0001:01:00.0 Non-VGA unclassified device: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. It also clearly tries to load it during boot but fails with COMRESET errors repeating for a couple minutes.

Pretty sure you need a DDNS unless you have a static IP address. Personally I use a DDNS and a certificate from Let’s Encrypt. I transfer over secure WebDAV and I only allow HTTPS for the web interface. You can use a VPN to setup the secure connection instead of HTTPS, but you’ll still need to know the server’s IP. By using a VPN you should in theory be able to access it as if you were on the same network (for instance use the 192.168.1.x address).

Not if you use the ESXi option and boot from a virtual disk. The vid/pid only affect your ability to install AFAIK, if you get error during install you have to make sure they’re correct. Personally I ran it in VMs with both normal and ESXi boot options without touching vid or pid just fine.

Interesting, anyone tried baremetal? Everyone in the update thread so far has ESXi as well, which makes sense as it’s easy to reverse if it goes wrong.
-
918+ (1.03a2) doesn't show up on network in my test VM after applying 6.2.1. I attached serial log from the VM:
line 0-54 = normal boot with 6.2u2line 59-468 = boot right after uploading .pat in DSM
line 468+ = another try, same error with mptspi (?)
It does not boot with either BIOS or UEFI. Don't take this as proof that the update doesn't work though, the VM only boots (with 6.2) with the baremetal option and only in BIOS mode. My baremetal install boots with UEFI just fine.

DSM 6.2 Loader
in Loaders
Posted
If you can SSH or telnet then you can run
If not, then you can choose the reinstall option in the bootloader to reset DSM while keeping data. There might be a way of doing it by mounting the system partitions but I don’t know what you need to modify after doing that.
