  1. No problem, would you be able to confirm what is expected behavior after a restart of the XPEnology device? i've noticed that the disks seem to change slots some times after a reboot. I've only got 2 disks in at the moment while i do some testing in slots 9 and 10 and after each reboot they appear to change location as far as the software reports. I assume that this behavior has the potential to impact the volumes after a reboot if the disks are suddenly reporting in a different slot? is there a way to ensure that the disks remain in the same slot after a reboot?
  2. Hi, I'm not sure if this is expected behavior or if there is a way around it. I suspect that it may be a limitation of the hardware i am using. When i insert a new disk it seems to be allocated the first available slot in XPEnology regardless of the slot i use, then the second disk will take the next available slot etc. This seems to only occur on the disks that are connected the my HBA cards, the onboard Sata ports appear to be statically assigned and reflect slots 1-8, while the HBA cards should reflect 9-24. Hardware: mobo: Supermicro MBD-X11SSM-F-O cpu: Core i3 7100 ram: 8gb DDR 4 chassis: Supermicro SC836TB backplane: BPN-SAS-836TQ HBA: 2 x IBM m1015 (flashed to IT firmware) i am currently running DS3617xs version 6.1.4 Update 2 with the 4.1 extra.lzma drivers. i've included my dmesg.txt file. The onboard sata ports are appearing as the ata ports while the disks connected to the HBA cards are appearing as scsi ports. dmesg.txt
  3. Just thought i would update my experience with the new 4.0 extra.lzma file from IG-88 posted here: I've tried both the DS3615 and DS3617 with my Chelsio T420 10Gb NIC and both versions have successfully recognised the card and displaying the additional network interfaces within the Synology OS. i have not bothered testing with DS916+ at this point as IG-88 has pointed out that the Chelsio drivers at this point are not in the extra.lzma package. I am currently running version DSM 6.1.4-15217 Update 2. I did have issues with the initial installation of both versions using the 4.0 extra.lzma though. after successfully booting jun 1.02b loader with the 4.0 extra.lzma the Synology Assistant was not able to locate the device, i needed to rollback to the original extra.lzma and complete the installation then reboot one last time with the 4.0 extra.lzma before it worked correctly. I am not sure if this is normal or not but wasn't a big issue. Thanks IG-88 for the updated 4.0 extra.lzma
  4. oh wow! awesome, thanks so much. I'll wait patiently for now i'm still waiting for a couple of HBA cards in the mail anyway, so can't complete my build just yet until they arrive. Was just doing some testing to make sure i can get the software up and running.
  5. Hi, I've successfully installed the latest DSM 6 running Jun's 1.02b DS916+ loader and Polanskiman's awesome guide, however i've got a dual 10Gb NIC i want to use in this system that doesn't seem to be recognised so far. The onboard NIC's on my motherboard get recognised which is how i have been able to get it installed, just wondering if anyone has had any luck with a Chelsio 10Gb card in the latest release? I guess i don't really know what i am doing but I did try compiling the Chelsio drivers using this guide https://xpenology.club/compile-drivers-xpenology-with-windows-10-and-build-in-bash/ using https://sourceforge.net/projects/dsgpl/files/DSM 6.1 Tool Chains/Intel x86 Linux 3.10.102 (Braswell)/ and https://sourceforge.net/projects/dsgpl/files/Synology NAS GPL Source/15152branch/braswell-source/linux-3.10.x.txz/download in place of what was in the guide but i didn't have much success with it. I did also notice that Polanskiman's guide did mention a custom ramdisk, which might be what i want? i found a copy of the custom ramdisk extra.lzma and it appears that there are Chelsio drivers in it however this appears to have only been for the DS3615sx and it also appears that there may be issues with it with the 1.02b loader as there is a comment on the guide that says it is "temporarily offline". Any help would be greatly appreciated
