  1. Different DS play varyingly, but the Intel ones have always worked (from what I saw). I got a refurb Intel X520-DA1 on Aliexpress for 26$ at the time (same as a new XEON and ECC Ram for an HP GEN 8). Be careful not to go think you can go "all CAT6 SFP+" because the SFP tranceiver draw different powers and the Intel is sensitive (notwhistanding the receiving end) about the voltage the SFP module will need I went with two FS 850nm 10Gb Fiber SFP+ transceivers (from FS, Intel tested) with LC-LC 850nm fiber in OM5 (the one that "bend" the most so that other living being agrees **) If your house is all CAT6 equiped basement to roof, try to find in the forum a supported 10Gb card, and don't pay the price they are asking (300+$) for rebadged old intel cards. Fiber SFP+ transceivers are 0.6W, and 10G copper is around 2.5 watts . For France's "Free Mobile 10Gb/s Fiber Delta Box" for exemple, that's over specs because the SFP+ cages are rated for 1.6w, so it was a complete win (cheap card, cheap transceivers). And Fiber is much, much cheaper at "room distance", as copper is justified for a house IMO
  2. One year after the last post, it seems Synology has released a "Advanced Media Package" plugin (paid+serial checked) that might help with those formats. Doesn't seem to have been ported to Xpenology but hey, the millions I didn't spend on the Synology, I use them to travel and take photos ^^
  3. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: v6.2.3.3_25426 - DS3617xs - Loader version and model: TinyCore 0.8.0 - DS3622xs+ - Using custom extra.lzma: NO - Installation type: BAREMETAL - HP GEN8 - Xeon E3_1265L - Intel Nic X520-DA1 - Additional comments: Had to install TinyCore with the drives on, and use the "manual" 7.0.1 then cleanup then 7.1 install. Flawless migration besides Plex.
  4. This is on a Microserver Gen 8, Upgraded Xeon E3-1265L, 16gb RAM. I recommend the Intel X520-DA1 (SFP+ 10Gb) for 40$ on Aliexpress, ONLY paired with a SFP+ 10Gb Fiber Module (RJ-45 is NOT SUPPORTED) from FS (around 10$). > You NEED a SFP+ Router though, I highly recommend the managed QNAP QSW-M2108-2C (around 450$). > I recommend setting up the new 10GB NIC as the ONLY ONE (through USB-switcheroo and ILO Management, won't make a tutorial : don't go this route if you need a tutorial) I got a 10Gb Internet fiber ISP so it might be overkill for most.
  5. Slightly off topic, but that chart is confusing. Those are NOT THE HARDWARE PRICES for a GEN10+ but its electricity bill per year.
  6. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.1.3-15152 Update 6 - Loader version and model: Jun's Loader v1.02b - DS3615xs+ - Installation type: Baremetal (HP Proliant MicroServer Gen8) - Additional comments: Requires reboot
