  1. Just in case someone is having this problem. Finally I managed to solve the issue. I edited the boot option in the grup menu during the boot process pressing "e", then instead of /dev/md0 I have written /dev/sda1 as the root device, and the Ctrl-X to boot. After that, find.synology.com is able to find the NAS and install 7.0 over 6.2.3 whitout erasing the whole disk . /dev/md0 works fine in the grub menu after installation, that change is just needed in the first boot you you don't have to make it permanent J.A
  2. Hi guys: This is weird. I'm using a NUC 6CAYH (1 bay) with comes with a realtek NUC. Intel J3345 (apollolake) Using Juns 1.04b loader plus extra drivers extra and extra2 Transcoding working. If I follow the procedure for installing 7.0.1 with Tiny Core and Redpill everything works fine when using a SSD WITHOUT a previous installation. If a follow exactly the same procedure but the SSD contains my previous juns 1.04b/DSM 6.2.3 installation, then find.synology.com does not find anything. If I just wipe partitions of the SSD then find,synology.com find the 918+ and I can proceed but wiping my previous setup. Have anyone found this behaviour and solve the issue? Otherwise I'll have to backup the SSD disk, restore it, reconfigure everything and reinstall entware, transmission and flexget which is quite bothersome because last version of flexget has some broken dependencies that I have to fix manually, carefully chosen the right version of some python packages. Just to let you know, Intel NUC NUC6CAYH is a great option if you want to have something similar to DSS118 with the features of a 918+ (Docker, brtfs, etc). In addition to that, if you really want an almost silent setup, the NUC6CAYH is barely audible most of the time, and with 6.2.3 (I have to try with 7.0.1 yet) the hardware transcoding works with video station using Video Station FFMPEG patch and community FFMPEG package. 3. Just swappoing both USB cables has worked as you said. Thanks a lot for the advice
  4. I have an issue related to this one. I got xpenology installed in my NUC using tinycore. Everything runs smoothly but if I plug in the USB external disk I use for backups and for whatever the reason I need to restart the system it does not boot. Everything goes back to normal after unpluging the disk and restart I'm not and expert with grub. How could I modify TC boot usb stick to allow the system to boot with the external USD sata connected? I men permanently. It's a headless server I'd rather not connect the display an keyboard each time I reboot J.A Pocopico thanks a LOT for what you are doing for all of us in your free time. Ignore me if you don't have the time or have more interesting things to do.
  5. Thanks a lot for your answer but that's not the case, I did several tests and it happens just when using my SSD Synology 6.2.3 disk. Furthermore if I disable the SATA port in the BIOS find.synology.com is able to detect the DS918+ in the next reboot. But obviously it says that there is no disk and ask me to insert one. Obviously hot plug the disk in a NUC that is not intended for that is too risky. Apparently something is happening when the Redpill bootloader finds a working system in the system disks that stops the boot process.
  6. Hi guys. After some test with a spare disk. I tried to migrate my NUC j3455 from 6.2.3 to 7.0.1 using RedPill and Tinycore Whenever I use a system disk (The NUC has just one bay) empty or with anything different from DSM installed everything is fine, but when I try to use my real production 1T SSD with jun's 6.2.3 to migrate, the RedPill bootloader gets stuck at some point and find.synology.com is not able to find anything. Anyone with this problem? Otherwise I'll have to backup the full disk and then do a clean install. Thanks a lot in advance
  7. I have searching through the forum and apparently since DSM 6.1.2 a valid serial number is required to use some of the synology apps Is someone maintaining a list of such apps? I have just installed Xpenology in a intel NUC and it's absolutely fantastic, but it a the apps I need are going to stop working I should move to other solutions, like OMV. For the time being the apps which require a valid sn are: -. Photo Station -. Video Station -. Audio Station -. Quick connect Some of them require a valid sn to transcode. Luckily I'm not using that ones nor quick connect. The ones I really need and that for the time being are working for me with DSM 6.1.6 are: CloudSync USBCopy CloudStation Download Station Transmission (there shouldn't be any problem with this one) -. Any one is having problems due to non valid sn with those apps? -. Any list of not working apps? -. If I stop updating DSM but continue updating apps, those apps could stop working in the future? So it's recommended to stop updating DSM AND apps? Regards: J.A
