  1. Hi, I'll report a BUG in rev. 0.9.4.9b when using tinycore-redpill-uefi.v0.9.4.9.img with DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 1 running as DS3615xs. Same behaiving when I've tried another model i.e. 3622xs+. I'm using a FSC D3222-B1x Mainboard with I5-4460 + 16GB RAM. 8x 4TB WD red + LSI 9211-4i IT mode. As soon I connect a Mellanox ConnectX-3 10GB FC to one of the PCIe slots the system is shutting down (no reboot) when the system load seems finished to access the webui. I can confirm with older rev. i.e. 0.9.3.x the system is running fine as expected. It really costs me some time to analyze the issue. cheers Chris

  5. Hello, I have a bigger problem with a DS3617XS system with an Intel SC3420GP board. I use 3 NIC - 2 Intel 1GB onboard and a 10GBit Connectx-3 adapter. Problem: I would like to use the real Mac addresses. I defined these in the grub.cfg with "set mac1 (2,3) = xxxxxxxxxxxx" too. Unfortunately, the assignment does not always work properly. If the MAC address is assigned to a 1GBit card of the 10GBit card, I do not get a 10GBit link. How can I define in the system which NIC (eth0, 1, 2) matches which MAC address. To my knowledge, there must be a cfg in Linux, in which the NIC's are defined with ethx. I'm grateful for any help. Cheers Chris

    DSM 6.2 Loader

FYI: I updated one of my xpenology 22TB NAS (3rd backup box) from latest 6.1 to 6.2 successfully. Hardware is running on Intel S3420GP with 8GB DDR3 ECC RAM; Xeon L3426; 14x 2TB Raid5 with hotspare; onboard 6 port AHCI + 8 port LSI SAS 1068E. Just created the new boot stick, configured MAC and serial. Booting from 6.2. Migrating the system manually. After reboot only 11 disks are recognized - no data volume. putty: changing the values for esataportcfg="0f000000"; usbportcfg="f0000000"; internalportcfg="0000ffff". Reboot.....all fine. No raid rebuild all data available. I'll also update my other 2 boxes. thx for the great support - Chris
  7. sure...the 1068 is only supporting drives up to 2TB each. In my case it works well using 2x 4x2TB Raid5 volumes. br chris
  8. update: disk drives >2TB won't work on LSI 1068E SAS controllers even BIOS is diabled......detected as 2TB. Verified with 3TB Toshiba disk.
  9. I can confirm LSI MPT SAS 1068 controller are working with the current DSM revision. I'm using a 8port and a 4port controller flashed with IT firmware but bios disabled. Very cheap on ebay: <10€. cheers Chris
  10. ....true, if or when the disk is controlled by BIOS it's not supporting >2TB. But my question is for drives >2TB not controlled by BIOS (because of disabled). br Chris
  11. Hello friends, this is my 1st post here. First I would like to say many thanks for sharing that project to build an own Synology NAS. I've been using for multiple years Openfiler as FC target. This works great but it always requires to have my computer on if I want to access the shares. I decided to use a NAS instead a SAN now. The hardware is a bit old but Ok because it's only using as backup for my Backup on USB3 drives. Specs: Intel SH2200 Mainboard with Xeon DC 3110 + 8GB DDR2 ECC RAM. 6x AHCI SATA onboard + 1x LSI 1068E B3 8 port SAS/SATA (patched with IT [no Raid support] firmware 1.33.00.00 - BIOS disabled); 4x 2TB WD green + 4x 2TB Seagates 3.5". There are 2x Raid5 with BTRFS formatted. OS 6.1 current release. approx. 120W power consumption in idle. Here the question: The LSI 1068E only supporting disk drives with <=2TB. As far I understand is this limitation only when the BIOS is enabled which isn't in my case. Can the 1068E be used with hard drives >2TB with BIOS disabled? I was unable to find any thread which is covering this request. br Chris from Germany.
